Not that there was much to start with, but this seals it I reckon. I’m unfortunately living up to my forum name currently so have had to remove the seat from my SEi to fit in comfortably. To date I’ve just been sitting on the floor, which is fine for half an hour or so, but even with a generous behind it does get a bit numbing after a while. Cue an old garden seat cushion from Mum’s shed 🤪. Surprisingly comfy, and I guess no one will see it until I get out! In other news, my Lonsdale trainers bought after a tip from here (thanks @BigSkyBrad 👍) seem ideal. I bought half a size under and they are pretty tight, but it makes life a lot easier down in that pedal box as I’m a size 11.5 points

And just like that it’s over 🥲🥲 A fantastic day and what an experience and to top it all off Sammy Taylor did her first ever track day at Spa in the westy , one very proud dad!! It stayed dry to the last session when the heavens opened , at which point we called it a day ( also almost out of rear pads 😃 ) I’m not normally lost for words but maybe later, just to say Tommy did us proud 👍 ( those that know know) A few pics from today and hopefully once home some decent video. Would we come back? Planning it already lol.I5 points

I would say in the words of a certain Colin Chapman, added lightness.................... However based on the owners own admission. Perhaps this isn't appropriate. As I said to a former colleague (nickname was Lard) who was fitting perspex windows to his Nova Rally car at great pain and expense, it was suggested it would be easier and more cost effective to go on a bacon slicer 🤣3 points

Oops going to be a weet one on track , up to a classic Ardenne storm , absolutely chucking it down !! Better take a change of clothes for later on ! Hopefully we’re still on to run , it’ll be just like home lol, need to be there in 3 hours time forecast to pass by 11, still if it’s wet no need to worry about the temps !!!3 points

Somewhat insanely, I drove the car into work from my parent’s house this morning. Wokingham to near Dartford up the M3 and around the M25. Left at 6am to avoid the traffic and it was fine, good fun on the occasional roundabouts and twisty bits. I don’t have side screens or even wind deflectors so it gets a bit blowy at 70mph, the ears are ringing nicely now. I certainly feel alive and awake this morning though. It put a smile on my face, plus a few other passing drivers who seemed to like the car. Hopefully traffic home this afternoon won’t be too bad. The car seems to run quite hot so I don’t want any overheating problems. It sat around 90 degrees, edging up to 95 at times even with the fan on. The gauge may well be inaccurate so I need to check that out with an IR gauge when I get the chance, perhaps it’s not an issue. But it’s only about 20 degrees out there currently, so I doubt it would cope with 30 plus. Need to see what improvements I can make. First experience of driving with the Lonsdale trainers today too. Positive result, they made life easier and I can even manage a vaguely successful/smooth attempt at heel and toe downshifts, but I would need some new words to describe the unusual parts of my right foot needed to achieve this 🤪. My brake pedal is much too low to make it an easy process, another item on the list of improvements!2 points

Day 2 What a busy day, took the car for a run this morning just to get used to the roads around here again, predictably ended up at Parkgate, but the front was too busy so stopped at the Boathouse Pub end for a photo. Flint and North Wales in the background. The rest of the day was spent helping one of my oldest friends move house , 2 Transits and 2 Lutons later we had all his gear in the new house ( never want to see another cardboard box again 😄) I am sorry I can't show you the foods you are used to seeing on this forum, but after 9 hours of box humping this was ideal. I think tomorrow is a lazy day - give my back a rest... More soon.2 points

Funnily enough, I've been taking lots of weight out of my own car, means I can have more cake on the Peaks runs 😂2 points

🤣🤣🤣 that is truer than you might think! My easiest route to better performance is likely to be losing the at least 30kg I know I can shift, when I may request a name change to ‘slightlychunkyblokestu’ 😉 It would be great to reach a stage where I can lose the flowery cushions and refit the driver’s seat.2 points

Now @HB46443 has raised his seat runners, he might have a spare cushion you can have 😂2 points

Maybe stuff it inside a black cover ? to make it a bit more discreet🤣2 points

We have done a Highland Tour for the past 4 years and have done most off the NC500. Will no doubt be up there again next year. We tend to go end of May or early June to avoid the midges. We also don’t bother with much of the actual NC500 route as a lot of it isn’t that great and actually misses some of the more spectacular roads up there. We tend to travel up one side of Scotland stopping overnight on the way then spend a good 3-4 days with Ullapool as a base but have also stayed just north of Inverness. Then we follow the weather and go for 2-300 mile runs each day around the superb roads that are way up north. Then travel back down the other side. We always try and fit in a run through Glenshee either on the way there or on the way back. Highly recommended 👍2 points

