  2. Lovely ride around today with just the roof on and no doors. Shade from the sun and a nice breeze. Felt perfect!

  3. If you couldn't make it or weren't sure if it was worth the trip I have put some photo's on for you so you can decide for yourself. My opinion? it was only lacking in one thing and that was YOU AND YOUR CAR. There were 12 Westfield's there today. We paid £15 to enter, £5 driver, £10 passenger, Rob tells me he paid £10 for both days including camping. I guess the first year is always going to be the quietest year, so it will be interesting to see how it evolves but it is only a few minutes drive away from the A1, geographically speaking it is easy access to a very large audience. You can see Rob and Glynn's tents behind the cars. Tony and Russ, our new friends The only club branded item on show was the Peak District flag Spiderman and Lady Bug were walking around the show @AndrewBClarke kept up the Peak District tradition in @aeg and @Andy Westwood 's absence and was eating most of the day The weather remained dry with only a few spots of rain back in Chesterfield and it was so warm, humid even, the driving was really weird. 1 cyclist, no tractors, speed limits lower than the wide country road suggests, very boring and very quiet so I am looking forward to getting back on some steep, twisties next weekend. Lovely to see you, all 12 of you🙄😁👍

  4. Good morning Newark! You'll be glad to hear, it's currently dry and reasonably warm. You'll be less glad to hear I've got my legs out as a result 😎 After a couple of hours in the bar listening to the band we spotted the weather forecast.... rain overnight! Cars suitably(ish) covered we all turned in. There will be some sore heads this morning 😂 One area that Newark is definitely a huge improvement over Stoneleigh..... proper hot showers! Far more civilised and I don't smell like a camels armpit crossed with Lynx Africa for day 2! 😂 Hopefully see some of you soon 👍

  5. Unfortunately we hadn't got the Peak District "magnet of doom" with us today, so we just had to make do with lots of banter and a bit of pointing when @Andy83 had a little gear linkage malfunction in his lovely Megabusa 😂 Makes a change, it's normally me that has something fall off 🤦‍♂️

  6. Day 5 Great day, this morning was dry so went for a short run, called into the local craft centre but no leatherette was found. Need to go into town for that. Took a pic anyway I then took a run to see an old house my gran once owned, by chance the owner was watering his garden, and as I was parked up, the chap looked at me ,I looked at the chap - this went on for some seconds… Not wishing to appear a weirdo. I got out of the car and explained who I was and my attachment to the house. Once i gave him enough info on the house he very kindly showed me the house both inside and out. Some great memories came flooding back. On the way home called into the Cottage Loaf pub, another old haunt from my Triumph car club days I didnt photograph my lunch, pub was too busy and it felt weird taking a pic of a sandwich… Busy day tomorrow with a family gathering, next week i plan on doing North Wales for a day or so More soon

  8. So a day behind , lol. Yesterday we left Coo and headed to Dinant Citadal and on to Lille. The morning stint saw as to for fuel and supplies at the local patisserie in Trois Pont , on we pressed and I got into trouble from Sammy as the roads through the Ardennes were unbelievably smooth and twisty, after having a great time I pulled over and waited. Together again we carried on at a more gentile rate until a motorbike taunted me and off we went enjoying more of the same as he turned off we waved and I pulled over eventually greeted by a shake of the head from Sammy and Trina. arriving at the Citadel we had our alfresco snack of fresh Croissants , choc au pain and cakes lol we explored the citadel, cathedral and hired a boat to cruise the river for an hour or so ( did my best captain pugwash impression lol ) then lunch on the riverside beckoned. Then it was onto Lille where I Han an appointment at Autotechnic for some brake pads , later changed in the hotel car park. Today we took the train into Paris did the main attractions tour and the Eiffel Tower, now on the train headed to Lille ( delayed 1 hr , c’est la vie ) Tomorrow it’s all go again as we head for Hampshire and Sammy to Carlisle.

