  2. So after owning the car for just a few weeks, my first big task was to do away with the previous DIY boot lid and fit a closing/opening boot lid. First stop was the for sale section. Managed to pic up a really nice CF boot lid from Daf which arrived yesterday. While waiting for the package to arrive I spent a evening carefully measuring the roll bar as installed on my car and creating a CAD model of it. The idea being that I would be able to create a template that I could over up to the lid that would accurately allow me to know where to cut holes. I used a 3mm tolerance on the template to give me a very small amount of fine adjustment. So tonight’s task was to mark up the lid. First under the car and undo the bottom stay bolts then the top which allowed me to remove the raking stays and the old boot lid. Then I offered up the boot lid, covered a few areas with masking take and started to set out its final position. Once happy I 3D printed a template and lay it on top of the lid. Template was designed to butt against the vertical of each side of the roll bar. Now the nail biting bit. With everything marked is was time to get the tools out and start cutting/grinding and sanding. A hour later and hey presto, it all seemed to fit. Still a mm or so fettling needed but the dry fit was a success! Next step is to measure the boot box sides and print some nice covers to hide the cuts for the stays in the boot.

  3. Thanks @Tricky, just seen the donation and thank you so much! I've just been chatting to Paul and Lily has another MRI tomorrow but these are routine to monitor her progress. Kind regards Glen

  4. @Alex Gaskin, @RobH72 and @Richard (OldStager) thank you so much for the generous donations, this means alot especially from people I've never met face to face! Lily does seem to be an absolute inspiration. Her Dad says she's getting stronger by the day and is spending longer at school each day before becoming to tired but fingers crossed she is heading in the right direction. Thank you again!

  6. SOLD One owner from new. 2750 miles. Built to high standard from Westfield kit – all new parts except recon engine. Willans harnesses, sidescreens and roof, plus spare bonnet. Original invoices available. Selling due to lack of use. Bodywork and chassis in excellent condition, but as it hasn’t run for a while it will require a bit of TLC to get back on the road, hence price of £4995. Contact Allan in Rochdale for further details.

  9. Hi! Future Westfield owner from Holland here, Seven type cars have always been my dream cars. A recent death in the family has shown me that life is not a rehearsal, so a Westfield it is! Choice is not big in NL (only about 9 for sale atm!). Still in the information sponge phase, so learning about the cars, versions etc.

  10. Meet at McDonalds, Bakewell Road, Matlock, DE4 3AU 10am and be ready to leave at 10.15am i.e you have time for a pee but not breakfast. We will then take the 25 minute journey to the Yondermann Cafe, Wardlow Mires, SK17 8RW for a breakfast. Other food is available so please check their website for the menu. The cakes are homemade, just sayin'. It is a biker's cafe and very popular. We will then take a 25 minute journey South to a quiet road in order to do some filming with a drone. Rob has very kindly helped set this event up and will be bringing his rebellious rabble with him, so will you be joining us? please let us know.

  13. As someone who used to fit them, and I still work for one of the big 6, pretty much every person I ever gave a demo of the monitor to was surprised at just how much certain appliances use. Its the difference between being aware of things being on, and knowing exactly how much they're costing you. Every tariff other than the standard single rate is already a time sensitive tariff. Anyone with storage heaters will be aware of the various economy7/10/15/ Redring systems out there, and they're all different.

  14. I will take that, I have had Trevturtle in my life for far too long, so it's turtles all day long, tortoises are so last year😁 yes, probably by tomorrow morning actually🙄 Ooo yes please, it will be great to see you again, I hope you are ready for lots of daft banter, although we do get round to talking Westfield's from time to time.

  16. @The artist formerly known as Rush Motorsport- Richard’s right. It’s not my daily driver and it doesn’t go out in heavy wet or dark! 1100 miles when I bought the car, roughly 2500 when I took the mag toggle out and I won’t have used it 30 times. D

  20. I am very intertwined with this dreadful thing, all but one of my family have been lost to it, the worst being my father at a far too young 29. So anyone who supports is doing a fantastic thing, and lets all get Glen well over his target please 🤞

  21. Sorry to hear this....its one thing that we will all be effected by it seems and not just when your older as we always assume! Hope your friend sticks 2 fingers up at it and makes a healthy recovery. Most things don't bother me but cancer......... Take it easy and thanks again for the donation. I'm at £170 now.

  22. As you've got the original it's easy peasy to make and you can make it in material to match or contrast your interior. Confession, I only made the handrake gaiter as the Cosworth rubber one is still looking good after 34 years, oh the shortcomings of modern materials!

  23. 3M's blade tape. If it can stay on a rotating blade, it's good for a car and is a bit thicker than some other clear films.

