What a great day out in the sunshine! Ash, Alex, John, Gary, Ben, Hedley (riding shotgun in the MNR), Tim, Martin and I all met up at the services for a chat and refuel before heading north. The journey was quite good fun as traffic was unusually light for most of the drive. We landed at the Woodside Cafe to find Glynn already there. Also there was Michael from Chesterfield who I'd invited along as he'd never been out on a group run. He owns a 1.8 turbo Mazda MK Indy and is interested in joining the club, what better way of selling membership than a Peaks run! The wider nose of the MK sure makes the turbo install easier... Shortly afterwards Lee arrived so we all indulged in a brew and some breakfast. The stars then aligned and we had an empty car park! Reminiscent of a Le Mans start, everyone rushed to shuffle the cars and get some stunning photos! The Woodside Cafe is a real old school "greasy spoon" but the car park does make a good photo 👌 After watching Hedley wandering up and down at least 153 times with his daft stick, Gary headed home and the rest of us decided to head off to find some quiet roads and some lunch. Traffic was awful up to Newhaven, but much better through Hartington, Hulme End and Crowdecote. Lee had a cycle wing malfunction enroute so we got split up into 2 groups but no harm done as everyone arrived at the Bull Yard (previously the Bull i Thorn) within minutes.... all except Lee.... A quick phone call established he was limping to meet us. Never one to miss an opportunity for a wind up, I quickly retrieved a sign I keep for such emergencies and attached it to Lee's roll cage 😂 After some leg pulling, Glynn brought out the trusty gaffer tape and a temporary repair was completed 👍 After a few photos (and Hedley yet again wandering around with a stick! 🤦♂️), Tim headed home and the rest of us went to seek food! A few minutes later Luke and his lovely wife Gemma arrived in the SEiGHT making eleven of us in total. A huge thanks to everyone for coming today, hopefully it came somewhere close to the amazing job @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative does! See you all on the next one! Thanks Rob7 points

Brilliant job @Rob Hunter Derby & Notts AO, you have been well trained 😛, thank you sweetie. So what is the verdict on The Bull Yard / Bull i Thorn place? good food? worth going back there? the paint was still wet when we called in a few weeks ago. Here in Snowdonia the Llanberis Pass is full of Caterhams! not that I have a photo, but here is my cars bed for the night.6 points

The savoury food was pretty good, the Yorkshire pudding wrap with roast potatoes seemed to go down very well! We didn't see any cake though 🤷♂️ Have a great time 👍2 points

A personal request only, but please for the love of God lets not descend into those awful, awful finger pointing pictures, so many people that aren't used to group runs etc that I speak to really find them off putting, and scare them off. That's not to say we should hide our woes and whoopsies! So I'll throw one in there! I got a bit carried away with the magnificent tunnels in the Alps, slowed down, dropped into second, and absolutely gunned it.... I deafened everyone in the tunnel and may have nearly triggered the apocalypse when I blew the entire silencer off the end of the manifold; causing a sound in the tunnel reminiscent of being nuked, a giant blue flame fireball next to the car, and a second ball of sparks, where the car was now dragging on the road, at xxx mph! Tapping a VERY hot silencer back onto the manifold, with a little tapping stick that @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO "found" by the road side. And the comedy moment; the gloves I was using were wet through, from the boot, great handling the Mega hot silencer, right up to the point the water in the left glove turned to steam, and I shot backwards rolling around on the floor trying to get it off, much to everyone's puzzlement! (Except @Greenstreak-Andy D who chose a very well earned moment of revenge to get a photo!2 points

I was asked by my daughter if I could provide 3 cars to take her friend and his 2 brothers to his wedding today. A shout out on the WhatsApp group got @Morley and @marcusbinterested with the mention of some beers. The wedding was at 1:30, so we met at Marcus' before to put some ribbons on the cars, then headed over to the groom's house. We had some interest while waiting in the supermarket car park. It was only a short run from there into Huddersfield and the Town Hall. After getting a bit lost with the one way system and bus lanes, we managed to get them there on time, well, on time to go to the pub for a pint! Congratulations to Micky and Martha.2 points

