22 June 2022 No solid news to report at this point. Basic information went out to interested parties with respect to the sale of the business last week, - we received one having previously discussed it with MB-I. While I can't disclose the contents of the (confidential) sales memorandum, I can say at that point there was nothing "for us". Appointments for those interested in purchasing the business were being arranged to view the assets at Kingswinford. However, in order to proceed to even that stage, would have required a signature from ourselves, (me), on an NDA (Confidentiality agreement), worded such, that I couldn't sign, and be in compliance with our own Club Constitution, (and not in a small trivial way, either). At this point though, there was no point making a mountain out of a mole hill, as the only reason for going from the Clubs point of view would be morbid curiosity. I replied to the info pack though stating as such, however I did also stress, that should the business fail to sell in this first round, and be liquidated, there would be assets such as the archives, that we may be interested in, so we do as a Club, still have irons in the fire. And for the moment, that's it, as far as we know. I'll keep updating this thread when I have any solid updates. It's not our intention to repeat hear-say from Social Media, we don't have to be first with information, just right. I've been in touch with the Chesil Support Group on Face Book, now the Westfield Support Group, it's a closed group, I can see we have a few members on there, though it is mainly the Chesil guys. On the whole, other than some Chesil specific suppliers, they don't seem to have much more info than us. Hi. I was wondering if anyone does any scale modelling here? It’s a hobby I had as a child and left behind around the age of 18. During lockdown I took it up again after watching some YouTube content. currently I’m only doing 1:35 armour. Having fun though trying some of the more advanced techniques that you can learn online. here’s some of my best efforts which have had a base I created. The others are just loose currently. A T35 in snow/winter and a kv2 in the wet.5 points

That programme illustrates a national scarring from all the lives lost in two world wars. Life is now valued, sometimes I think rather over sentimentally, to a degree far beyond how is was then. No bouquets by the roadside, no piles of teddy bears outside murder victims' homes, simply a shrug and getting on with life. It is a world away from the incessant safety cars and red flags of modern racing. Cars blazing by the trackside as another driver struggles in vain to extricate the driver of the crashed car, and all the while the race continues. Imagine the furore if that attitude existed today! Racing drivers knew that their lives were likely to be cut short at any moment but still they drove. Not from fear of unemployment, but the sheer love of the sport. Don't think I don't value human life by my 'over sentimentally' comment, I do. It's the emotional incontinence which forces people to overtly mourn others whom they never knew nor met. The Princess Diana effect if you like.2 points

Re the Sport Turbo seats, Cobra have already now made these available from at least one of their existing dealers, see here: https://www.cobraseatsshop.co.uk/cobra-roadster-7-sport-bucket-seat-4937-p.asp You need to select Sport Turbo from the drop down options list, then you can pick colours, materials etc. They just won't have Westfield embroidered on them, though who knows that may be an option in time! Do check though whether the seat runners they offer are the Westfield compatible ones, I've not checked personally.1 point

When I was young I was limited to Humbrol enamel paints and a brush. I have treat myself to a basic compressor airbrush and am using Tamiya acrylics mostly with some oils for the washes as you say. Mostly I just enjoy making stuff and it was relaxing during lockdown, and somewhat cheaper than lego (at least that's what I told the wife).1 point

Welcome and good luck with your search. You may need to travel to find the right car for you. Though being in Wigan, you're better placed than some members in Cornwall or Scotland who expect to find a car on their doorstep etc. Don't rush. Do you research and as suggested above get along to some meets and I'm sure most members will let you sit in or take your for a spin etc.1 point

Beautiful! Designed by the makers with little interference from the 'authorities'. He was driving in a Formula 2 race when I saw him at Crystal Palace on May 18th 1964 along with Mike Spence and several other famous names. Report here from Motorsport magazine. The following year Clark was at Brands in March for the Daily Mail Race of the Champions read the list of names competing for nostalgia's sake and he also (as was the practice in that time, drove his Lotus Cortina in a saloon car race. He literally drove the wheels of it - well one wheel anyway - as he passed us as we stood right by the track in the GP part out in the woods. Can't name the part now as the names have changed a bit, and it was quite a few years ago. When I say he passed us, he was on foot as his poor car was on one knee on the grass back up the road. Those were the great days when you could see your idol pretty well anywhere, driving more or less anything. Then came April 19681 point

