Sorry to miss everyone but the social events cancelled over the last two years are being crammed into this summer. It would have been great to meet up with newbies @Nick Mucklowmaybe next time and yes brilliant bunch of people. As far as cake goes, clearly it needs an answer. Has anybody noticed that when I say I’m coming, @Andy Westwoodbails? Obviously he cannot take the competition as he (despite his reputed childish good looks which I don’t understand) knows he would loose. As for @aeg……. Next weekend I’m hoping to get to Newark sometime although timing is questionable as we have guests staying so I will be either before they come on Saturday or after they go on Sunday. Hope to see you all soon. ABC6 points

I feel a bit of a fraud in posting this, given the superb trips of late around the Alps. However I intend to document my trip to the Wirral where I will be staying in just one property for the duration, and hopefully get to meet up with the Wirral section of the club and also if I can re-trace some old haunts around North Wales. I will be visting friends most of which have classic cars. This really is the first time in 25 years I have left my area without having to worry about pets. Just waiting for the temps to drop before departure, car is being slowly loaded and I can't wait to go. More to follow.2 points

Now sold. Almost a barn find. The complete kit was purchased from the Westfield factory between 1992 and 1994. Everything brand new, engine, gearbox, diff, chassis, body, seats, suspension etc. A complete car. Unfortunately the original owner passed away before the car was even a rolling chassis, a few aluminium panels and some suspension parts fitted. It then went from enthusiastic owners with good intentions, ending in storage with no further progress. Acquired by me in 2021, unfortunately mice had taken a liking to the leather sports seats so these were re-trimmed by an ex Bentley coach trimmer. The car is now fully built to a very high standard to the car you see today. The 1600cc CVH engine had never run. Twin 40 DCOE Webers and a tubular exhaust manifold. Type 9 gearbox and Sierra open diff, both brand new, not reconditioned. A Westfield remote is fitted to place the gear-lever in line with the steering wheel. A classic look, black bodywork, swept wings, chrome, red leather seats and leather dash, VDO instruments, full safety harnesses. 13" newly powder coated minilites with new Uniroyal tyres make the car look superb. The engine was started for the first time in early 2022, still with the original running-in oil. IVA time, and the car passed, despite many saying that a CVH on Webers wouldn't pass emissions. But it has. Oil changed at 400 miles to Castrol synthetic. Registered on a 22 plate as a brand new car, so no MOT needed for three years. The car is exceptional, classic bodywork, so much in favour now, superb looks, drives like a Westfield should drive. This car deserves an enthusiast, so no test pilots or tyre kickers thanks. Arrange your own insurance if you want to drive it. Car is located in Warrington, please message for more info or to arrange a viewing. £14,500 for a brand new car on a 22 plate. Wow. Graham. aka Grizzlee.2 points

Today has been one of those days that epitomises what Westfield's and this club is all about for me. Friends driving great roads in the hot sun, enjoying the refreshments and welcoming new people, it is so lovely to experience it, how lucky we are ❤️ Thank you to everyone that made today happen. We met at Mcd's and Rob took much better photo's of the cars than I did, how does he do that? anyhow, here we are 12 cars on the photo, one parked further away with Adrian and Chris in, they were from the plague village of Eyam and wanted to see what we were about, so we invited them along. Another car turned up that was just passing, they got invited along too and followed for a while until they turned into the petrol station so hopefully we will get to see them some other time. Adrian and Chris On their first outing with us was @Nick Mucklow and Michaela in their Zetec engined car. It was nice to be able to give out plenty of advice to new owners as there is so much to learn when you first get your car, not just oily stuff but roofy, usb-y stuff as well. We took a scenic route over Monsal Head and to a seemingly closed road in Bradwell. There was no warning that the road was shut, nothing, I stopped, jumped out of the car, TOOK MY HAT OFF + DID MY HAIR, and was very relieved to see some workmen shifting the bollards and opening the road back up, phew. Next we went up Winnat's Pass and was 1 Nissan Micra away from a clear run up it, before sailing down the Mam Nick road to land at The Rambler Inn, to the landlord, Steve's, utter delight. The Rambler Inn We sat in the shade to have our lunch. The landlord came and took the photo with me in it too, that was nice of him. Knowing that a road was closed near Chatsworth, I thought it would make the cafe quiet so we headed there in search of cake Chatsworth cafe car park A bit of healthy competition for our Cake Meister, that was one mahoosive slice of cake Mr Bagpuss The lemon cake was very lemony and the Italian Chocolate cake was, well, very chocolaty Martin went for strawberry cheesecake @AndrewBClarke what do you think to this lot? this was on the 'Andy's' table Evidence - verdict? guilty A fab time was had by all Super day out, thank you all.2 points

