  1. Thanks for organising @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative , we seem to be cursed with rain every time we go to the GBCJ, I'm starting to think it has its own weather system! 😂 Having not been in the car for 2 weeks, I got all excited and arrived at Willington Services far too early but the sun was out! Mind you, it was verrrry cold but thankfully heated coat had come out of hibernation! @Tim Coles and @Stuart (in the lovely M240i) arrived at about 9am. Stuart even put the electric roof down (poser! 😂) in solidarity, but with the heated seats, 3 litre twin turbo powered heating and air deflector I'm sure he was far warmer than Tim and I 😂 Nine Westfields (plus Andy, Becky, Gary and Stuart in "normal" cars) in mid November is an amazing turnout, thanks everyone for making the effort! It's typical though, only 10 miles south and no rain.... another 10 miles and it was blue skies again!

  2. New carbon fibre dash in. Easy job? Just swap the wires onto the new switches and off you go. NO. 2 wires on 6 terminals, wiper switch working the wrong way (switch on, wipers off. Switch off, wipers on) Side lights on, no headlights. Sidelights off, headlights on. Got everything working by trial and error, put the dash in and the loom was under the hoop. Everything off and loom moved above hoop and plugged back in. Everything working so dash fitted. Start the car, and it won't start. A few choice words, well quite a few really, and I've come in for a coffee. The dash looks good, but not much different to the old one. Everything was working fine so why did I change it? Because that's what we do.

  3. We briefly gathered everyone up at The Hurt Arms to take the 1 minute journey to the Great British Car Journey museum where we all got parked together, it was dry at this point 😃. After a bit of a tyre kick the tea pot beckoned and we all piled into the cafe to continue our conversations. Here we are, anyone with magical photo editing skills please feel free to sharpen this one. When we came out of the cafe it was raining, so any thoughts of looking around the other cars were dashed and we set off, some for home and some in search of cake. Luke Steve Tim Stuart's M240i I rang round but places were full so I booked us into the Fountain at Bonsall, only 10 minute's away, which is far enough when you are shoehorned into a wet car The Fountain car park Inside the cafe Andy and Becky always half their cakes to share them and this is an 'Andy's Half' well Mr Gilbert, that is never halved, tut, tut, and these people build cars. Let's hope the build manual never says 'cut this piece in half' 😂 Obviously Becky took the larger half as Andy then had to prey on Andrew for his cake 😂 Glynn was keeping well out of it While I was absent exactly who was it, Rebecca Gilbert, that nicked my camera and photographed these loonies 😁 A message to @Andy Westwood , where were you today? you were missed by these stand-in Cake Meister's Thankfully it was dry when we came out of the cafe so we all removed our half hoods. The way home was not without challenges, we turned at Matlock due to heavy traffic, we knew both Bakewell and Chatsworth had their xmas market's on, so we took to the back roads with all the other locals, it was like the Wacky Races as no-one was hanging around, so we got a run out after all, brill. See you next time, go and fetch some sunshine though please.

  4. Took the small person to her horse riding lesson in the Westfield as it needed a run out, then had a pootle to Ham Hill Country Park and back. She was looking a little blue when we got there, so an improvised face cover was needed! 🤪 It was a day for silly hats and silly jumpers for me 🤣

  5. Thanks yet again Julie👍 Another great day. I didn’t get any photos so I’ve nicked the one from GBCJs website 😂

  7. Great to see everyone this morning. Sorry I was late getting there and early leaving. Got absolutely drenched on the way home, but fun to be out and about in November all the same. Luke.

  8. Love that photo of me making a quick getaway (sorry I didn't hang around to say goodbye). I had hoped to get ahead of the drizzle as it only started after we left the building but it wasn't to be. Maybe I need to look at fitting a half hood over winter? I need to get a new passenger wiper blade since, after years of only being used at MOT, the rubber has finally given way on the third time I have ever had to use the wipers in anger. not sure if this is good or bad value really? Luke.

  11. Had another good day thanks to Julie and great seeing people out enjoying the sun & rain. Had a great run home in the sun, even had to put sunglasses on. Ali is now looking at nail guns online to help fill her one shelf in the garage.

  12. Eek! I definitely wouldn’t be that brave! I was a little concerned about grounding the car getting in, but it turned out to be fine.

  13. I remember once being asked by an insurance company whether my Westfield had been modified from standard. It was a difficult conversation trying to explain to them that with kit cars there is no standard specification to compare to.

