I’m starting this thread to try to keep focus on achieving getting my car from its current location in Wokingham, Berkshire at my parents, down to my home in Crewkerne before the end of September. I moved from Surrey (Walton-on-Thames) a year ago, and have a perfectly adequate garage to keep it in down there, it just happens to be filled with the bits of a large shed which came down with us but we probably won’t need and various other junk which can be reorganised to make room. I’ve just ordered a Carcoon Evo indoor storage bubble to keep it protected from damp, and that says it will be back in stock in 13 days, so between getting back from hols and the end of September I need to get the garage cleared, and co-ordinate a one way trip up to Berkshire to collect the car. I’m then hoping to get along to one or two of the Dorset or Somerset group meets before the weather turns too bad. So, please keep me honest; about any encouragement, cajoling, even bullying into getting my bottom in gear appreciated. Gratuitous pictures of the car just because.2 points

in order to achieve a normal numberplate, it needs to be proved that the car is mostly made from new parts and complies to modern requirements. Advantage being you can be sure it was made from all new bits and you can buy a vanity plate. A Q plate does not need to prove the age of components and therefore can not be given an age related plate. Advantages the emission rules are much looser usually just visual, and most/ if not all don't need a cat. Theres other stuff like fog lights and reversing lights which are a bit more optional at MOT time.2 points

Hi everyone, the second of our usual two track days per year is on Friday, September 23rd. There are some changes for this event, so will everyone read all of the details below and contact me as requested please. Also, please read the following disclaimer: ** To save the WSCC from any liability issues I have to let you know that the Curborough track days have been booked by Warwickshire Area Organisers independently (as they have been for the last 15 years) and are not therefore organised or sanctioned by the Westfield Sports Car Club. ** As usual we are keeping it to only 15 cars, with first choice on the limited number of places to Warwickshire Area WSCC members, then followed by the wider WSCC membership. If all the places are not filled, I will post it on the Warwickshire Area Facebook page and accept non-WSCC members to make up the numbers. The main change this time is that I have arranged to have the on-site cafe provide us with food and drinks for the day instead of my BBQ. Clearly there is an additional cost for this, so the fee has been adjusted accordingly. The cost this time will be £85 per car/driver, if all 15 places are filled. Any additional driver/passenger will be £15 to cover food. I intend to open the gates around 9am, the track will open at 10am, with lunch from 1pm until 2pm and finishing at 5pm. The proposed fee will cover all the costs but any surplus will be donated to the appropriate WSCC charity (Air Ambulance). However, if we cannot fill all the places then I will have to ask for additional funds to cover the cost of the hire. Ideally, I would like to see all monies paid by the 16th September. These track days are often oversubscribed therefore we will keep a reserve list in case of last minute withdrawals but refunds for non-attendance cannot be guaranteed. Please follow the instructions below; 1. Send me a PM with your full name and email address 2. Pay the full balance by bank transfer to the details I return to you, ASAP please 3. Read the track hire rules sent to you 4. Read the menu below and indicate a lunch preference Menu Breakfast - bacon & egg or sausage & egg sandwiches Lunch - Burger & chips or curry & chips Drinks - tea, coffee & squash available all day (Other items may be purchased from the cafe on the day) Finally, due to the requirements of managing the track entrance I could do with at least one assistant who is prepared to attend and help with organising without driving or alternatively a few drivers to give up driving time to assist. Please message me if you wish to volunteer. This is always a great day and a safe way to explore the limits of your car and yourself with only one car on the circuit at a time. If you need any more information on this event, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I will add names to this list as they are booked - 15 PLACES AVAILABLE: 1. Justin Lever 2. Mark Jones 3. Adrian Parham 4. Mike Williams 5. Tony Marley 6. Tony Shakeshaft 7. Rhett Turner 8. Nick Mucklow 9. Ian Heawood 10. Hedley Bennett 11. Dean Bakehouse 12. Rob Hunter 13. Glynne Walters 14. Paul Ward 15. John Moore Reserves 1. Mark James Pulled out:1 point

Just bought this SE and I wondered if anyone recognises it? Previously owned at some point in the past ten years by Mark Robson who I believe was a WSCC member for a couple of years, based in the Wirral area (the car has the club's 30th anniversary sticker on the rear tub). Previous invoice history is limited and I believe the work to the 1.6 X flow was done at some point during the period 2005 to 2010. It's running 45 Webers and a live rear axle, gearbox is described as a 'Rocket' box which many will know is the Ford type E 4 speed, but I'm fairly sure its a Type 9 as it has 5 forward gears! The seats are a very recent new replacement and the wheels are 'temporary' 15" Peugeot alloys put on just for the sale, so not what the car would have been originally shod with. Any info on the car's history would be really helpful, please pm. Many thanks. Gareth1 point

Q is only good news for the reasons above, especially at MOT time. No one knows the age of the car, either. People are genuinely surprised when I tell them my car is 30 years old. Also highly unlikely to get your plate cloned, a Q plate on anything mass produced would stand out like Piers Morgan wearing a dress in life boat. Never had an issue with insurance.1 point

Nothing wrong with a Q plate, so don't let that put you off. Never had a problem with insurance, @Carlie APlan. Also MOT as a pre 1974 car, so no emissions test, just a visual check.1 point

Good to speak to you and hope you will get the sprinting and hillclimb bug. As I explained only the results for events in our calendar will count towards the Speed Series etc. You can also join other clubs if you think that will get you an entry closer to TorQuay/Brixham. Hope to see you in the paddock1 point
