A cracking day out to the Racer Cafe , 270 miles of fun, leaving just before 8am with a lovely sunrise behind us, we met Barry at aviemore then across laggan to spean bridge onto Ballahulish and then to the cafe where we were joined by Gordon and his family. We were welcomed by wayne who showed us his westy and then took care of us as we warmed up in the cafe. This really is a definite visit in the summer , Suitably fed , watered and warmed up, and a few pictures taken we said our goodbyes and headed for home refuelling at fort William , at spean bridge Barry headed north whilst we headed back over laggan to aviemore and home, getting home just before 5pm. Thanks all who made it today 👍8 points

Had another fun trip out today with my little co-pilot. We headed down to Bridport to fuel up, then to West Bay for lunch. After that we went along the coast road to Abbotsbury with some excellent views across to Portland Bill. We then headed up to Dorchester, and back up the A356 to Crewkerne; really nice, fast A road driving, though a little chilly! Tea and hot chocolate to warm up, car washed, dried and tucked safely back in its bubble. Knackered but a fun day.6 points

A beautiful day for a meet, chilly but dry and sunny. A late shout out on Saturday and we had a total of 6 Westfields, plus Tim's son in his Mk1 MX5, Michael in his 288GTO replica and Gavin in his electric Mercedes. We headed to the garages and pit wall to look at the Caterhams. Lots of Academy cars using the track day as a pre season shakedown test plus a few road cars like the 620R and 420R. Having done a track day at Donington (with at least one more planned this year) it was amazing to see how quick the Academy cars are around the track despite being only 125bhp! We had a good mooch around the garages chatting to a few of the owners, one ex racer was giving his mates passenger rides in his 620R. The faces on their return to the pits was hilarious 😂 We also spotted a stunning series 3 Elan in the paddock between sessions. Completely original with its Lotus twin cam the owner was definitely having great fun mixing it with more modern machinery. Having had breakfast, Gavin, Tony, John, Dale and Michael headed home. Steve, Tim and myself snapped a quick photo.... Before heading for the Factoryheads Cafe and the Superbike Factory at the other end of the circuit for a coffee. A brilliant few hours with good friends and lovely cars, thanks everyone for coming along. Hopefully see you all again next weekend 👍5 points

Now that a date (March 25th) and venue (Bedingfield Arms at Oxborough) have been agreed I have started this new thread in the hope that some more members decide to attend the first meet. No need for those who have already posted their intentions to repost. You are on my list! However, all further messages concerning timing etc will be found here. Best regards, Barry4 points

Hi chaps, lovely to be here, I’m 36 and have been collecting/ restoring classic cars for about 15 years now, and end of last year it came to me that the chap living opposite us in my childhood home had a green & yellow Westfield and watching that was actually how my motor addiction developed. Anyway the itch has been scratched and I’m awaiting delivery of my first ever 7, an early Westfield seiw 2.0 zetec, beautiful looking beast haven’t really stretched its legs but certainly looking forward to. Will be making some subtle aesthetic changes and wanting to know where the go to is for bits like Westfield side & rear sticker decals/ grill badges etc can’t seem to find on the usual websites/ eBay… T3 points

I had a new ECU, loom, injectors etc fitted in October by Northampton motorsport and hadn't used the Westfield since other than driving it home. I was hoping to get it out over Christmas but noticed non of the lights worked, other than brake lights and indicators. The horn still worked as did the wipers but no lights or dash lights. I checked the fuses and any connectors behind the dash that may have come adrift but it all looked okay. I contacted Northampton motorsport to see if they could shed any light on the issue (pun intended 😁) and they suggested bringing it back to them. I was concerned that it had a been a few months since they had worked on it, they may think I had used it in the meantime and created the issue myself. But they couldn't have been more understanding. So last Friday I drove up to see them. It was great to be back out in the Westfield. I sometimes forget how enjoyable it is, although I did feel a little vulnerable on the motorway without my headlights on. It transpires that the issue was due to the original loom rather than the loom that was fitted by Northampton motorsport. It's thought that when the dash was pulled out to fit the new ECU and loom etc it disturbed the original loom in the car. Although all the wires were intact and connected there were breaks in the wiring and some soldering which resulted in the lights not working. I had booked it in with them and they saw to me as soon as I turned up. Super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Periodically they came out to the waiting area to chat to me and even invited me into the workshop (wow what a workshop with some amazing cars) to see how it was going and show me the issues. It took about 2 - 2.5 hrs and to top it off they offered the work free of charge as a good will gesture. I really can't express how happy I am with them and the work and can't recommend them enough. An absolute pleasure to deal with and I'd certainly use them for any work in the future. Many garages and motor dealers could learn a lot from them about how to treat customers and offer customer service.1 point

Welcome! There are a few places out there, I’ve recently just had a set of gel style centre badges with the Westfield logo on made up. Before that I’ve had the “model type” done as stickers for the front and sides of the car. Demon graphics is popular for stripes, I think. https://www.demongraphics.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=Westfield Some of the things they do. This is where I had the “Mega S2000S” badges done. https://shop.zengraphics.co.uk/westfield?orderby=10 Then for the Classic side stripes, there are a few around doing them on eBay and so on. I’ve no experience of these guys, but this might be what you’re after… https://www.street-race.org/product/westfield-racing-stripes-043/ Note, when it comes to the stripes up the nose, bonnet, back of car etc. I think most people that have them, (with the exception of Toy Box, who fit a distinctive stripe to 90+% of the cars they sell), have generally done them themselves, cutting them out of the sort of film you buy for wrapping cars.1 point

In case you land up wanting to do some stage rally driving again you can still apply for an RS Stage Rally Interclub licence without doing the BARS test as you previously held a Rally Nat B, otherwise as others have said a regular RS Interclub is sufficient for speed events below national level.1 point

Fun out today winter blatting lol, Ronald and Chrissie came along to Elgin for coffee where we met up with Barry and his lovely 265 cup leaving we had a spirited drive east along the coast before cutting off over the back roads to Turriff for breakfast here we were joined by John and his Elise and Paul with his MGF, suitably fed and after a wee blether we had a play along the back roads to Forgue, Bognie, Huntly, Lumsden, and Corgarf for coffee and cake 😃 From here we said goodbye to John and headed up the Lecht to do a few drive by videos then on to Tomintoul where Barry headed home and we came back home via Glen Rinnes, then it was a good wash down lol and sit down with a coffee. Depends if it is a heavy old cast iron lump or nice light desirable alloy. Price is inversely proportional to weight 😁1 point