Testing on Friday so heading off to the circuit in under 24 hours.... I'm getting pretty excited now. Not really nervous like I was before the first meeting. I put this down to a lack of sleep and misplaced confidence. Seriously though, having some experience of how the race meetings run and knowing where to be and when really sets the mind at ease and one less thing to worry about. Weather looks interesting - ideally it would be consistent across testing and race day, but looks like we will have a fair bit of rain on Friday, with some rain and 26 degrees on Saturday, so hot and humid with luck of the draw as to track conditions. Hopefully we'll call it right else we'll end up running a dry set up in the wet. To be fair, I'm pretty confident in the wet on track days so hopefully this translates to a slippery Oulton with 26 other lunatics. Once thing I didn't get last time was any actual race starts, which is frustrating. I had a few practice starts at the club track day off the line at Blyton and have the theory nailed at least. In practice, on the day, we'll see. With @Simon Waterfall Syman84 sprinting experience I fully expect him to demolish me off the line. Fingers crossed for some close, clean racing (and no rapid unscheduled engine disassembly this time)2 points

They still need to spend time converting/transferring whatever you send, plus the materials, plus the overhead of the equipment etc. Your just a cheapskate Jared 🤣🤣1 point

Smart looking car! When I bought my Westfield in 2003 it came from Brighton and I lived in Beaconsfield so the M23, M25, and M40 were on the itinerary. Like yours, this Pinto engined car had a tendency to run hot especially as it was a hot day. The inevitable stop-start traffic on the clockwise section around Leatherhead to Staines found my wife in the passenger seat getting hot coolant trickling down the bulkhead by her feet. It stopped if we were moving but started again in traffic. The fan was switched manually and it paradoxically seemed to aggravate the overheating even on the move. I got off the M25 and wriggled my way home on non-motorway routes with no further trouble. The chap from whom I bought the car didn't build it and wasn't au fait with automotive nuts 'n' bolts so he hadn't discovered the cause. The cause was a fundamental error by the builder who had fitted the electric fan the wrong way round so that when it was running it was sucking air out through the radiator matrix against the ram-air direction instead of forcing it through from outside and augmenting the natural air-flow! My first task the following day was to reverse the fan and reinstate the thermostatic switch that someone had bypassed in an attempt to cure the overheating! I avoided motorways as much as humanly possible after a few frightening moments due to not being seen, and now it is almost never driven on the roads at all as my great age makes me acutely aware of my vulnerability in such a fragile vehicle. Track days are safer!1 point

And of course, given the current situation, even if you had a Euro spec Sport Turbo, if you don't have the paperwork already, there is no vehicle manufacturer at the moment to supply any. The only other thing I can think to suggest, is to reach-out to Westfield old German importer, he may just be able to offer more advice based on his knowledge and experience. - Christoph A W Bettag, http://www.Westfield.DE/1 point

They don’t exist unless you happen to have one of the type approved ZEI’s sold in the late 90’s or a sport turbo.1 point

Terry, me and Mrs H. would prefer not to have to stay overnight, but if the dinner is at a venue which we can drive to within around an hour or so we would support the dinner again.1 point

Looks like a nice car to me, even if the bhp figures do prove to be optimistic. Could the selling dealer arrange to have the car dyno tested? Either way, it has to be worth going to have a look and a test drive. My lightly enhanced 3.9 has maximum power at 5100rpm, giving nearly 210bhp at the wheels (so about 245 at the engine). I never intentionally rev it beyond this.1 point

Always fancied doing the NC500, agree about weather and midges! Tend to agree about accommodation too, I’m not a big tent fan. Interested to follow this topic Andy1 point

9 cars are going to a show at Walton near Wakefield this Sunday, 17th, but it's also the breakfast meeting so we will be meeting at 9 in the morning at the Red Kite on Denby Dale Road. This is where we used to hold the meeting before lockdown. We are already booked in for the show, but if anyone else wants to meet for food, see you there.1 point

Early start for some this morning with people coming from as far as Scarborough, Sheffield, Doncaster and some nearer. We met at 9 for breakfast at our pre-lockdown venue, the Red Kite. After eating we set off on the 10 minute trip to Walton and took our place on the field. The flags went up, along with a gazebo I brought to help shade us from the sun. We had 9 Westfields and a Robin Hood who tagged along with us. We had 2 drop out during the week, but was able to fill their places. Plenty of cars to see, and when the sun came out, we managed to keep in the shade. Thanks to all who came, you know who you are.1 point
