  3. The trick, for manhandling a twin axle trailer, is to jack the front up on the jockey wheel until the front wheels are well clear of the ground. You can then wheel the trailer around on the rear wheels as if it was a single axle, albeit a fairly heavy one.😉

  6. As mentioned, I’ve had both single and twin axle trailers. For a nice light Westy, the single axle won hands down for ease of manoeuvrability and towed really well. But whilst it (the single axle) did tow OK with the MX5 on it, the twin axle is far superior when carrying the extra weight. I use a motorised jockey wheel to move the fully loaded twin axle around at home and thus have no problems using it at all. So I still definitely recommend a twin axle if you have something like an mx5 to tow - and then get a motorised jockey wheel (or a Mr Shifta) and you are sorted. 👍

  8. Having owned one of these they aren’t directly interchangeable between a wide and narrow but the mounting brackets to the roll bar are only secured through an 8mm hole drilled in the rack so these could easily be redrilled further inward.

  9. And so much more manoeuvrable single handed, when not hitched to the tow vehicle, I couldn't believe the difference when I borrowed one.

  10. A cracking day out to the Racer Cafe , 270 miles of fun, leaving just before 8am with a lovely sunrise behind us, we met Barry at aviemore then across laggan to spean bridge onto Ballahulish and then to the cafe where we were joined by Gordon and his family. We were welcomed by wayne who showed us his westy and then took care of us as we warmed up in the cafe. This really is a definite visit in the summer , Suitably fed , watered and warmed up, and a few pictures taken we said our goodbyes and headed for home refuelling at fort William , at spean bridge Barry headed north whilst we headed back over laggan to aviemore and home, getting home just before 5pm. Thanks all who made it today 👍

  12. I don't know why I haven't done this before as it turned out to be fairly easy to do, but I finally used the 3M Perfect-It Medium Cut & Polish compound on the rear of my car where the previously fitted spare wheel had left some very visible marks Before After

  14. Slightly different take on this. Can you spot the Westie in this picture? Not terribly difficult I know! 🤪

  15. I had a blow out at 60 on the M1 with a single axle - no dramas other than the scary bit of being on the hard shoulder! Didn’t even notice it at first 🤣 But definitely prefer the twin 👍

  16. Yes, unfortunately they can vary on their car discipline. A really great first track day would usually be own WSCC track day at Blyton, but not sure if/when etc 2023 @Terry Everall - WSCC Competition Secretary?? This is an excellent track for first timers with enough to keep more experienced interested too. And great if can stop over to watch sprints the day after.

  17. Hi Ben if you do come up north give me a bell either on here or by pm and we can hopefully arrange to meet up id echo the sentiments of Chris the west / north side going clockwise is the best, however there are some interesting points to explore with your good lady amongst these are gardens and castle of mey, Dunrobin castle, if you don’t mind a walk then add Fyrish monument . heading down to Edinburgh can be done with the minimal motorway by taking the Glenshee road and again coming north it’s possible to take the scenic route via aberfoyle the dukes pass then head for tyndrum , glencoe, a wee detour along Glen Etive (Skyfall fame ) then fort William and Inverness . like I said give me a shout once we’re home / your ready and we can discuss if you want cheers Gary

  18. I've not shown any models for a while, so here's what I've been up to since building the Beach Buggy. Another Westfield, VW-PORSCHE Kombi, Ford Transit Supervan, Transit body and Lotus F1 engine and running gear, Maserati Indy and a Jaguar 420 that's nearly finished.
