  1. I use an app called ProCam 8 on my iPhone, which is good for the Moon and Planets. Managed this one of Jupiter with a shadow transit of one of its moons (the black dot is the shadow) a little while back.

  2. Be good if we could see it like that wouldn’t it? This was taken through a scope on a tracking mount. You need a tracking mount as the app stacks the subs but doesn’t correct for drift. It just has to be a basic alt-az, no need for an equatorial mount. This was the rig I used when taking the image, bit of overkill but it was the easiest Goto mount to get set up. To use the Pixel phones, they have to be perfectly still to enable the Astrophotography mode, so they need to be properly mounted to the eyepiece. I have a few different phone mounts, even some of the cheap ones can work very well.

  3. I bought myself a Google Pixel 6 Pro recently, specifically for the Astrophotography mode. This takes 4 minute exposures when the camera is held perfectly still ie tripod mounted. I gave it a go the other night, looking though my 4” scope. Pretty amazed by the results on the Orion Nebula!

  4. Welcome to our clubs drive out and meet occurring on Sunday 12th February at The Barge Inn at 07:30 and 09:30 respectively. The Barge Inn will be the starting point for the drive out (07:30), from there we will take a drive out, lasting approximately 90 minutes, exploring the beautiful Essex countryside. We will then return back to The Barge Inn, just in time to get parked up and ready for our monthly meet (09:30) catch up. We have a WhatsApp group running which contains all the details of the drive out, please refer to the group for this the information. If you are not part of this group please direct message me to be added. All are welcome to the meet, no matter what you drive! It is a great morning to speak with likeminded petrol heads and kit car enthusiasts about our beloved passions, Westfields. For those attending, it is best to arrive 09:30 sharp. This will ensure a parking space out the front of The Barge Inn. It also gives us chance to get first pickings of the tables for breakfast. 8. I’ve got a Meade ETX 125 with a GoTo mount which should do the job. A while back I designed and printed a mount for my old phone but never actually used it. I’ll see if I can make on for the new phone and give it a go. No stacking on my phone though, have to see if there’s an App for that…

  11. We're going to stop issuing the current Winter mag/calendar in New Member packs from this Saturday, the 21st. This will free up all the "spare" additional copies we have printed to service those members missing theirs. So if you've not had it by now, (or the end of the week at worst), we'll assume your not going to get it. New Member packs will have a slight delay in shipping, as we will send them out with the next edition of the mag, which will go to press in a month(ish). We will use this thread, combined with any direct requests to @Mark Redpath - WSCC Membership Secretary to work out who to ship too. As we only have a finite number available, please do update us if your do arrive. Thanks for your patience on this; we certainly are living in interesting and unpredictable times at the moment.

  12. Hello I am Tony Parham and have owned my yellow Westfield Seiw with swept wings since 1995 . Along with our son (user name Wolfdog) toured Europe back in 2008 including Stelvio pass to Italy. As I have now rejoined from a while back and have joined in January will it be possible to get a 2023 calendar as I believe I have a couple of photos published on it via Martyn Vann !!