Doh, I hadn't realised they lock that section out for non-members. There was one other photo, but not as good as that one1 point

Stunning sunshine and stunning cars! @Stu Faulkner (with his son riding shotgun), @Tim Coles and I met up bright and early at the services. After a chat about Stu's recent biblical Alpine hailstone experiences, we headed off for Matlock. What a brilliant turnout we had, a total of 12 Westfields to start with, before we got chatting to a couple of local guys in an MK and then another couple in a Westfield pulled in who just happened to be passing and spotted the cars! All lovely people and hopefully we will have a couple of new members! Sadly I had to dodge home after breakfast, but managed a few snaps and a departure video (11 Westfields and the MK). Hope you all had fun, it seems I am missing out on Winnats Pass again 😢1 point

Marcos, Glen used to have one as a daily driver years ago, very uncomfortable apparently, he would have liked to have seen them today so thank you for posting the photo's.1 point

Welcome, you’ve mention ford, DOHC and c20 Xe the XE, red top is a Vauxhall engine, if it is a ford DOHC then it’s likely to be a Duratec or Zetec silver or black top. Though it could be something else. As others have said become a full member, most of the kit insurance companies provide a discount for club members which generally covers the cost. you could also go along to a club meet, next week there is the Warwick area meet (Thursday) details should be posted soon, then there is the Black Country meet on 7th Aug. Re garages it kind of depends on what specifics you’re looking for.1 point

Hello gents, funny to come across that thread. (I'll explain in more details in a dedicated topic). Just to answer here : Yes! He can drive home, that's what I did last month from Swindow to Dover then from Calais to Soissons (France) second part of the trip by night! Something you can't forget I promise! this is part of the game, isn't it? Pierre.1 point

Welcome Bill, it's not really advisable to publish your email address in an open forum, but if you are happy getting possible spam then ok. As far as pics go, as a trial member you are limited in what you can do and see on the forum. There are parts of it that currently you can't see. If you are able , I would suggest becoming a full member and then the whole forum is open to you, as well as posting as many pics as you want ( within reason).1 point

I don't recall ever posting a picture of my home made half hood, so here it is, the rear section gets added to create a full hood, but in this weather I wanted some draft as well as keeping the worst of the UV off me. Yes I'm parked on double yellows ( everybody does it ), the shop went mental when they were painted on as customers now have to park outside or in some cases block driveways of the residents, causing more issues - councils eh....1 point

What a beautiful morning to look at some cars and chat with friends! Unusual for me, I landed first with @Tim Coles and @Ian Podmore (great to meet you by the way Ian!) arriving in formation shortly after and then @jumbojack (with son Jack unusually up before noon! 😂) in the MEV. What a great line up! On top of the classic cars we always see at Curborough, it was the Marcos Club meet so we were surrounded by interesting examples of Mantula's, Mantara's etc. They were all doing a few laps of the track, very similar to our own Curborough days, just a bit more sedate and with more spectators. What really grabbed our attention was a beautiful Lotus Carlton who actually took to the track for a fairly spirited lap or two! Lovely to see a car like that being enjoyed as it should be 👏👏👏 Tim got chatting to the owner of a stunning Healey 100 and discovered it was actually a kit car. It's a really accurate recreation on Ford running gear that definitely had me fooled... parked next to one for us 70's children, a mint Capri 2.8 injection 😍 Tim dashed off to check the reg of the next car to make sure it wasn't his old car brought back to life as a ringer 😂 A fab little impromptu meet, and my first as an official AO! Hope you enjoyed it and all got home safely, see you next time 👍 A few more pics for all you fellow car lovers!1 point

Another 2 donations have been received and I believe they may have come from more members on here?? If so thanks again. A little update from Lily's Dad: "Lily had one of her regular scans a couple of weeks ago and received the results 2 days ago and the specialist seems happy so far. They did comment that there is a dark area around where the tumour was and they refer to this as a 'halo' which is caused by the radiotherapy and they also commented that as they hit her hard with it they would expect to see something still." She will continue you to have scans to monitor the tumour/brain every 3 months until she is 21 so still a long way to go before a normal life can be had but she is also grateful with what has got right now. He is overwhelmed with the support so far and even more so from people he doesn't know and probably will never meet. Yet again, thanks everyone!1 point

Thanks seems very insufficient for all @Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts AO has done for the club, his local area and the Speed Series over many years, but it’s all I’ve got at the moment - THANK YOU Good luck to @RobH72 and thank you as well for stepping into the breach to give back to the club. You’re inheriting a great area and will get plenty of support - thanks and well done 👍1 point