Hi all here’s mine, only just joined the club and completely new to the Westfield world. Wanted one for 25 years and finally got one. Only drove it once before heading on Holiday last week then straight into surgery so I’ll have to drool over your pictures until I’m able to drive once again. I want to make it my own and less classic looking so will require some parts and advise from you all.1 point

Reduced further to £5,995 but very open to sensible offers First registered August 1994. 1 owner/builder (me!). 1600 Kent crossflow (711m block). Independent suspension and disc brakes all around. Car has been cared for but is +20 years old and hence has several scuffs, scratches and commensurate rusty bits. However runs well with twin 45 webers and is great fun in the sun of course. Car has just over 7,000 miles on the clock. Car has tonneau fitted, original side screens, wind deflectors and a hood although the hood has been used about 3 times in 20 years. Next MOT due in July. The car is really only suitable for someone who is mechanically minded - like people in this forum/club : ) and enjoys tinkering with cars. Ignition is Powerspark electronic ignition and the module in the distributor was renewed last week (June 2022). Tyres have plenty of tread but the wheels could do with some refurb where the lacquer has lifted. Front near side tyre valve probably needs replacing. The wheels have not been kerbed. Headlights renewed last year. Great car to drive but does need to be looked after. Selling due to lack of space. Wife and kids in tears but needs must! Any questions welcome. Thanks for looking. Due to file size limitations and the limitation on my IT abilities more pics are available on another car enthusiast site (apologiess to WSCC)1 point

I'm quite impressed the R53 Cooper S was insurable! Suspect the JCW might be a stretch too far, which is a shame as I've got one of those surplus to requirements already! Thanks for the responses everyone - I hadn't considered the Swift and probably should have. Looks like they did a 1.2 version that's a relatively low insurance group and cheap to tax. Focus would be a good shout too if insurance is favourable. I'll add those to the list. Now, I feel I'm about to spend a ridiculous amount of time researching small Suzukis... the Alto I knew about but the other two are new to me1 point

Another vote for the Suzuki Swift, both my wife and I have them. It's the second best selling car in NZ for a reason. Nippy and cheap, cheap parts, and they look good boy-racered. The drivetrains keep on running, my £900 work-hack has had a grumbly gearbox input shaft bearing for over a year now, but it keeps on taking me to work and back - I don't hear it with the radio on. I've owned well over a dozen Suzuki cars over the years, never been disappointed with any of them. Here's a few of the rarer Suzuki's I've owned... Suzuki Fronte Coupe, 360cc 2-stroke, triple carbed Suzuki Alto Works RS-R, 550cc turbo intercooled, full-time 4wd - 9500rpm redline, gauge goes to 12,000! Suzuki Mighty-Boy mini-truck, 550cc repowered with a 800cc Alto drivetrain1 point

OK, we seem to have reached a point, where there isn't much real news, plenty of speculation and a lot of raised emotions. To be absolutely clear; various posts, innocently made, some just trying to be helpful and giving examples of things that happened elsewhere, were seen by and reacted to by the company handling Westfield Sports Cars current situation. As a result, Fridays collection day that had been arranged for a few people has been cancelled. Those posts have now been hidden, I know, I know, stable door and all that, and this thread locked. If and when we get more solid information regarding the Administration process we will keep you up to date in fresh threads. I suspect it may be a little while. Bearing in mind the "damage" we have accidentally and unwittingly inflicted on those fellow club members affected by this change of heart on Friday's collection, we would ask once again, until things are clearer and public statements have been made by the companies involved, for the sake of those customers of the factory, both Club members and none members, can we please refrain from starting up more threads to speculate, and in instances, without meaning to, inflame the situation.1 point

This is incredible that companies that could easily be classed as competitors are so willing to assist in anyway possible as opposed to saying "tough, don't care". Just goes to show that we really are part of a small but unique group of enthusiasts keen to help others out! Shame the rest of the world wasn't the same🤔 I take my hat of to you @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairmanand the others involved in the background rallying around. Amazing work👍1 point
