  1. Thanks for another great day around the roads of the Peaks with great company. We both had lovely time and lovely meal and cake too. Not sure having a sign about calories next to the cakes is a good selling point. I only consumed 1400 calories of cakes. Delicious 😋

  2. Great run out this morning. Thanks for organising again Julie. Good to see everyone and enjoy some good roads and great weather (for the peaks anyway). I won't steal Julie's cakey thunder but here is a picture of the cars at in the salubrious overflow carpark at Chatsworth Garden Centre, where lunch and much cake were consumed.

  3. Nobody wore a suit today but hey, a girly lives in hope, sigh, one day. First to arrive was Glynn with his BEANO liveried car, Gnasher fits in nicely with his colour scheme and it is very kind of him to leave Dennis the Menace colours to @RobH72😁. We met at McD's for a quick brew We took a route round to bring us to Chatsworth Garden Centre which is actually only 6 miles away from the start, my original route headed further West and the weather report made me change my mind on that one. Some pics en route We arrived at Chatsworth just in time for one of their super beef dinners Parked in the overflow car park out of the way Thanks to Andy Westwood for climbing high to take this photo Overload on foody photo's for which I apologise in advance, but what a beef dinner but of course the Andy's @Andy Westwoodand @aeg stole the show when they saw this lot on offer the more we eat and drink, the merrier we get The Vines Restaurant - is in a lovely setting and comes very recommended, those cakes were exceptional, a cut above and worth every single calorie Becky mentioned that she needed some ice cream on the way home, really? well you need company then, so Andy W gave me the route (excellent) that he wanted to take and Becky told me where she wanted to be and off we went.....to the Stone Centre (good choice)......and more sweet treats were consumed OMG! Parked at the Stone Centre Can someone please help aeg fix his gear box, obviously the reverse gear is not engaging, that's twice today🙄 tut tut So, listen up, next Sunday we are meeting at McD's as usual, getting breakfast/brunch at The Yondermann before going a run through the Peak District to a road near Hartington to do some filming/photography. Rob has arranged for this to happen so don't miss out, it will be a good one. Lastly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow to Debbie, our soooper Westfield Wife to Big Andy. Love to you darling, you are a good 'un XXXXX❤️🍰

  5. Wow what a day !!!! Thank you all for another wonderful day in the Peak District with great friends. Many thanks to Julie for taking us out and about for great roads and views off the beaten track and away from the crowds but a special thanks to Andy Westwood for the great route to the Stone centre avoiding the mayhem of Matlock and all the traffic lights, I’ll put it in my route planning memory banks 🤣 take care and see you all soon Becky and Andy the open roads beckon through Chatsworth park we go follow the car in front they know where we’re going ? What a lovely grey coloured car, I’ve heard it’s the new ‘IN ‘ colour 😜 Notice how someone moved seats when the cake arrived !

  6. A few more photo's from me, I am not sure if we are a car cub or a cake club😮 @neptune Why choose when you can have 4 small pieces instead of 1 big piece Later at the Stone Centre Big Andy's favourite, Lemon Meringue followed by Victoria Sponge cake Glynn is partial to Lemon Meringue but he was inventive and had ice cream with it, watch out! aeg is eyeing it up!! Perhaps we need a trip to the Lemon Meringue cafe nr Ashbourne, we haven't been there for ages have we @Trevor Little (Trevturtle) ? Thankfully our Cake Meister @Andy Westwoodis on holiday next week and Cake Face @aeg is working, so @AndrewBClarke you have a clear run of it.

  7. Great run today Julie thanks 👍 Just in case you wondered how Andy Westwood got his aerial photo! And a grid start at the stone centre before realising the proper car park was empty!

  9. I wheeled the car out of the garage today to give myself better access to fit the clutch line so whilst it was out in the sun I took the chance to get a few photos.

  10. The discount offer from Go Race is now up, here: https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/148330-a-special-members-only-deal-for-quick-release-steering-columns-from-go-race/ This is the Club's turn to try and help out some of the smaller manufacturers caught holding stock of Westfield specific parts, and at the same time, bring a good discount to our own members, especially those hurting from the recent events. We will make case by case exceptions to try and help any of the smaller businesses in a similar position, waiving the normal Traders status requirements for them so they can run one off deals that also help our members. - we'd rather this saving were passed on the the Club members buying the stock up. If any other manufacturers/suppliers are in similar positions, with bespoke stock not paid for by, or dispatched to, WSC Ltd then and you want to see if we can help, please contact either myself or the Club Secretary. Thank you chairman@wscc.co.uk or secretary@wscc.co.uk.

  11. I was going to tip these to be honest, but seeing as they are so rare I just could not do it as all they really need is some new foam in certain places and recovering. Make me an offer but will be unable to post due to size/ weight.