  10. Apologies if this isn't within the WSCC rules and if so I will remove post. On the 29th July I will be walking 35 km alongside 8 other work colleagues to raise money and awareness for 'Young Lives vs Cancer' after a work colleague (Paul) in 2021 received the devastating news that his Daughter Lily had been diagnosed with a type of brain tumour that had not been seen before which caused the specialists concerns on the best way to treat her. They opted for the fact she is young (14 at the time) and otherwise fit and healthy so they hit her hard with radiotherapy and chemotherapy after the tumour had been surgically removed. Fortunately she seems to be on the mend which is a miracle with what she has been through including being placed in an induced coma during her treatment to lessen the impact as some organs had started to shut down and then receiving therapy to help her speech as this had been impacted also. I feel slightly awkward posting this here along with my donation page link mainly due to the fact I've not met any members face to face for along time and the majority I've never met at all. But I think we can all agree it's a worthwhile charity that I hope myself or anyone else for that matter will never need to use. "Glen Ivey is fundraising for Young Lives vs Cancer" https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Glen-Ivey Thank you for taking the to time to read this. Kind regards Glen

  11. Somewhat insanely, I drove the car into work from my parent’s house this morning. Wokingham to near Dartford up the M3 and around the M25. Left at 6am to avoid the traffic and it was fine, good fun on the occasional roundabouts and twisty bits. I don’t have side screens or even wind deflectors so it gets a bit blowy at 70mph, the ears are ringing nicely now. I certainly feel alive and awake this morning though. It put a smile on my face, plus a few other passing drivers who seemed to like the car. Hopefully traffic home this afternoon won’t be too bad. The car seems to run quite hot so I don’t want any overheating problems. It sat around 90 degrees, edging up to 95 at times even with the fan on. The gauge may well be inaccurate so I need to check that out with an IR gauge when I get the chance, perhaps it’s not an issue. But it’s only about 20 degrees out there currently, so I doubt it would cope with 30 plus. Need to see what improvements I can make. First experience of driving with the Lonsdale trainers today too. Positive result, they made life easier and I can even manage a vaguely successful/smooth attempt at heel and toe downshifts, but I would need some new words to describe the unusual parts of my right foot needed to achieve this 🤪. My brake pedal is much too low to make it an easy process, another item on the list of improvements!

  12. tub positions can have slight variations against chassis pick up points so I wouldn't advise using someone else's template (from experience!)

  15. Hi Ben if you do come up north give me a bell either on here or by pm and we can hopefully arrange to meet up id echo the sentiments of Chris the west / north side going clockwise is the best, however there are some interesting points to explore with your good lady amongst these are gardens and castle of mey, Dunrobin castle, if you don’t mind a walk then add Fyrish monument . heading down to Edinburgh can be done with the minimal motorway by taking the Glenshee road and again coming north it’s possible to take the scenic route via aberfoyle the dukes pass then head for tyndrum , glencoe, a wee detour along Glen Etive (Skyfall fame ) then fort William and Inverness . like I said give me a shout once we’re home / your ready and we can discuss if you want cheers Gary

  16. LC1 The twin 40's made them the best sounding car of the time. Remember them well when Jim Clark and others raced at Crystal Palace and Brands Hatch, cocking the inside front wheel. Always just out of my reach when I thought I had enough money to buy one.

  21. Day 4 Same as day 3, was going to venture out but the drizzle just kept coming on and off, unlike most road trips / holidays I am not tied into being at a certain hotel or location at a given time, this means I can pick and choose when to go on a run. I did a bit more in the garden inbetween the rain and got that bit finished. Tomorrows forecast says it will be dry all day, we will see. Got a mate calling round shortly, where some beers may be drunk... More soon.

  22. 7Early start this morning after packing the car late last night. Glynn, Tony, James and myself met up at the Carcrowd Cafe for a brew and a chat. Definitely a place for a meet at some point 👍 We then headed to the show to meet the rest of the crew. The halls were at least as good as Stoneleigh, but seemed like there were a few more small traders in attendance. I will post more pictures tomorrow as the beer has started to flow 😂

  23. I had an old bath in the garden that did the same thing, come back from a winter walk and straight in the bath, mind you I then had soaking carpets in the house what with 12 paws running about.😄

  28. We have done a Highland Tour for the past 4 years and have done most off the NC500. Will no doubt be up there again next year. We tend to go end of May or early June to avoid the midges. We also don’t bother with much of the actual NC500 route as a lot of it isn’t that great and actually misses some of the more spectacular roads up there. We tend to travel up one side of Scotland stopping overnight on the way then spend a good 3-4 days with Ullapool as a base but have also stayed just north of Inverness. Then we follow the weather and go for 2-300 mile runs each day around the superb roads that are way up north. Then travel back down the other side. We always try and fit in a run through Glenshee either on the way there or on the way back. Highly recommended 👍
