First, I'd like to say a huge thanks to @Gail Jones for all her help and support in the Shows and Events role over the past few years, both pre and post pandemic. It's not been easy at times courtesy of the Covid situation. Gail has now stepped down, as we have a fresh volunteer to take over! I'd like to welcome @Marcus Barlow - Show and Events Co-ordinator to the role! Many of you will know Marcus well already, he's been a vital part of the Stoneleigh team for some years. As we are between elections/AGM's, as per the constitution, Marcus has been officially co-opted on to the committee until the next AGM. Thanks Marcus, and welcome!9 points

After yesterday's wet weather shenanigans in the Peaks, last night a few of use decided to do a last minute Curborough meet as the forecast was a bit more civilised! Landing about 945, I had only a few minutes wait before being joined by @Glynn Walters, @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO , @HB46443, @Steve Bosworth, @neptune, @aeg, @jumbojackand @Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO! In total we had 7 Westies and 3 AO's, quite a line up for "SORN Eve" 😂 Not much in the cake department here, but the cholesterol filled fare seemed to go down well 😂 After couple of hours of friendly banter, loads of bacon butties and watching some eventful track action we all headed home. Steve and Glynn decided to follow me for a fast blat past Catton Hall, through Rosliston to Swadlincote (where I peeled off to base camp) and then on their own up to Ticknall and Melbourne to enjoy some of South Derbyshires best driving roads... hope you enjoyed the drive guys, we are blessed with some fab tarmac in this neck of the woods 👍 A great morning, thanks to everyone for coming, hope to see you on the next one!2 points

The next part is the wing linkage. MSUK have been pretty clear that I won’t be allowed to run with an adjustable aerofoil and having it fitted to the roll hoop is also a big no from them but regardless of this the car had one fitted when on the stand at the 1969 Racing Car Show so I wanted to recreate the part for shows. The original parts have been lost in time other than the mounting bracket on the back stay but luckily the Pathe film shows it’s operation clearly enough for me to recreate the linkage and I have Costin’s geometry plots for the wing.2 points

