  1. Following Bagpuss’s great thread I thought I’d post up some of our travels too. Also shared on instagram @yellowsuperseven Iam joining the southern kit car club guys for my first euro trip in the newly built Westfield. We are Setting off for the euro tunnel at Folkestone tomorrow afternoon. There are 8 of us in 8 sevens. Literally counting down the hours now, cannot wait to get going

  6. circa 280km covered today. Mixture of dual carriageway, slower villages and empty country roads. Even found some ‘rude’ sun flowers. At our 3rd and final hotel in France. Ordered 4 large cold beers on arrival (what else is there🥱). They managed two pints before the barrel ran dry and the two members of staff couldn’t change it, so two of us got small Bottles of Europop. 1hr drive in the morning should have us at the first war museum.

  9. Got a knock at the door this morning, next door's car would not start, the Westy was in the drive anyway as I was going out, so jump started this Kia Sportage with the Westy - yay. Sorry no pics of the actual jump leads over the fence as (erm) I had to get creative in making them longer that quite honestly I would not show on here ( involved long steel rods that's all I will say 🤣)

  10. Hi everyone looking to buy my first westfield and I've recently put a deposite down on a fw duratec from toybox and will be heading up there soon to view the car once they have finished tinkering with it. Has anyone on here experienced buying a car from them and can share there experience with me. Also how many on here are from the South east. Im near Ashford and don't see many westfield about. Come to think of it I don't really see any kit cars in general

  12. Funny you should say that , look what I brought home... Had them on all afternoon, and very happy with them , although driving the car has reminded me of the spacer I fitted to the clutch pedal - since the deck shoes I have been using for over a decade had much thinner soles , combined with my scitatica which when it was at its worst prevented me using the car (until the spacer was fitted). The Lonsdales are a thicker sole and now causes my left knee to hit the wheel when driving, so bizarre such a small difference in sole thickness changes the driving position so much. I made a start on removing that spacer so hoping all will be back to normal. Thank you all for the input and great advise folks 👍👍

  15. @Richard (OldStager) I wear my Lonsdales every day to work and out and get at least two years out of them. When they get kicked in, they become my garage pair and I get a new 'out' pair. I've been doing that for the last 12-13 years with them. You can get either traditional leather ones or suede, but I prefer the former as they'll take a polish and last a bit longer. For under £30, there's little to fault with them.

  16. Like I say, an hour at Sports Direct will pay dividends. And to be fair their pricing isn't massively out of the way so it could be a very productive use of your time. I would not go to Demon Tweeks for this particular requirement...

  17. Actually, fair point about trying out the sizing. In my recent experience of a morning at Sports Direct trying on what they had in stock, Reeboks are pretty good. I have been a size 10 for decades and a 10 is what I would usually buy. But in these days of cheap manufacturing and, dare I say it, questionable quality control at the point of manufacture... Skechers, to me at least, I am between a 9.5 and a 10 depending on shoe type. I think I tried a set of Lonsdale Camdens on a while back and seem to recall I was a 10.5 in those and the same for a pair of Adidas I have for court sports. My Sparco race boots are a 10 and still fit, but they are not comfortable to walk in even though walking round a paddock isn't exactly long distance, I'd change out of them.

  20. Welcome David, To echo Rob's comments, yes you pay more than a private sale but you also get follow up service too. Andrew and Dale are a great team with over 1300 Westfield sales so know what is a good base car which they then do their Toybox thing to. I had a couple of niggles that showed up 3-6 months after I bought the car, all sorted by phone for the technical or me buying local and refunded immediately. Since then I have often called Andrew or Dale up to ask technical advice and or supplier info, super guys. Happy smiles per mile

  27. Hi guys. An update on the Omex ECU/loom kit. Omex have come back to me via email with information. Overnight they put the price of the ECU up 20% and the loom up 25%. So with the extra connections and sensors required it comes to a total of £1251 Inc vat plus postage. I'm not going to comment on that considering we had already paid Westfield for it. But on the good side Liam at Tornado Systems has been very helpful and is trying to negotiate a better deal on it as they are an Omex dealer and were surprised at the price hike. Again, I will keep you posted. M.
