  1. Well it's only taken us five or six years to finally make a "proper" start on the Clubs main Face Book presence! In truth, we've had a few false starts before even getting that far, before now, just trying to find volunteers to take it on! However, Hedley, @HB46443 has done such a superb job getting the You Tube/Instagram sites started, he has continued on, as they're kind of interlinked, to work on the FB site. This has been going on quietly for some time, as we learn the ropes and plan how and what we want to do - something that is still on-going; however, it all got dragged kicking and streaming in to the spot light last week. When another site spotted it, and trying to be helpful, flagged it up... Trouble is, FB is an international place and they were neither from the UK, nor were up to date on the current factory situation, so what was an innocent, intended to be welcoming comment from them totally exploded, but more on that later. So, what's the plan with Face Book? Firstly, this is very much something intended to run in parallel with the forum, and for the two elements to complement each other! Primarily, the WSCC Social Group has been created to attract & influence new and old members back to the WSCC and to the membership forums. Please do join, if you are a user of the Face Book platform! Why Facebook. Our members have been encouraging us to have a greater social presence for some time. So, we have begun obtaining & creating social media accounts in several popular social platforms. With a passionate membership following and prestigious Brand in the Kit car world, we rightly wanted to shout about our Club & Marque. We represent a highly desirable brand in the kit car world, the WSCC brand is easily recognized & respected! The forum reaches one group of the enthusiasts, but the other platforms reach our continued future. What should WSCC Facebook Social Group be used for: You are at an event, tell us more about the event. Westfield’s on display share it to us all. You are interested in an event on Facebook & believe is suitable for the wider Westfield membership, share it. That Video you have just uploaded, link it to the WSCC Social Group. Although we encourage Westfield Content in the main, sometimes other content, should be seen by likeminded individuals. Share the Link! Post on the Forum or WSCC Social Group. Most members are sharing to the forum & other platforms simultaneously. Looking to ensure members & non-members and their friends are included in their activities. Perfect! Whilst the platform operates and grows with your help. The WSCC admin teams will begin posting adverts & awareness to a wider audience. Branded posts advertising “Hooks” to popular stories, technical questions that have been answered & more! These posts are links only, the information will only be available on the forum. This will encourage interested people to the forum. Looking to own a Westfield Car? Check out our recently added. (Club rules apply) We will also share our events better. Regionally Nationally - More on this to follow! Nobody wishes to move the great detailed & knowledgeable conversations from the forum. Technical questions & their answers or “where can I get a Steering Rack”. Will not be authorised for posting. Instead, a prewritten Warm Welcome & reply will be posted encouraging “Technical Questions” best be asked on the Forum. (Club rules apply) There will be no commercial posting/advertising, however, just like on the forum, we will allow posts from our great Traders and Sponsors. Sharing their latest news & video links to their videos and products. Though note, members only deals will only be accessible through he forum, as usual. Private sales are strictly prohibited. Advertising items can only be done on the forum, just as it is now, and can only be done by full Club members. This isn't a definitive list, this is something new to the Club, and something we are all still learning about! Over time we will gain other insights & ways to improve on the various other Platforms too. The Westfield Sports Car Club has never been more visible!

  2. And an apology! As with any new endeavour, their are often growing pains! We are enthusiastic amateurs in most cases, learning how to use the available tools as we go. At the same time, we are evaluating and deciding which approach to doing things is most suitable for us, the WSCC; just like in Tech Talk, we know what we want to achieve, just not always how! The elephant in the room. What happened last week? Firstly, it is important to understand that the WSCC page had been there for around 5 weeks with no interest, until we began formatting, testing & inviting a small group of people. Secondly, As we mentioned previously this was to facilitate Instagram feeds correctly & stop others from obtaining the remaining WSCC in the future. However, this initial attempt was set up incorrectly believing that a profile led to or enabled Page creation & Group pages. This caused some added confusion. This profile has now been deleted, As several members had mentioned this was created as a profile incorrectly. The group has now been created properly. And then; Westfield Sports Cars Club "is back & social" Our good friend & advocate Jim Gould (7Spot) spotted the first profile, and posted the above words and linked it to our WSCC (now deleted Profile) Facebook page. Unfortunately, being Canadian based and a general "Seven" style car channel, they were perhaps not quite as aware, and sensitive to the whole Westfield Sports Cars Ltd situation in the UK. Those words Jim used, resonated through social media rapidly & many contributed from the club to stem any misunderstanding to the words “is Back.” Hedley spoke to Jim on Wednesday 26th of October, as this gained momentum through our own club & on Facebook. Jim explained that his intentions were very much of support. He was celebrating the fact, that we are embracing other platforms to share our wonderful club and Marque. What he wanted to portrait was his enthusiasm that WSCC were active! Or actively back & on social media, and that our presence back on social platforms was to be celebrated. Jim fully understood our concerns about the post & its unintentional ramifications, offering to remove it. Thankfully, we seem to now be moving past these initial teething troubles. Though it's a great lesson in just how quickly on Social platforms the wrong choice of words can spiral out of hand so quickly. Please do share your thoughts regarding the Facebook Group page! Or indeed on any of the social media platforms we now operate in. We welcome participation & feedback. If you would like to offer your assistance on any of our social media platforms, do get in touch. We have several areas that need your help! And finally, from me, on behalf of the Club, a massive thanks to Hedley in particular, and all those coming in to help on this project; we've discussed it for years, but Hedley made it happen!

