  1. Fabulous weekend. A massive thank you to everyone involved. Lovely to see friends old and new. Great to see Adrian out again. A great battle in class 2B with Adrian and some quick Caterhams with several drivers beating the class record on both days: Adrian taking top spot on the Saturday with Alex just 0.38s behind in the Ginger General, and Alex taking the win on Sunday with a phenomenal 65.21 beating both the Longton and (Alan Mugglestone's) HSA class record. Pity Adrian had to withdraw before the end due to noise. Gutted for Simon Green whose weekend ended early due to a stray bolt from a bellmouth finding its way into the engine but 10/10 for his enthusiasm and never-say-die spirit though. I'm still buzzing!

  2. It was amazing to be back. Alex's times were phenomenal. He nearly had me on Saturday too when he thought id done enough. Great to see loads of familiar faces as well as new. Many thanks to the organising team and everyone who put in the their time to help. Bring on the next showdown....

  3. End of day 4 What an amazing day of driving.very early start, on the road by 6am. Italy and into Switzerland and the roads were quiet at that time in the morning so weโ€™ll worth getting up for. 270 miles of mostly mountain passes. Including - Furka, Grimsel, Sustan, Nufenen, St. Bernard and about a dozen other passes too. The Furka being my favourite of the day. The weathers still hot ๐Ÿฅต but fantastic and not complaining! We have pitched up at a lovely little campsite in Anderman. Great facilities for cars and camping. hopefully the car with the charging issues will catch up with us tomorrow when the garages open (typical Sunday today). Just the five of us today.

  4. End of Day 3 great day today. 260 odd miles and some fantastic first passes down through Anneccy to Mont Blonc where we are tonight camping. few little issues today with one of the cars which is currently being resolved. the beer and pizza sat in front of the mountain made up for it! โ˜€๏ธ early start tomorrow (all being well with the alternator/battery issue) **update** now down to 5 cars for tomorrow while the others try to get an alternator issue repaired on a Sunday somewhere but fingers crossed they will catch us up by Monday latest ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

  6. Many of you will know by now that Rob Hunter will be taking over as Derby and Notts AO. I will assist for a while until we have sorted whys and wherefors of the new era. Rob came to the meeting on Thursday and it was probably the best one we have had for a long time, loads of Westfields on the car park and lots of new members, lots of Westfield chat and banter. I would like to thank all of you that have help and assisted me over the last 20+ years. I am sure the area will go from strength to strength. best regards Garry Bunn

  8. Another year, another excellent weekend of motorsport. Some brilliant battles across the field, and some great results for the championship! 1 Practice and 7 Timed runs on both days, with minimal delays. And looking back on some footage, I'm sure I can go a bit quicker next time ๐Ÿ˜‰

  21. Cooling system re-plumbed again! This time with a Dunnell Water Rail. I had re-plumbed it with silicone hoses a few months ago using the OEM thermostat housing but a pothole managed to break that... Installation looks neat and seems to work. Waiting for MOT appointment later this week before I can do a proper road test. Had to do a few bracketry mods to support the coil pack and fuel filter. Probably needs a bracket made up to support the bypass pipe. I've a few videos of the fitting stages that I'll try to put together over the next week or so.

  22. Thanks seems very insufficient for all @Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts AO has done for the club, his local area and the Speed Series over many years, but itโ€™s all Iโ€™ve got at the moment - THANK YOU Good luck to @RobH72 and thank you as well for stepping into the breach to give back to the club. Youโ€™re inheriting a great area and will get plenty of support - thanks and well done ๐Ÿ‘

  24. What a beautiful day for a run in the Peak District! With @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative away we had to make our own entertainment.... I'd just like to say, its so much easier when someone else is planning the day! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I picked up new member Steve @SBozzy on the way (a very brave man being my passenger for the day!) before meeting Ash, Tony and Alex at the services. We were also pleased to see Ian arrive (a friend and potential new member who owns a bike engined MK Indy). We set off, up to Wirksworth before cutting cross country on remarkably quiet back roads to Monyash to meet @Lee Bennett and his mate who owns a glorious 200bhp Mk1 Cortina! After a spot of breakfast in the sunshine with liberal helpings of banter, we headed off following Lee hoping to find more quiet roads. After slight miss step when we got split up, we met again on the Via Gellia before a completely clear run down the B5056 (one of my favourite roads!) to the Bentley Brook Inn. Ian, Ash and Tony had a curfew so had to head home, while the rest of us landed in the beer garden for a well deserved cold drink ๐Ÿ˜Ž A fun day out of B Road blasts, meeting new members, encouraging new membership, loads of chatting cars, a bit of banter and plenty of sunburn! ๐Ÿ˜Ž Thanks for coming, and see you all next time ๐Ÿ‘

  25. Plan for day 3 Early 6 am start. 260 miles and into Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น . Hopefully we will hit the first few mountain passes and get a taster of whatโ€™s to come for the rest of the week. We are camping tomorrow on a campsite at the base of Mont Blonc.

  26. Day 2 done. Perfect start to the day with breaky in a picturesque spot. The locals love the cars everywhere we go. Itโ€™s been hot, currently 33 degrees. 330 odd miles of fast D roads today. Great fun ๐Ÿ˜Ž just arrived at the F1 hotel in Dole not far from the Swiss border for the night. Shower and off for food somewhere! few snaps of today

  28. End of day 1. Correction there are seven of us now. (Seven sevens..) What a great start. No delays at the tunnel. Weathers been hot! Few silly teething issues with a couple of the cars but noting that couldnโ€™t be sorted quickly without causing any delays. (Leaky hose etc) 80 odd miles done this afternoon. Currently staying at the Ibis in a nice little town called Douai. Good parking available. Nice French beer. En suite room for a shower etc. We found a nice little restaurant for some grub. Looking forward to munching some miles on day 2. (350 ish miles tomorrow)