Hi, I'm somewhat reluctantly advertising my Westfield for sale. I've admitted to myself that I want to dip my toe in to the world of BEC's. It was built by a fairly wealthy retired chap in 2010 who had something of a 'gentleman racer' fantasy with the idea that he'd have a car that he could drive to the track, race and then subsequently drive home. As far as I know that idea remained something of a fantasy throughout his ownership, it never saw a starting line but he did build a really good car. Four years ago I wasn't really looking to buy a Westfield, just casually browsing the forum and stumbled across an advert for this car, once I'd viewed it, I realised it was too well built to miss out on and ended up buying it. The car is built on a 2010 Aerorace chassis power by a Zetec blacktop that was brand new at build date, the most recent rolling road graph I have shows 232bhp at the flywheel and 212bhp at the wheels Full Specification 2010 Aerorace chassis with removable rear arches (chassis marginally lighter and stiffer than the road chassis of the same period) fully road legal and the same dimensions as the standard SEIW. 11000 miles It has an MOT for another 9 months. Black bodywork with carbon front arches, in very good but not unmarked condition. In that spec at the last setup session with about 1/2 tank of fuel it weighed just under to 572g. Engine Built in 2010 with new Zetec Blacktop Head ported and polished by CNC heads and matched with their specification cam. Following this link ( http://www.cncheads.co.uk/?p=755 ) takes you to the website the tuner provides on this head and cam combination for more info, extrapolating the power claims CNC make ( 215bhp @ 6400rpm and 247 bhp @ 8200rpm) to the 7500rpm limit on this car fairly accurately supports the claimed power output on this engine. Arrow engineering buckets ARP rod bolts Balanced and polished crank Standard Zetec flywheel machined and lightened by CNC Heads Raceline sump Omex 600 ECU Jenvey throttle bodies Bosch green injectors Simpson Race Exhausts aluminium manifold 4 into 2 into 1 ( http://simpsonraceexhausts.com/manifolds/ ) Westfield carbon silencer Bespoke breathers all feeding into aluminium catch tank in the nose cone, although very little oil ever gets blown into the tank. Most importantly lots of time and effort spent mapping the engine. Despite it's relatively high state of tune it starts easily hot or cold, idles nicely and is generally very drivable and tractable with no grumpiness or nasty flat spots. In the interest of longevity the limiter is set at 7500 rpm at which point the power curve is still climbing. It also makes some lovely burbles and pops on the overrun. Centroid fuel sender which gives a better accurate fuel level reading. Cooling NEW black Aluminium race radiator from Radtec with 60mm core and Aerorace ducting ( http://radtec.co.uk/products/331/Vauxall-Ford-Cosworth.htm ) Custom pipe work and thermostat housing which ensures this car never has the cooling issues some Zetec Westfield suffer from, coolant temp is rock solid in both traffic and in hard use on track Drivetrain Helix fast road clutch Rebuilt Sierra 3.92 LSD, no clunks or play and locks up nicely but not too aggressively. I actually prefer this diff to the ATB I had in a previous car, although it's not quite as tight at slow speeds for 1st gear sillyness that seems to result in it never 'pushing' the car into understeer in faster corners on track. I therefore prefer the way the car drives in comparison to car with a tighter diff, however it wouldn't be as useful in an autocross type scenario. BGH E8 type 9 gearbox. Ratios and price listed in the following link, this is the strongest and most expensive 'box BGP supply ( http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/5_speed.html ). The ratios suit the engine very well with a usefully long first and 5th geared to a theoretical max of about 140mph. (Ratios are 2.66/1.75/1.26/1.00/0.86) Chassis Standard Aerorace chassis with associated extra bracing in comparison to same era road chassis, this car does not have lowered floors. Protech single adjustable shocks valved and setup by Procomp in Birmingham along with a full geometry setup, car runs with a reasonable amount of negative camber and some toe out at the front which gives a pretty sharp turn it, understeer isn't really something it understands! Anti roll bars are fitted to the front and rear 13 inch Compomotive CXR wheels in black with nearly new medium compound Toyo R888R in 205/50/13. Rallydesign Quickrack and sort steering arms fitted. Unlike some of the so called 'quickrack' setups I've seen this gives a real two turns lock to lock with the arches almost touching the tub on both sides on full lock, ie it's a genuine quick rack, not the version Westfield sell which is far from it and gives a terrible turning circle. Westfield alloy uprights both front and rear. Westfield widetrack front wishbones. Rapfix quick release steering boss has been fitted with a momo suede Mod.26 wheel Braking is a full AP racing setup including master cylinder and front and rear callipers. Fitted with Ferodo DS2500 pads and a brake bias adjuster. The car (in my opinion) drives beautifully, it's pointy, intuitive and hugely predictable but the setup is still relatively soft which means it's eminently useable as a road car with sensible ground clearance and great compliance while still being blisteringly quick on track. Other Bits Track prepared 13 inch ProRace 1.2 wheels in black with nearly new medium compound Toyo R888R in FRONT 185/50/13 REAR 205/50/13. Floor mounted Westfield padded race seats with 4 point Westfield harness for passenger and in date FIA 6 point harness for driver. Dash2Pro instrument with suede three spoke steering wheel and carpeted interior. FIA approved Caged Roll Cage with homologation sticker. New plumbed in Lifeline2020 fire extinguisher system. Lifeline FIA rain light which is wired to additionally act as fog light for MOT purposes. FIA approved battery cut off switch (which doubles up as a good security addition. PowerLight lithium battery. 8 Channel Freewheel system installed Dash2 pro with ECU connectivity Push button start TOAD Immobilizer Exterior/Carbon Front micro indicators Westfield.de Carbon V8 bonnet Westfield.de Carbon Nose Cone Westfield.de Carbon Aero Screen Westfield.de Carbon Cycle Wings Westfield.de Carbon Uprights Westfield.de Carbon Scuttle Westfield.de body mounted aero screen Carbon crash pad Recessed Dash2 mount into the carbon dash MickMade Carbon Rear bulkhead MickMade Carbon kick pads MickMade Carbon custom indicator pod MickMade Carbon Boot lid MickMade Carbon chassis rail protectors. It's got a great spec and, much more importantly, it's been really carefully built by someone who knew what they were doing and had both the time and cash available to do the job properly. I don't have to sell it and know that replacing it with a car of the same standard will be difficult. Thanks for reading,, Nick1 point