Hi all! In the absence of @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative and Glen (who have more holidays than Alan Whicker!), we are doing a Peaks meet and run out tomorrow morning. It probably won't be as exciting as Julie's runs (I dont have same encyclopaedic knowledge of the Peaks!) but I'll do my best! We will meet up at the Woodside Cafe on Via Gellia Road (DE4 2AJ) at 10am for the usual coffee, butty and a chat before heading off for a 40 minute drive. We will head west through to Hartington and Hulme End and then north up to the Bull Yard (the renamed and reopened Bull I Thorn, SK17 9QQ) on the A515 for about 12 ish for a spot of lunch before going our seperate ways👍 For those coming from the south, we will do the normal A50/A38 services (DE65 6DX) pre meet for 9am so we can convoy up together. Hopefully we will see some of you in the morning, the forecast is looking good 😎1 point

Saw some Caterhams coming through Ashford-in-the-Water this afternoon. We gave them a wave and they didn't wave back, but the McLaren group behind them waved and gave thumbs up so that made up for it Also, thank-you to whoever picked up our drinks on the tab at the pub, I will have to buy them in return next time out1 point

Out this afternoon to check that the roadworks (closed roads) on the route were finished. Weather forecast for next weekend is really good, especially Saturday for the run. See you the start, 9am at Cairn Lodge Services, M74!1 point

Right well, thanks to a cousins schoolchild who gave me a bug, I have been pretty much AWOL as far as driving was concerned, with many days in bed and Lemsips on tap, I feel almost normal again, so today was my first day out for over a week... And what a day it was. The many photos can be seen elsewhere on the forum here so I won't post them all again, but my first car show for 30 years ( car racing and dogs got in the way) was attended today. Just a local show but once there was a reminder of what I had been missing all those years. Getting there was a tad fraught for a mate of mine who had his front calipers sieze on the way there, he let them cool down and met me at the house I am staying at. We drove there slowly ( well he did 😁) and managed to get onto the show ground with minutes to spare. Great day was had meeting both old and new friends, given I feel a lot better expect more very soon.1 point

Oh yes, loud doesn’t really fully explain, let me give you an idea …. I was at the back, in the tunnel when @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman gunned it and at some top end revs there was an explosion 💥! I was 3 cars behind and I could feel the vibration from Dave’s car! earlier in the day, Stu found his 10mm spanner he had misplaced. It was in the rear bodywork where I indicate with the arrow! Unbelievable it had stayed there since his build!1 point

Sorry Rob, did this yesterday, fancied a blast but no one had posted a trip out, (didn't realise Julie was away...... Again! 🤨😆), guess I should have suggested? Will try to get out with you all next time, as I'm due a meet with you all, as it stands a 40+ mile mountain bike ride is in the offing this morning.1 point

Losing track of what day we are up to, but hey ho... No Westy content at all, but did have a great trip down to Malvern in a tintop, a freind had to take his wife there and I tagged along as well. Sadly we arrived in the evening so the place was shut, but I have always wanted to see where Morgan actually are, hoping to return and do one of their tours I keep hearing about.1 point

Limited Edition Sports Carbon Westfield Limited run of 25 cars only Factory Built Huge specification as follows (I might have forgotten some details) Dunnel built 'blue printed' Zetec engine. 2.0l. The engine cost GBP9,850.00 and produces 232bhp with strong and linear torque curve. This engine pulls hard from 3,500rpm and produces max power at 7,000rpm. (I have a folder detailing every aspect of this engine). Done 6,000 miles on this engine, with the car covering 9900 miles in total Throttle bodies Mappable ECU with external module Quaife straight cut gearbox. Made to complement the engine Super wide wishbones Large brakes Tillet seats 5 point straps Plumbed in fire extinguisher Full roll cage Carbon diffuser and nose ducts Custom roof cover carbon sides Lots more small bits This car is extremely well set-up for road and track use. The suspension is dialed in perfectly for a driver of 80+/- kg. The best of everything went into this car. A few very small stone chips to be expected but this car is like new structurally. It truly is one of the very best cars I've owned. (its not an abused track day toy) I am only selling as I'd like to try a Westfield Megabusa or a similar BEC. Come take a look Price!! GBP15,995.00 or close offer.1 point
