I did the same as you and collected my body at a later date. In part in was due to me buying a cancelled order from the shop floor which was originally destined for a magazine build but the benefit was I wouldn’t have to store it for months on end. It was 14 years ago now I built my SDV, I’d hate to be in the position that you are now. I never bought the completion package from Westfield as I always planned to change a few things for my build. Instead I bought a few parts such as the seats and interior from Westfield but the rest was bought from other sources. It cost me a bit more to do it this way but it also enabled me to spread the cost rather than having a big up front bill.1 point

I noticed the roads were quiet as the chauffeur delivered me back from London. Anything that keeps the poor people off the roads is a great thing in my opinion.1 point

Hi Emma, I will have a look at this a little later (am about to eat dinner). There must be something incorrect on the group settings for secondary joint members.1 point

And then of course there's the innocence of babes...... The Sage & I were on our way to meet up with Buttercup and Co in Yorkshire with the ASBO on the trailer, the ASBO was sporting 'S8 POO' reg plates at the time, we stopped at a McD's to grab a coffee for the road when a little dude nearly tore his dads arm off trying to get a look at the car, so I made the little mans day and told his dad to put him in the driving seat and grab a photo, smiles all round as they walked away.... but wait.... the little man has a command of words and letters..... "look Dad it (the reg plate) says POO..... look POO Dad POO, Why does it say POO Mr.....?" Desperate for a meaningful answer I said "Well It's beacause it's Pooh Bear Yellow" His reply floored me and I still chuckle when I remember it, he said and I quote "not cos it's shi* then" I told his dad that I can understand why some animals eat their young.1 point

And there is one of the many issues with H2 as fuel or energy store. Life of said pressure vessel. Note the "do not refute after" date on the filler flap of a Toyota Mirai. The biggest stumbling block for H2 is producing the stuff. Takes a lot of electricity if you are doing it by electrolysis and it's overall very inefficient, or it's just plain dirty if you reform gas, as well as inefficient. Once we solve fusion power and have abundant free electricity, it'll be another matter. Meanwhile, we are stuck with the least-worst option of BEV. Battery life is now becoming a non-issue for most users, range too is increasing, still got a long way to go on the energy density of the things but the relative simplicity is hard to beat. An HFCEV still needs a reasonably sized battery or perhaps super capacitor to handle demand peaks and energy recovery on braking so it's effectively hybrid with the added complexity that brings, and the manufacturers like to gloss over the lifespan of the HFC as well. Basically, all the options are crap!1 point

I remember that evening very well. Didn't take helmet, wore safety glasses/shades. Forgot it goes dark! No windscreen, no glasses, hiding behind the aero screen at 70, my forehead was a bug's grave yard when I got home.1 point

Hi, Just finding my way round the forums for ideas and help with hopefully buying a Westfield this year? I chatted to a Wscc member at the Stoneleigh Kitcar Show on the Sunday (very helpful too) about the best ideas to purchase a car without problems (emissions/IVA/engine & parts/legal!!). The "Westfields for Sale" here he mentioned as a good idea but I had already found Toybox Specialists with good reviews? also not too far away either . Any views on Toybox if I don't find anything suitable here? I'm looking for a secure garage or space locally and making enquires (could of found someone already?) as I have my motorcycles, mountain bikes...and everything in ours!!! I love motorcycles but hoping I can get something to match on four wheels & take my partner along (although the bike frightened her big time..I was careful! lol). I'm sure I have the right idea after seeing the kitcars I saw at the show, it's been on my mind for at least three years with visits to the Kitcar Show for a number of years too! The idea of using a Westfield in France on good quiet roads with the sun out will be excellent I'm sure...using a Honda Fireblade twice was far more fun than travelling by bicycle, specially now my knees aren't so good years later! Last question..sorry?? I see there is a local meeting at the Falcon Pub in Hatton, Warwickshire...what happens at meet, is it good for new members and when you turn up in a Turbo Diesel with questions?? Grateful of any advice, thanks.1 point

Glad you are enjoying it. Had nineteen years of brilliant fun with it. Broke my back in January so had to sell it. Hope you have as much fun as I did. John.1 point

Yes Stephen you are get another Westfield! Seriously, you're only here once so go with your heart and don't overthink it. The way things are going with energy, world's resources, lithium, cost of living generally, you should do what makes you happy. I agree with the hydrogen theory, (not sure if you remember me from Prescott about 7 years ago) but I'm a gas engineer, hydrogen is already being trialled in several estates around the country blended with methane to lower emissions.1 point

If it is any help to others. I got the "standard" Westfield Zetec starter motor RAC 483 repaired by the following guys. Eurolec Components Ltd. C/o Powerlite Units Units 2-4 Northmoor Industrial Park Moor Street Brierley Hill West Midlands DY5 3SU sales@powerlite-units.com 01384 261984 They also sell brand new ones as they were the OEM supplier. I also got the OMEX ECU repaired by the manufacturer OMEX , again they were an OEM supplier and they can also supply the throttle bodies. This was in Feb 2022, I think they were bought out in May 2022, so proceed with caution. Hi all here’s mine, only just joined the club and completely new to the Westfield world. Wanted one for 25 years and finally got one. Only drove it once before heading on Holiday last week then straight into surgery so I’ll have to drool over your pictures until I’m able to drive once again. I want to make it my own and less classic looking so will require some parts and advise from you all.1 point

@Iplodius there's quite a few of us just north of you as @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairmansays. If there are no Peak District runs, we often meet up at Curborough and sometimes we tag onto other car meets (like the Coleshill Auto Breakfast Meet that you can find on Facebook). I often struggle to get to the evening meets (normally taking my lad to Cadets!) but more than happy for you to come along to one of our weekend meets (normally posted on the events page on the Forum) and give you a spin 👍 Yesterday at Curborough we had 4 Westfields (a xflow, a zetec on ITB's, a supercharged Zetec and my S2000) plus a Yamaha R1 engined MNR.1 point
