What a day!! Firstly let’s deal with the weather. It was blinking hot. Left home at 7.30am wearing shirt sleeves and shorts with no jumper. Just about ok. By the time we arrived at Matlock, shirt sleeves were getting a bit much. It only got hotter from there. Mad Dog Pete was living up to his nickname and dressing for -5 instead of the +30 and trying to look miserable when a camera is produced. At Matlock McD, we were joined by Dave Eastwood, Andy Dowler with Co pilot Oscar, Andy Westwood with Sue, Martin, Ian Kinder and Steve Bosworth with Co pilot Vicky (hopefully got that right as hopeless with names!) Ian left as he had family commitments and Martin didn’t come with us on the trip as his car needed attention and he had come in his tin top. Andy and Becky were going to come but poor Andy was not feeling good - I have commiserated and sent him a photo of our cake to cheer him up!! So a convoy of 5 with no red ones for a change (they were probably all together at Curbrough) left Matlock and we made our way via the smaller roads to Edale and The Rambler Inn. It is tradition to park prettily for photos but Andy Westwood didn’t so his car didn’t make the cut. 😁 I don’t know how Andy Westwood consumes so much. Look at the size of his dinner! This is just the first course and he also ‘helped’ with Sue’s. After dinner Andy Dowler left and the remaining partly cooked nutters moved on again via the small roads to The Stone Centre in Wirksworth where cakes were consumed. I’m certainly not in the running to take over from our esteemed leader @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative and there was quite a lot of luck involved such as the prime parking being available at The Rambler Inn and getting to the Stone Centre 5min before closing time and finding the car park empty. Must just note that due to an IT hiccup on Saturday evening, my TomTom would not load the designed route. Hastily written crib sheets were made and Mad Dog Pete saved the day by constantly updating the route as we went. Couldn’t have done it without him. 2 hour drive from Wirksworth got us home. 6hrs of Westfield driving in an oven. Nothing like it. Batton passed back to Julie when she stops pretending to be Alan Wicker and returns home for at least one weekend. Thanks everyone for coming. Hope you got home ok.8 points

Thanks @AndrewBClarkefor a great run around the Peaks. @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative would have been proud of your great route planning. We both had a great day with great company. Though you didn't find a cow muck🤣you did find a narrow road with about twenty plus tractors coming towards us🤣the last one being the the biggest. Thanks again for doing a brilliant job today.7 points

It just goes to show you can't beat a bit of paper and a good memory, beats silly sat navs any day. Glad you all had a good run out and we thought about you all day, we even had cake for breakfast at Brantwood on Coniston Water. Sorry to miss our new people, @Steve Bosworth and Vicky and hope to see you next time. @neptune hope your car is easily fixable? Normal service will resume next Sunday. Lots of love from Glen and Julie, holiday extraordinaire's4 points

Well, it seemed even hotter today! Fab turnout, with loads from the WSCC, a few from NWKCOG that had taken a run over and one couple (in a Luego they'd owned just a few weeks) who arrived later just by pure confidence so joined us in the line up. In total we had 15 cars 👍 Some beautiful cars on track too, classic Minis, a Manta, Scimitar, Caterhams, Westfields, a few formula fords, and a load of old Austin 7 based racers. One really unusual car that caught my eye was a Terrapin Mk5. A space framed race car with the front wheel drive engine and gearbox from an old Mini sat behind the driver! Really great to see you all, hope everyone got home safe and didn't get too sunburnt!3 points

Really enjoyed the day! Great, and mostly smooth(!) roads 😁 Fantastic weather again, just an awesome day out. Thanks to Brad and Diane for all the work that went into making the event so enjoyable. It was good to catch up with everyone on the day and at the hotel later. Thanks all! 👍2 points

Once again, a good days route challenge from Brad and Diane over a rural area of the borders, with surprisingly little traffic. All the hours (days) of preparation and professional route cards were much appreciated. Well done to Brian, who showed us all how navigate properly, despite being solo in the V8! Dave and Jen2 points

Hi everybody, time has come to introduce myself. I'm Pierre, french guy, 51 year old, living in north of France. In may this year an opportunity to buy a Westfield came to me, and so I did. It's a factory built ZEI 1800 first reg 1999. Not over powered (118bhp), but a nice example to start with. Full stock, red, underslung exhaust, only 19000 miles from new! First question : how can I share pictures here? the last past months I gave it a good overhaul, changing sensors, timing belt, new exhaust, new ignition coil and plugs, new fuel filter, air filter cleaned up, etc... car is running fine but still got same problem since I own it : ignition cuts randomly. Everytime engine starts again so I never had to pull over, although I'm still trying to find out and running out of ideas... In the meantime I started to go into the IVA process here in France. I read here in another thread that ZEI were made to get European approval type, so I hope that'll be not that tricky! Cheers, Pierre.1 point

Thanks to everyone who joined the run this year, especially Brian and Dave'n'Jen who've made it 3 for 3. The weather was great, though maybe a little too hot and no wind (back of my neck is a bit scorched), the roads were near empty, and a lovely evening at the hotel with some bevvies and banter. The only thing missing was a few more cars to make the day even more fun. And a nod to Brian who was the only one to not miss a beat yesterday (no lost, no cheat, no emergency envelope open), while man-handling his V8 brutus, and solo to boot! Cheers, Brad and Diane1 point

@Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO that car is lovely. I have nothing to say about the “cup holder”1 point

It was once, but even when the factory was still going they had little stock left for narrow cars, from now on you will have to make stuff like this yourself 👍1 point

I just cut out the shape and size in aluminium sheet material, then covered in sticky backed faux carbon fibre. Looks like it's cut straoght from CF and once it gets damaged just peel off and replaces with new. Used ss dome head bolts and nyloc nuts so that it's easy to service. Cheap and effective🧐1 point

You should have taken a long weekend and came up to Scotland for the Mystery Run (and overnight hotel) yesterday.1 point

I’m posting this advert on behalf of Steve’s wife Dawn. So, here for sale is a very well built and documented Westfield Sport 250 built by Steve (Bugman) before he sadly passed away. The initial Idea was for Dawn to keep the car and eventually hand it down to Josh but insurance prices and his age make that in-achievable. Anyway, This is Steve’s build diary for anyone with any questions regarding what’s in the car and how it was built. 2018 Post office Red Westfield Sport 250, FW rear end with a V8 bonnet upfront. 2700 miles from new MOT until Jan 2023 2.0 Ford Ecoboost engine Mazda NC 5 speed gearbox Sport turbo seats AIM Dash Widetrack Front Suspension Wet weather Gear (Roof & doors) Removable Steering Whee + loads more Steve had lots of electrical/mechanical upgrades planned for the car which will all be included in the sale. Some of these include extra ducts for cooling, switches for a new dash layout and a Carbon Fibre front splitter £28000 Anyone interested can contact Dawn on 07896067600.1 point