  12. 22 June 2022 No solid news to report at this point. Basic information went out to interested parties with respect to the sale of the business last week, - we received one having previously discussed it with MB-I. While I can't disclose the contents of the (confidential) sales memorandum, I can say at that point there was nothing "for us". Appointments for those interested in purchasing the business were being arranged to view the assets at Kingswinford. However, in order to proceed to even that stage, would have required a signature from ourselves, (me), on an NDA (Confidentiality agreement), worded such, that I couldn't sign, and be in compliance with our own Club Constitution, (and not in a small trivial way, either). At this point though, there was no point making a mountain out of a mole hill, as the only reason for going from the Clubs point of view would be morbid curiosity. I replied to the info pack though stating as such, however I did also stress, that should the business fail to sell in this first round, and be liquidated, there would be assets such as the archives, that we may be interested in, so we do as a Club, still have irons in the fire. And for the moment, that's it, as far as we know. I'll keep updating this thread when I have any solid updates. It's not our intention to repeat hear-say from Social Media, we don't have to be first with information, just right. I've been in touch with the Chesil Support Group on Face Book, now the Westfield Support Group, it's a closed group, I can see we have a few members on there, though it is mainly the Chesil guys. On the whole, other than some Chesil specific suppliers, they don't seem to have much more info than us. 13. I'm contemplating replacing my Skoda Octavia estate which is on a 15 plate, and has done about 71000 miles. I fancy another Skoda, they are reliable and good value for money. The one I fancy is the latest version of the Karoq, with the 4x4 and auto transmission. I am thinking that I would want the 2.0 litre turbo diesel version. Is that a bit foolish? My reasoning is that if I go for electric, or plug-in hybrid, what is it going to cost in 10 years or so time to replace the batteries and dispose of the old batteries? In fact, I'm not convinced that electric will be the future in the medium term. To charge them you are still at the mercy of fuel cost rises. I actually think hydrogen power is a possibility in the not so distant future. Only time will tell, but in the meantime I'm looking at the possibility of buying a car which will more or less meet my requirements for as long as I am still allowed to drive, as I'm 75 years old now. Just wondering what the view of the "collective" might be?😀

  14. It is a problem at the moment trying to second guess what the hell is going to happen. I retire soon so after over 30 years of company cars fully funded for private use as well, now I have to buy something that I will run. My thoughts are similar to yours about the challengers that are coming and electric is good but at the moment long journeys, unless you have lots of time means waiting to charge if you can find an empty charger. On the M42 on Thursday every charge point was full for example and the messing with differrent charge providers makes them even less attractive. I would say realistically at your age, get what you want. The Skoda is a great car and will give years of use and have a decent resale as many still see electric as not suitable for longer journeys, or towing.

  15. If it is any help to others. I got the "standard" Westfield Zetec starter motor RAC 483 repaired by the following guys. Eurolec Components Ltd. C/o Powerlite Units Units 2-4 Northmoor Industrial Park Moor Street Brierley Hill West Midlands DY5 3SU sales@powerlite-units.com 01384 261984 They also sell brand new ones as they were the OEM supplier. I also got the OMEX ECU repaired by the manufacturer OMEX , again they were an OEM supplier and they can also supply the throttle bodies. This was in Feb 2022, I think they were bought out in May 2022, so proceed with caution. 18. Just a question William, on your wanted post you asked for weather gear for a 94 SE, are you sure you have a SE or a SEW, as all you see on here for a SEW will be too wide for your car ( assuming you do have an SE) . Just a polite question as don't want you buying the wrong parts.

  24. As Jack said depends on what your used to and what you are expecting from a westfield. I have a 2.0 duratec with TBs in mine and it puts a big grin on my face every time I drive it. It makes a fantastic noise. It's a quick car, but when it reaches 4000 rpm, there's a step change in power delivery and it's bonkers. However the most enjoyment on the road is a good twisty B road rather than a fast A road IMHO where the bhp isn't really important

  26. Thank you all for your kind offers and the build manuals. Dave, I'm pretty sure that the white Westfield in the picture is my pile of bits, it looks the same. Rob, I live about a mile away from the Long Itch Diner. I've partaken of a few bacon sarnys and mugs of their brew in there over the years. The first thing that I need to do before dismantling what's there is to do a "dry" build of all the grp panels and get them properly aligned before getting things painted/powder coated etc. There are no alignment markings or datum holes so I'm winging it and I'm missing windscreen pillars so can't set the windscreen. The rear end grp appears to sag slightly on one side (I know from a previous life at Lotus (educational!) that polyester grp can distort over time if left unsupported. So I may need to add some framework to put it in the right place, and so on.............Picture of the chassis plate below.

  31. Welcome from Essex. I have a rear roll bar in black going spare if you want it, same shape as your chrome version. PM me if you want it. The Westfield Racing Green looks fantastic, be a shame to change colour, some silver stripes/decals would transform it.

  34. OK, so I've been doing some digging and research through old receipts, packaging etc and picking peoples brains where possible to try and pull together a snap shot of "what came from where" at the factory. Hopefully this was all still current at the end, but without speaking to each of them I can't confirm. Note the list is provided "as is". I haven't been in communication with any of these guys, their details come from Google. I would suggest, if you want to try and see if you could obtain anything directly from one, start a thread here on the forum first, and see if you can get a few of you together, before contacting them. Goodwill, given they may be placed in awkward situations by the factory closing, may evaporate quickly if a couple of dozen people ring for the same thing! 35. 4 of us did a car show yesterday, Sunday 12th, and the Westfields proved very popular. We always had a crowd around the cars. Dads wanting one, mums saying "you'll never get me in one of those" and kids wanting to sit in them.