  24. I’m currently with Octopus, after being shunted there when Avro went bust, with Gen1 Smart Meters. I’d say the benefits outweigh any perceived drawbacks. My readings are taken every half hour automatically without me lifting a finger, and I can see when and what is drawing power unnecessarily. For example, I’ve turned down the temperature in the basement of the storage heaters, and I’ve taken the electric shower (£10 a year), the TVs (£10 a year each) and the Virgin box (£25 a year) off standby when not in use. The washing machine now runs at 5 AM on a delayed start, saving 25% on electricity costs. Even with the current extortionate pricing, I’ve reduced my electricity and gas to just about £3 a day in summer, and that includes the stupid daily standing charges of £0.76, on a four bed Victorian semi. Finding energy draws and making small changes to my routines saves me about £2 a day. Changing suppliers was easy too, although I did take readings just in case. So from my viewpoint, it’s certainly worthwhile.

  25. Yes, there is no difference in bodywork/size between the SEiGHT and SEiW, unless you have a FW?

  26. I replaced the wiper rubber with standard Halfords wiper refill blades and it made a big improvement. It’s also worth ensuring the blade is perpendicular to the screen by twisting the wiper arm slightly.

  36. Cheers for that, I looked at the rally design wishbones but heard a few horror stories so might just stick with the oem ones. In theory they have very low mileage on the bushes. Yeah seen Mofast carbon wings so ill prob go with them on carbon nv, again seen the boot tray also which looks nice . Literally just been reading up on the gorace QR system and that looks the best solution to be honest and especially with the discount link above. 😊 Be interested what people have chosen for steering wheels and have they stuck with the factory length column? i could do with a little closer to me than it is currently.

  40. My dear wife wasn't keen on me restoring yet another motorbike and even less keen on me riding one as I'm recovering from cardiac surgery. Bless her she suggested a "car" project instead. Browsing e-bay I found an unfinished 1988 SEi kit (incomplete) for sale and took the plunge. This one came with a hard top and gull wing doors. I've been retired for a couple of years now but spent the last 15 years of my working life as an engineer at Aston Martin in Gaydon so I know a bit about the industry, products and supply chains. Having said that, I'm definitely on a learning curve with the Westfield. Essentially, what's there needs dismantling, restoring and rebuilding but I will need a few components in the near future i.e. windscreen pillars and a roll cage. I will also need some key dimensional information and/or a 3D CAD model of the chassis and bodywork if anyone out there has such things (any format will do). I could also do with making contact with other members in my area (Southam). All input gratefully received.

  42. Well, despite requests and suggestions to rein it back in, we haven't. As a result, NO ONE is now collecting ANYTHING on Friday. And posts in THIS thread are the main reason. The insolvency people are on here, they are reading it, and now have justifiable concern for their own safety, the threat of "a few big lads" from various different justifiably upset clients arriving, attempting to gain access etc. We don't have any idea, at the moment, what parts of the orders that are sitting at the factory, have actually been paid for by WSC Ltd either, so even though you may have paid for that item, it may not be the factories to give you, and it's removal could be construed theft! But for the time being, no public (ie on the forum, whether in main or members only areas) discussion along the lines of going grabbing stuff etc, no matter how successful or otherwise you or your mate found it in the past, or speculation of what the Insolvency practioners are doing. If as a club, we have solid information from them, we will post it. If you have information that you're not sure if you should share, then PM either the mod team or myself and let us know. We will collate and respond. If the group who thought they had stuff there to collect want to set up a group PM to share the responses, again, that's fine, not a problem, if you're not sure how, let me know and I'll start it. This is something we need to do to protect the interests of our members. We will all, I'm sure, spend years dissecting the events of the current few weeks, when they're over. But for the moment, we need to be smart about it, and control our selves.

  43. This is incredible that companies that could easily be classed as competitors are so willing to assist in anyway possible as opposed to saying "tough, don't care". Just goes to show that we really are part of a small but unique group of enthusiasts keen to help others out! Shame the rest of the world wasn't the same🤔 I take my hat of to you @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairmanand the others involved in the background rallying around. Amazing work👍

  44. Afternoon all, Nick here from TigerRacing, due to unfortunate events it’s with great sadness that Westfield has gone into administration, even though it’s a competitor it’s always sad to see company’s in this industry go under especially a company as big as Westfield. That being said we also understand the great stress owners / builders of westfields will now be under. So here at Tiger we’d like to extend a helping hand to anyone with a Westfield who’s struggling for bits or parts, MOT’s or anything else. We know the fall out from this is going to affect many enthusiasts and we don’t like to see the community struggle. King regards, The Tiger Racing team
