  1. In my defence @AndrewBClarke I was parking where the marshall told me to, now where is that photo of the blonde bird in your car at Quackers😉😁 Sorry that Steve and Rob couldn't face the cold missed out today and hope to see you when it warms up next time🤩 Andrew and us could hear them before we saw them, Glynn and Dave enjoying the entrance to Quackers cafe Quackers car park We were delighted to be joined in the cafe by Luke As we chatted I changed the route to better suit the company and road conditions, which also meant the refreshment stop was changed too (very, very sorry that I forgot to tell you Chris). So we all booked in at iGNiTiON, our new cars and coffee venue. iGNiTiON cafe Chris arrived shortly after in his very shiny, newly MOT'd car that gleamed in the sunshine and looked great, that red polishes up well. Shorts! oooooo Our route today had been magnificent, the roads were quiet and dry with excellent views all the way. Having only a small convoy meant I was able to enjoy it more too and as the day came to an end, the sun shone more so Glen and I snook back into the Peak District, oh the joy of Westfielding. @Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO I hope it warms up here in Britain before you two come home It has been a super day out, thank you for coming everyone and we will see you next time.

  3. I started playing around with the hood I acquired to see how well it will work as a half hood. They are ‘unobtainium’ for narrow bodied cars, so this seems the only way of getting somewhere near what I want. Just you watch someone offer one for sale now 🤣 I cable tied the SoftBits roof bars to the right length to try them before cutting down. They are way too long, so quite a lot needs cutting off. I’m using clamps to create points on the roll bar to tension the hood against, I want to avoid any bodywork fittings. Thanks @Rob Waldron for the tip, they work very well. I just used some rope and plastic grippers to allow me to tension the hood as a trial, worked ok. It looks worse than it will end up doing as all the excess hood is tucked up inside. My plan is to cut along just above the window line and attach webbing straps for the tensioning. Depending on how well I get along, I may put zips in the roof to allow easier access as it requires a bit of gymnastics currently. If I add half doors it will be very tricky to get in. I ended up adding one of the original metal hoops which gave the roof a better shape and tensioned it better. I will attach this to the clamp points either side, currently it is cable tied in place. So, a bit of progress and I think I’ve proved to myself that it can work. Next steps, cut the roof bars down to length. Fit the metal hoop in place on the clamps and then cut the roof down to its basic end shape. Will see where to go after that.

  4. @AndrewBClarke @Andy Westwood Mmm, I can see that in the coming summer months we will be having a naughty corner full of Andrew's eating cake😄 There is another one of those naughty Andrew's somewhere @aeg, he must be up to something, he is being very quiet😁

  5. Having sat in this car with the talented Mr Hedley driving I can confirm it's a beast of a car and looks absolutely fabulous. If I didn't have a scruffy version of a very similar westy I'd snap it up myself. Don't be scared, go for a test drive. You'll be terrified, but love it!

  11. It wasn’t me. It was him. Honest. I wouldn’t ever comment about someone looking like Nora Batty. And Mr @aegis not being quiet - just being a stealth ninja 🥷 🥷

  12. Sorry to let you down again guys. I struggle with last minute drive outs as i often have one of the two days volunteering and I think my wife (and 2 young kids) may have grounds for divorce, if I disappeared for the second day! If I know 10 days ish in advance, I have a better chance of it. Glad to see you had another good day out though!

  19. Just replaced the 12V starter battery on the tin top. I specify starter battery as it has an auxiliary 12V ‘battery’ as well, that’s actually a super capacitor and a 290V battery for the hybrid drive. In their wisdom, MB stuffed the 12V battery where a spare wheel would have lived in the past, and then buried it under assorted crap just to add to the fun. Dread to think what MB would charge to change it…. 12V battery lurking lower left….apparently the official method involves lifting the 100kg HV battery (the big silver box on top). I removed the diagonal brace visible here and the longitudinal crash bar that's hiding the +ve terminal to get at the thing. Was easy after that.
