  3. We have done a Highland Tour for the past 4 years and have done most off the NC500. Will no doubt be up there again next year. We tend to go end of May or early June to avoid the midges. We also don’t bother with much of the actual NC500 route as a lot of it isn’t that great and actually misses some of the more spectacular roads up there. We tend to travel up one side of Scotland stopping overnight on the way then spend a good 3-4 days with Ullapool as a base but have also stayed just north of Inverness. Then we follow the weather and go for 2-300 mile runs each day around the superb roads that are way up north. Then travel back down the other side. We always try and fit in a run through Glenshee either on the way there or on the way back. Highly recommended 👍

  5. Testing on Friday so heading off to the circuit in under 24 hours.... I'm getting pretty excited now. Not really nervous like I was before the first meeting. I put this down to a lack of sleep and misplaced confidence. Seriously though, having some experience of how the race meetings run and knowing where to be and when really sets the mind at ease and one less thing to worry about. Weather looks interesting - ideally it would be consistent across testing and race day, but looks like we will have a fair bit of rain on Friday, with some rain and 26 degrees on Saturday, so hot and humid with luck of the draw as to track conditions. Hopefully we'll call it right else we'll end up running a dry set up in the wet. To be fair, I'm pretty confident in the wet on track days so hopefully this translates to a slippery Oulton with 26 other lunatics. Once thing I didn't get last time was any actual race starts, which is frustrating. I had a few practice starts at the club track day off the line at Blyton and have the theory nailed at least. In practice, on the day, we'll see. With @Simon Waterfall Syman84 sprinting experience I fully expect him to demolish me off the line. Fingers crossed for some close, clean racing (and no rapid unscheduled engine disassembly this time)

  8. Not that there was much to start with, but this seals it I reckon. I’m unfortunately living up to my forum name currently so have had to remove the seat from my SEi to fit in comfortably. To date I’ve just been sitting on the floor, which is fine for half an hour or so, but even with a generous behind it does get a bit numbing after a while. Cue an old garden seat cushion from Mum’s shed 🤪. Surprisingly comfy, and I guess no one will see it until I get out! In other news, my Lonsdale trainers bought after a tip from here (thanks @BigSkyBrad 👍) seem ideal. I bought half a size under and they are pretty tight, but it makes life a lot easier down in that pedal box as I’m a size 11.

  9. Day 1 and We’re here 659 miles from home in the N/E of Scotland down to Folkestone on the start of our mini trip away . We started in the twilight chilly and fresh arrived in the twilight chilly and fresh and burnt in between 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Not the best day to pop down to the south coast with the extreme heat and certainly as such it took a few hours longer but the cars ran well with plenty of breaks for both cars and peoples. So we’re all sat with a cold one and the hollybobs start tomorrow with the Chunnel across to France then over to the cottage we’ve rented at Spa

  13. That's very unfortunate and quite frankly unacceptable......However, it's not the norm, and every time I've had tuition I have only come out of the other end being a better driver.....Tuition is probably the single best upgrade for lap times. So, assuming the people doing the tuition are competent, then it is worth it. Back to the OP.......Being a complete chicken when it comes to high speed stuff, I prefer the airfield type tracks with a smaller course and tighter corners, and very big run-offs. If you can make the journey down south (a little), somewhere like Abingdon (motorsport-events) run a really good track day (usually on Fridays).

  15. Does it have to be a evening do? I attended a lunchtime event earlier in the year and it was very enjoyable and different for a change! It does not stop anyone who wants to from staying overnight! Glutey

  16. We’re here 350km today in +40 deg meant plenty of stops …. Then … we arrived in the Ardennes , as beautiful as ever. Sammy and Trina had got food at one of the service areas and we arrived at the cottage, wow!!! Both cars ran well with some consideration to the heat and Sammy had a wee detour through part of Brussels, but safely here

  17. Bought a couple of years ago for use when driving my aero-screened Westie, as I found that bugs hurt at 60+mph... Never dropped or bumped and always cleaned after a drive. Visor is still perfect - no scratches. It has a very effective inbuilt sun visor which is also in perfect condition. The carbon weave is utterly gorgeous and the helmet is noticeably lighter than the Shoei I still have in the cupboard from my biking days. As well as being quite light (more of a consideration in a car as the lateral forces ae much higher than on a bike), it also looks amazing and helped satisfy my developing fetish for carbon as I improved the Westie. It's a Large size, which covers the range 58-60cm, 23-ish inches or 7 3/8 - 7 1/2 in old 'hat-size' measurement method. Its advertised at £290 elsewhere, but I'll knock a few quid off for a WSCC member Not keen on posting it, as a helmet should ideally be tried on before buying. However, I reckon it will be about £15-£20 extra to post

  18. Welcome Tony, we will be at Newark on Sunday and will love to see you in the Peak District soon too. We are at Walton in Chesterfield, so less than half hour away although we normally meet at McDonalds in Matlock at 10 am most Sunday's. @AndrewBClarke @Big Andy you asked me to let you know which day we are going to Newark, well the dentist has just changed Glen's appointment to Saturday, so it has to be Sunday.