  14. I assumed that was the case, but at the riding school my eldest uses there is a lane that wouldn't look out of place in rural Nepal

  16. Only the first one was in the car park at the stables, it gets a lot boggier once in there! The rest are at the country park. Was sunnier this morning, once the cloud came over it chilled down pretty quickly 🥶. Nice to get out though.

  18. Your's would be an SEiW. Sigma engine, and what looks like ZK bodywork. They're a cracking car, the very lightweight Sigma engine really suits Westfields!

  19. There are only a few "named" Westfield models, the majority of kits (whether home built or factory built) are not specific models in the tin top car sense. As Stuart said, the nearest you'll get really is more of a general designation than a proper model. SE - narrow (or original body size), live axle SEi - as above, but with independent rear suspension SEW - wide body, (now the only size option) with live axle SEiW - as above, but with independent rear suspension Further to that, You may see on cars from the last fifteen years or so, FW SEiW or ZK SEiW, (the FW or ZK may be before or after the rest.) These refer to either the later more rounded style FW bodywork, or the traditional style ZK bodywork. To throw confusion into the mix, many owners have sort of invented names for their own cars that never really were in use by the factory, some stick, some don't! Actual factory used model names which meant specific things about the car included: SEiGHT (V8 car with unique chassis to the V8, at the time) Speed Sport, a specific spec Zetec engined car, originaly with tuned Dunnel engine and certain factory options from new. (Normally has an id plaque, but these can get lost over time. Speed Sport Carbon, as above, but with carbon fibre options as standard! Megablade the three factory motorbike engined cars, with Fireblade, Blackbird or Hayabusa engines and gearboxes. Megabird Megabusa Aerorace, a Zetec powered car with race modified chassis Mega S2000, Honda S2000 engined car with unique chassis part derived from the Aerorace chassis. Sport 250, A 2.0 litre Ecoboost engined car used a slightly modified version of the Mega S2000 chassis. There have been most but these you see most.

  21. That is a very clean looking riding yard. You wouldn't get the Westfield up the lane to ours! At least you had a dry day

  23. And an apology! As with any new endeavour, their are often growing pains! We are enthusiastic amateurs in most cases, learning how to use the available tools as we go. At the same time, we are evaluating and deciding which approach to doing things is most suitable for us, the WSCC; just like in Tech Talk, we know what we want to achieve, just not always how! The elephant in the room. What happened last week? Firstly, it is important to understand that the WSCC page had been there for around 5 weeks with no interest, until we began formatting, testing & inviting a small group of people. Secondly, As we mentioned previously this was to facilitate Instagram feeds correctly & stop others from obtaining the remaining WSCC in the future. However, this initial attempt was set up incorrectly believing that a profile led to or enabled Page creation & Group pages. This caused some added confusion. This profile has now been deleted, As several members had mentioned this was created as a profile incorrectly. The group has now been created properly. And then; Westfield Sports Cars Club "is back & social" Our good friend & advocate Jim Gould (7Spot) spotted the first profile, and posted the above words and linked it to our WSCC (now deleted Profile) Facebook page. Unfortunately, being Canadian based and a general "Seven" style car channel, they were perhaps not quite as aware, and sensitive to the whole Westfield Sports Cars Ltd situation in the UK. Those words Jim used, resonated through social media rapidly & many contributed from the club to stem any misunderstanding to the words “is Back.” Hedley spoke to Jim on Wednesday 26th of October, as this gained momentum through our own club & on Facebook. Jim explained that his intentions were very much of support. He was celebrating the fact, that we are embracing other platforms to share our wonderful club and Marque. What he wanted to portrait was his enthusiasm that WSCC were active! Or actively back & on social media, and that our presence back on social platforms was to be celebrated. Jim fully understood our concerns about the post & its unintentional ramifications, offering to remove it. Thankfully, we seem to now be moving past these initial teething troubles. Though it's a great lesson in just how quickly on Social platforms the wrong choice of words can spiral out of hand so quickly. Please do share your thoughts regarding the Facebook Group page! Or indeed on any of the social media platforms we now operate in. We welcome participation & feedback. If you would like to offer your assistance on any of our social media platforms, do get in touch. We have several areas that need your help! And finally, from me, on behalf of the Club, a massive thanks to Hedley in particular, and all those coming in to help on this project; we've discussed it for years, but Hedley made it happen!

  24. It's fall here in Montana which means it can be 65° and sunny (like when I took these photos a few days ago) or it can be 30° and snowing like it is today. We've gotten a foot (30 cm) so far and it's still coming down. That makes the memory of taking these sunset photos a few days ago all the more special. The snow will melt in a few days and it will be time for a cool weather blat before real winter arrives. dave