Just acquired one of these from my local Lidl for £39.95. No idea how I've survived so long without one!!!! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225154711009?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338343596&toolid=10001&customid=eb%3Ag%3Avms%3Aeb%3Ap%3A225154711009%3BEAIaIQobChMI7sedzquI-wIV0u3tCh1uhAhyEAQYBCABEgK6WvD_BwE&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1R4cjAwE3S9izPvrNfc8tLg64&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7sedzquI-wIV0u3tCh1uhAhyEAQYBCABEgK6WvD_BwE1 point

Please note the @wscc.co.uk addresses are now being blocked (spam filtered) at a Google/Microsoft level; we are looking for a permanent solution for this as a matter of urgency. Unfortunately, because they're being blocked at such a high level, no one gets notified when they are.1 point

Wow all taken into consideration and with purpose! Was wondering if IT is for a dry sump system maybe clever solutions! as for the washer i must look if there are still available fluid bags. I Rember we had such bag in fiat 125 when I was young. Or indeed fabricate sth in spare place. Maybe in rear hmm. Took some space with fuel swirl pot not sure if needed in road car but..somehow not trust flat wide horizontal fuel cell with one central tube for fuel supply. Also small but always oil catch tank.. all takes a space. Accu in the nose considered but wanted to make as low thick wires as possible still with on dash main power switch so abandoned this nosecone idea. And of course there is a mass distribution Yes Rember what You used to say not once "there are no two identical kitcars" ! but i believe we can take inspiration from others ideas and solutions , not copy but inspiration1 point

The two people that live the furthest away were the two that came in their Westfield's, I take my woolly hat off to you both, well done Andrew and Rob, pictured outside The Strines Inn. We came in our MX5 and others came in their dailies too. When I saw that Tricky Richard had posted I must admit that I licked my lips, thinking ooo he will come in something interesting. He did not disappoint in his growling BM that had been 'done' putting out over 400bhp. There is a first time for everything and this was our first Poppy Puppy on a meet, bought along by Des and Debs, cute eh. The first fire of the winter season as shown by our model, Hedley This was us having a jolly good chin wag, a combination of 4 areas with 4 AO's. Yorkshire, Derby & Notts, Cheshire & N Staffs and Peak District, well done to all. A car meet isn't proper unless cake is involved so off we went to Bird Cafe for some goodies. I had Pear and Raspberry Crumble with custard, which I was impressed with until Andrew's arrived, with loads more custard which looked thicker and creamier too. @Andy Westwood @aeg Andrew Parked at Bird Cafe, so called because you watch the birds on the feeders by the river from the window. It has been great to all meet up and have a good chat, the weather could have been better but I don't think it could have been any warmer in October. We all agreed that the venue was excellent so watch out for another 'Multi Area Meet at The Strines Inn' coming in the Spring.1 point

I jest of course, but you must admit it does look a bit like a toy bus! I ordered this Carcoon Evo some time ago, and it was a couple of weeks later arriving than expected, but I’m glad it’s here now. I had wanted a custom size to fit the garage better but as they don’t seem to be offering that currently, had to go for their size 3L which is a little long for comfort. It still seems to work ok though. I’ve popped a passive dehumidifier in there for good measure too. It was fairly easy to get setup, and inflates remarkably quickly (I thought so anyway, just a few minutes). Very pleased to have the car nice and snug for winter, and it’s not too much of a hassle to get the car out should there be some nice weather to enjoy. EDIT I discovered I had not put the outer filters on, so it now looks slightly less cartoony!1 point
