The weather in Montana, USA is slowly shifting toward fall and my race season is starting to wind down. Due to family issues I’ve not done as many race days as I have in years past but I have no complaints. So far I have 13 days of racing (with 4 more on the schedule) and I’m proud to say that I’ve set FTD (Fast Time of Day) on all 13 days. The car has been working so very well and the suspension changes (custom homemade ARB in front combined with the Siltech +35 widetrack A arms) has made it much easier to drive at the limit - particularly in high speed ‘flick’ moves that used to unsettle the rear. The car is just plain easier to drive now and the easier it is to drive, the faster you can go. Two of these photos show the car being raced in Billings, Montana where the next fastest car was a full-race Lotus Elan. The event is run in a very large parking lot that has great grip but is a bit gritty and dusty. The 3rd photo was taken yesterday morning in Helena, Montana not long after sun rise. The air is smoky from the large wildfires hundreds of miles to the west in Idaho and Washington State. Behind my car is a full race supercharged Atom and a Winston Cup Car made to look like a Pontiac Fiero (full tube chassis, carbon panels, mid mounted LS V8, Porsche transaxle, 600 hp) that is a true ground pounder. When it launches you can feel the ground vibrate. Four more days of racing - wish me luck in getting a full 100% FTD rate! dave7 points

So I bought the Westie in January with my wife telling me I was nuts and she didn't understand why I wanted a car like "that". Today she's taken it out by herself for the first time and now I find her studiously reading the new Westfield World that arrived today. Aside from hiding her booster cushion so she can't reach the pedals what should I do?2 points

Not wanting to tangent off the thread’s flow but wanting to share, we watched Spiderhead on Netflix last night - it was a good watch, but the soundtrack was the real star. The Logical Song - Supertramp Feelin' Like - Bad Colours feat. Jarv Dee I’ll Take You There - The Staple Singers Blitzkrieg - Blitzkrieg What A Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers Solfeggietto - The Swingle Singers Feels So Good - Chuck Mangione She Blinded Me With Science - Thomas Dolby Breezin' - George Benson Der Fruhling (Spring) - The Swingle Singers More Than This - Roxy Music Rise - Herb Alpert Mukuti - Rikki Ililonga Flume - Fred Szymanski You Make My Dreams (Come True) - Daryl Hall and John Oates Crazy Love - Poco OK, back to the thread…2 points

@DIY-Si hate to tell you this. I'm 6'4" and my wife is about 5'8". She just uses a lumbar support cushion to push her forward enough to reach the pedals. I can get details of the cushion if you want or you can pay me to keep it secret 😉 I'm lucky, my wife is a complete petrol head. Has been driving since she was about 10. Learnt to drive (legally) in a Capri so understands rear wheel drive. So I've no worry about the safety of the Westy, my concern involves more around possession of it.1 point

I'm thankful my other half isn't a real car person. As my car has been built to suit me at 6'3", at a slightly less 5'7", she can't reach the pedals. I'm pretty sure I'd have a heart attack from the stress of watching her drive it.1 point

Mine loved driving 'our' Westie on track but wasn't keen to drive it on road. I found it easier to watch from a distance.1 point

I am also very pleased witm my two carcoon's (outdor), one works for 3?4? winters, car out of it is in great condition, no rust on brake disc etc. Additional space I use for some spare gearbox etc parts, just laying on some piece of woods. Dont know how indoor is made, but outdoor has 2 layers of material so dont know if it is ok to roll it to shorten? Only cmplaiant I can say, had with inapriopriate filling of duty/custom forms from carcoon so I had to pay additional tax. First bought before brexit, no taxes, second after and tehere was some issues. Still cheaper than garage, and worth the price. Oh, with outdoor there is also issue with snow - carcoon has not enough pressure inside to keep shape under the snow, so one has to remove snow manualy sometimes every day during winter.1 point

My westfield spent a chunk of last winter in a carcoon sized for my BMW E36. The extra space in the bubble isn't a bad thing for the car... you just lose a bit more garden/ drive space and the bubble takes a few minutes longer to inflate.1 point

