  1. Hi chaps, lovely to be here, I’m 36 and have been collecting/ restoring classic cars for about 15 years now, and end of last year it came to me that the chap living opposite us in my childhood home had a green & yellow Westfield and watching that was actually how my motor addiction developed. Anyway the itch has been scratched and I’m awaiting delivery of my first ever 7, an early Westfield seiw 2.0 zetec, beautiful looking beast haven’t really stretched its legs but certainly looking forward to. Will be making some subtle aesthetic changes and wanting to know where the go to is for bits like Westfield side & rear sticker decals/ grill badges etc can’t seem to find on the usual websites/ eBay… T

  3. Believe me, I don’t disagree with anything you are saying, and that’s where I want to be. BUT, and to use the joke, it’s a big BUTT 🤣. I need to get back down to a place where I am healthy, fit and able to enjoy life a lot more, then I can relax into the ways you were talking about. My right knee and hips hurt, totally due to weight and the answer is to shift the pounds. My back hurts, it always will but it’s much worse when carrying the weight, so it has to shift, and the only way I know is to focus on it. Am I good at maintaining once I’m there? NO! 😱 That’s my problem. I really thought I nailed it before lockdown, thinking I had changed my lifestyle and nothing felt like a diet anymore, but lockdown undid all that, working at crazy times of the morning to make enough hours to share some childcare with Mrs Stu was exhausting and meant I dropped my exercise and it all went to pot. I’ll get back there. I suspect you don’t suffer from the same weight issues so it is perhaps easier to adopt your approach?

  4. British summer time begins on Sunday 26th March and so does the Kent area monthly breakfast meet! This is the first one so be sure to pop along and support the club We are meeting at - Jo’s Cafe, Brooklands (next to the Raceway), Romney Marsh, Kent, TN29 9TF 1000hrs for a breakfast and meet and greet! There is indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of parking for the cars. We can discuss what you all want to do throughout the year and further plans and ride outs etc… We hope to see a good turn out for the first one. There’s enough time to get those odd jobs done and your cars all ready (hopefully the weather will have improved too by then). ☀️ Look forward to meeting you and seeing your cars. All kit cars welcome too Ben. 5. Welcome to our clubs drive out and meet occurring on Sunday 12th February at The Barge Inn at 07:30 and 09:30 respectively. The Barge Inn will be the starting point for the drive out (07:30), from there we will take a drive out, lasting approximately 90 minutes, exploring the beautiful Essex countryside. We will then return back to The Barge Inn, just in time to get parked up and ready for our monthly meet (09:30) catch up. We have a WhatsApp group running which contains all the details of the drive out, please refer to the group for this the information. If you are not part of this group please direct message me to be added. All are welcome to the meet, no matter what you drive! It is a great morning to speak with likeminded petrol heads and kit car enthusiasts about our beloved passions, Westfields. For those attending, it is best to arrive 09:30 sharp. This will ensure a parking space out the front of The Barge Inn. It also gives us chance to get first pickings of the tables for breakfast. 6. The normal V6 or V8 motorbike helmet intercoms are quite cheap, especially on Aliexpress (about £50 a pair)

  10. I see you are Gatwick based so i guess Brands Hatch would be ok for you.. You can always get an idiot at a trackday wether a youngster in his Renault Megane or clio or some middle aged muppet in his new Lotuse Exige or 911 However generally the MSVT track days (MSV owning most of the circuits) tend to be generally pretty good standard. MSV also do Novice track days, I just looked and they have one at Donnington, Snetterton and Oulton park.. could be a good choice, not sure if they have one at Brands... They also have their track at Bedford which is a good track for starting and generally well organised.. I think generally if you just go at your own pace and build up your speed through out the day you will be fine.

  12. Yes, unfortunately they can vary on their car discipline. A really great first track day would usually be own WSCC track day at Blyton, but not sure if/when etc 2023 @Terry Everall - WSCC Competition Secretary?? This is an excellent track for first timers with enough to keep more experienced interested too. And great if can stop over to watch sprints the day after.

  13. I don't believe these are available new now. As a guide, from estimates I got from trimmers a few yeas ago, a newly made one to fit car would be over £1000 To modify a used one to fit new height roll over bar aound £300

  16. Yes, I agree 100% with you on all the above. - lockdowns were **** and did lots of harm. First one was a breeze, subsequent ones almost drove me over the edge - yes, I'm lucky in that I don't have weight troubles I feel for you and hope you get back on track. Even more, I hope we'll meet up in person this year with our cars for a blast through the South-West!

  17. Hi! Chasing the target by numbers is one thing ... maintaining it on numbers a different one. Imagine having a great day, the sun is out, enough time for a blast in the Westfield, a run/swim/cycle whatever cardiovascular activity floats your boat, some lovely yet healthy food with friends/family/loved ones and going to bed feeling exhausted yet wonderful. That's all we need to feel good about the world and ourselves (substitute any of the activities with whatever actually makes you feel good at the end of a day). Would I want that ruined by whatever numbers the scales are showing me? The reason could be my own excesses the day before, or some quirk out of my control. But how easy would it be to slip back into bad habits if even a day of being good (active+healthy food) doesn't end with the desired numbers. On the other hand, even if the numbers were right, I don't need the scales to confirm that I had a good day. J

  18. January 7th, 2023 Spend: £0.00 Having removed the rear arch protectors I need to fill the holes that are left behind and then I'm planning to use vinyl wrap to create new arch protectors, just like I did on my previous Westfield. I'm using knifing putty to fill the holes and then sand it flat again using various grades of sanding paper. Yes, it looks awful, but it's flat and the wrap will cover it all January 15th, 2023 Spend: £19.60 One of my cooling pipes had been rubbing on the bonnet and gradually worn a big groove in the aluminium. Took it to my local welder (Precision Welding Northampton) and for a little bit of cash it looks like new again! January 26th, 2023 Spend: £56.09 As a tall person, I hate filling up the car (and with an average 18.7 MPG I'm on a first name basis with my local forecourt). The solution is easy, moving the filler to the top. That did involve removing the angled part of the fuel tank, but I devised a way of doing it in-situ by using a sponge jammed into the filler neck which blocked any debris/swarf from entering the tank itself. Then a simple 90 degree hose and a hole in the boot panel to finish it off. Just need to find something to hide the hole in the back... but I've got a plan for that Last month: £ 4400.59 This month: £ 75.69 ----------+ Total: £ 4476.28

  21. David, I don't think that Blyton is going to happen this year, unfortunately. In fact, I think that Terry did post about this a while ago. It isn't financially viable, because the support both from our Club members, and other invited clubs, has been falling for several years so that the weekend has been running at a loss, increasing year by year.