  3. You should stop feeling up idiots - unless it’s consensual, of course.

  4. SORN? What's that? Who needs a heater, windscreen or doors when you're slightly unhinged and have a Westfield umbrella?! 😂

  5. It is if not already then in the process of transferring to private, it was started yesterday, but I seem to remember being told it could take three days to complete(?) It was done for exactly the reasons you suggest. Our intent is to have exactly the same sort of "posting rules" as the forum does, with the same sort of behaviour and treatment of each other expected.

  6. Can I very respectfully ask if you've all considered carefully whether it should be a Public group or a Private but Visible one? For those who may not know, Public means that anyone can see who the members are and what they post and FB will share every post you make to all your FB friends including those who aren't group members. Also FB recently changed the rules so that anyone can join a public group without approval and then make posts, thus leaving such groups wide open to spammers and scumbags. Private but Visible means anyone can see that the group is there and see detailed info on it, but need to request to join (and be approved to join) before they can see posts & member details or post themselves. Posts you make are not shared outside the group. Many of the groups I'm in have switched Public to Private since the FB changes. Many of the other 7/Kitcar groups are set to Private. As an aside, a Private setting may have avoided the Jim Gould issue too. Personally I'm much more inclined to contribute to Private groups than Public ones. Hence the question.

  11. First, I'd like to say a huge thanks to @Gail Jones for all her help and support in the Shows and Events role over the past few years, both pre and post pandemic. It's not been easy at times courtesy of the Covid situation. Gail has now stepped down, as we have a fresh volunteer to take over! I'd like to welcome @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator to the role! Many of you will know Marcus well already, he's been a vital part of the Stoneleigh team for some years. As we are between elections/AGM's, as per the constitution, Marcus has been officially co-opted on to the committee until the next AGM. Thanks Marcus, and welcome!

  15. Its a great car and well built on the whole. I ended up getting it from Toybox in Feb 2020.... it had only done 800 miles at that point, I've done another 10,000 since then despite the lockdowns so she's being enjoyed!

  18. They say there's no such thing as a stupid question...... what do we need to search for within FB? 'WSCC' leads to the West Sussex Cannabis Community, and 'WSCC Social Group' has hundreds of weird suggestions. I'm part of the 'Westfield Sportscars' group, but I think that's something different (isn't it?) A link would be v helpful, please. TIA

  23. Just call round. Only 16 miles from you in Horsington. Didn’t build mine but have done lots of things from changing seats and suspension to new fuel lines, pumps etc. With regards to garages for Mot. Try Fulletby Motors. They have done mine for several years and were very good at noticing hairline cracks in the chassis. Whilst not good to get a fail it was much better to find it than not and many would not. Either way a simple chat will cover more topics than you anticipate. Andrew

  24. The next part is the wing linkage. MSUK have been pretty clear that I won’t be allowed to run with an adjustable aerofoil and having it fitted to the roll hoop is also a big no from them but regardless of this the car had one fitted when on the stand at the 1969 Racing Car Show so I wanted to recreate the part for shows. The original parts have been lost in time other than the mounting bracket on the back stay but luckily the Pathe film shows it’s operation clearly enough for me to recreate the linkage and I have Costin’s geometry plots for the wing.

  25. I’ll begin this update with an apology, I didn’t think I’d done as much over the last few months as I have and yet I’ve failed to keep this thread updated. I’d been waiting on some parts from the powdercoaters, which to be fair to them they turned around pretty quickly, it was more to do with the fact it took me a few weeks to find a day to drop them off. I then had a big order to send to the platers. but waited until I was absolutely sure it was everything. While this was going on I was doing a few jobs here and there to keep things moving forward. Then today I took a step back and realised the last time I updated this build thread the car didn’t have any suspension fitted. So here’s a catch up of where I’m up to…. Front suspension Rear suspension

  26. Lots of cloud and showers around, but managed to grab a few looks and some images up until about 10.40am. Nice to put the WSCC umbrella to good use! Some sunspots visible in this shot too.

  27. I wheeled the car out of the garage today to give myself better access to fit the clutch line so whilst it was out in the sun I took the chance to get a few photos.