Good progress this weekend. I basically managed to clear the garage to a stage where the car will fit. More tidying to do, but the horrid bit, which was moving the large old shed which was taking up half the garage is done. Thanks to Mrs Stu for her stalwart help getting that done!1 point

Simon, can you pencil me in for this as a "maybe", reason is a housemove is planned and no idea financially if it will be possible. Regarding the number of cars, I can't help but did find this from our "7" freinds. Although I suspect we have had more than this at some point in the past. https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/forum/techtalk/maximum-number-vehicles-convoy?page=11 point

I refer the Right Honourable member to the answer I gave earlier: I would also point out that most, if not all of these examples pre-date her elevation to PM. Primarily the ones who dress in bright primary colours, but yep.1 point

Just another Sunday, stood there in Matlock waiting for the others to turn up, behind me I heard the familiar roar of engines which indicates that Rob has arrived with his rabble, all quite ordinary until I looked at his car and saw something a bit odd. There was a passenger, his son I thought until I looked, then did a double take, 'is it?' the helmet came off and OMG, it was!! Rob was carrying a legend in his car. We needed a photo moment so here we are with Garry Bun. So that made my day and a big thank you to Rob for bringing Garry along. A good start and the rest of the day did not disappoint, all the tourists have departed and we had a free run of the routes and refreshment stops at last. But first we have a good tyre kick and fix everyones car in the car park. Oh yes Glen, Garry found a speck of dust on our car The car park at McD's Matlock Time for a drink after all that activity I picked a very scenic route with lots of twisties on, it was just lovely, especially because I had Dave right behind me sounding really quite awesome...and I am used to Andrew's V8 singing to me. With no delays we arrived at The Miner's Arms in the plague village of Eyam. Car park Some people were eating later and just had sandwiches but Glen and I opted for the beef Sunday lunch, no complaints at all, 15 people served in super quick time. The dining room The dinner Sat with the Rolls Royce with views over to the cars A few people left here and the rest of us went cake hunting. We found some in Massarella's and the sunshine even joined us. Carrot cake and Hummingbird cake. We asked what it was before ordering and the answer we got is completely different to what google tells you it is, so I have no idea for sure what it was but it was fruity and had coconut on top. It isn't my favourite kind of cake and I probably wouldn't choose it again but don't let it put you off trying it as there is nothing to dislike. Now where is the chocolate cake hey😀 The car park I can't tell you if the Andrew's had cake, they are slacking a bit I think and need @Andy Westwood to come and show them the way🤣 Today has been just a fantastic day with the great roads, views, food and the very best bit is you, the company. Bring on the winter, if you SORN your car you are insane, it just gets better from now on. See you next time XXXX1 point

Many of you will know me as I have been in the club over 30 years and previously exhibited at Stoneleigh and enter the WSCC Speed series and have built and still own Westfields. But a quick intro about us. First thing is we are not the factory but are the largest stockist of car seats in the UK and probably the world. We are based in Edenbridge Kent. We have a small showroom where you can try seats. It all came about when I bought a second hand sport 2000S car around 2008 that was fitted with Westfield race seats. Being a well built lad who likes his ice creams I didn't really fit. A trip to Autosport the next January and I came across Tillett. Long story short but a B5 was perfect for me but nobody carried stock and the factory lead time then was about 8 weeks. So I became a stocking reseller and a few months later took delivery of about 50 seats. It's not our main business which is air conditioning but it is a fun sideline and introduces me to some great people and projects. And that is our model - to sell from stock which seems quite unusual in the motorsport world. The range of seats has expanded including the FIA seats and so has our stock holding. Lead times vary from 8 weeks to over 30 weeks depending upon the model and time of year. We sell about 200 - 250 seats a year and ship all around the world as well. We offer a special discount to WSCC members only given our background. Tillett are not cheap but they are the best shell seat in terms of shape and rigidity. The seat is your contact point with the car so must be correct. Feel free to call us if you need any advice whether for Westfield or any other car you may own. By appointment you are welcome to pop in and try the seats too. David1 point
