  9. I have adjusted the standard Westfield baseball cap to have an under the chin cord with a tightening toggle. When driving doorless and it works loose, I simply open my mouth and the cord pulls the cap back on!! Patient applied for 😀😀. Next thing I’ll need is a fly mesh for the times my mouth is open.

  11. Mrs BobMet and I had a great time on the London (Brooklands Museum) to Brighton Sports and Kit Car Run yesterday. Enjoyable 74 mile route of through the countryside following the tulip navigation guide provided, a lunch stop at Parham House and Gardens, culminating in arrival on Madeira Drive and the inevitable fish and chips. There were different routes for the Classic Cars, Modern Classics and Kit/Sports Cars, with a huge variety of motors making it down all of which added to the interest. 75 entrants on the Sports and Kit Run, of which 3 were Westfields, perhaps some more next year? Here's a few photos but if anyone is thinking about it for next year then I'll be happy to share some more about the experience. Thanks to @SteveB21for the departure photo.

  15. With 18 cars and well over 20 people coming on half term holiday week I had a last minute panic for where to go that would fit us all in, the landlord of the Bentley Brook had been very welcoming last time we went so I rang him up and he was straight there, 'Yes come along, we can feed you all, I will block the top car park off ready for you' so a quick change of route and all was well, phew. We arrived to see Glynn, not only could he not find that cake he had hidden under the bonnet earlier 😄 but also his hydraulic clutch was not working. He couldn't get the gears and thought that removing a washer would change where it bites and fix it. Dave E was quick to give advice with IanK and RobH quick to lend their mole grips. I was the clutch peddle pusher of course, any excuse to try out the driving position of another Westfield. A test drive around the car park, btw Glynn, it sounded good! We were many cars, 18 I think, in McD's car park We did filled a good section of the McD's restaurant too Next, we set off for a major pose through Matlock Bath, where we got plenty of views before setting off on the open country roads. Glynn waved as he went past shouting 'Clutch not good!!.' and headed for home. Another pose through Bakewell before going onto the really empty country roads, past all the motorbikers that now all seem to congregate in Monyash, before taking that last amazing Bentley Brook Road. We followed 3 TVR's for a while and saw lots of motorbikes, more than normal, but saw no other interesting vehicles en route. The weather stayed dry with a mixture of sun and cloud, better than Monaco hey. We arrived at the Bentley Brook Inn, 16 cars in total, what a great drive we had. The Bentley Brook Inn. The carvery was on as well as the full menu, the food is excellent here, it is well staffed with quick service too. Great fangs 🧛‍♀️ there John at the head of the table. But what a wonderful surprise, Glynn (at the head of the table) had popped home, jumped in the tin top and came back to meet us for lunch, how lovely. Luke had only got one wing on his car so couldn't make it out but did say to come and see him on our way home. Where was he? at Adam's Happy Hen's of course, so off we went. One of @HB46443 Hedley's friends was there too😃 Adam's Happy Hen's Luke, Gemma and Libby helped us to empty the shop of traybakes and ice cream. Yep, another super fantastically fun day out, thanks folks and a big thank you to Rob for bringing so many and looking after them. Next weekend is the Jubillee so I will be really careful to avoid it, for instance, the Bentley Brook Inn has live music and a BBQ on next Sunday, that will mean - busy. Join us if you can ❤️

  18. Very good bit of vid there @Big Andy, that road really is twisty, chevrons every minute. Not so sure about going upside down with the camera 😁 oooh. You have mastered the edit button so it is good to see you are no longer selling the camera, just goes to show it's not just cars we help each other fix👍 Speaking of which I hope @Glynn Walters get's sorted with that clutch. @Si.Dalziel hope the S2000 fund completed the litter, very cute

  19. Further to the update directly to Tom above We are now reducing the financial risk to the club by making this event a low numbers day. Blyton have several levels of day and we originally, due to past successes had a full day booked with a maximum of 50 cars we will now have a maximum of 24 cars for the Track Day, this is great for the people attending as loads of track time. This means that we now have only 7 places left for the day due to the low take up. please if you are thinking of attending get booked up. Thanks

  23. I think we do (weather) temperature measurement the best, if it’s chilly, we use Centigrade, but then as soon as it gets a bit warmer, we swap to Fahrenheit! So it can be 70 degrees in the day, and -2 degrees over night!

  24. Sorry to have missed a really big run but as Julie said above, I had some issues refitting my cycle wings after fitting my new wheels which meant the car wasn't usable today. I gained some brownie points by taking Libby out for the morning, then we had a family walk to Happy Hens, where we met up with the tail end of the Peak District group run out. Great to see everyone even if the silage collection was a bit noisy. Once we got home I set to finishing off the refitting of the cycle wings to fit the new wider wheels- have to say it was worth the wait in my eyes 😃 Wouldn't be right not to have some local cow muck across the wheel arches. Looks aside these wheels are 4.9kg each, a saving of 5.2kg per wheel over the previous set!

  25. Brilliant day out, big thanks to @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative for organising it 👍 Us "southern softies" met up near Derby to convoy up to Matlock, I was expecting 4 or 5 cars and ended up with 10! Amazing turnout! Gary peeled off in Matlock to head home and Glynn had a bit of clutch trouble (hope its an easy fix mate!), but we still had 16 cars flying in formation when we landed for lunch near Ashbourne 👌

  26. Hi all, I’ve just joined the owners club having bought my first Westfield. I’ve craved one for 20 years and it was only a matter of time. I viewed a few and had a great trip to Toybox where the guys were really helpful, but I eventually found a car elsewhere and within budget and I’m over the moon with it. I plan to take it, weather permitting, to Baston Car and Bike Show at Grimsthorpe Castle on Sunday 10th July. If anyone else is going it would be great to say hello. https://www.bastoncarshow.com I’m based in Stamford, not too sure if there are many other members in my area. cheers, Dave

  27. We have a slight change of date for June's meet, we've shifted to the first Tuesday, for this month. The plan is to start at the Golden Pheasant, 7.30pm, as normal, but by 7.45, we will head out for a run to the Swettenham Arms, which has a Classic Car get together on Tuesdays, through the summer. So remember, 7.30pm Tuesday the 7th June, at the Golden Pheasant.

  32. Hi, I'm selling my Westfield after 7 years of ownership. I bought this car 2/3's completed and finished it off. Slightly reluctant sale but I got the car with no kids and now have 3, and the car isn't getting used enough just sat in my garage.... Porsche GT orange with custom made racing seats, rear tonneau and I have some doors for it. 2l ford zetec engine, 9K miles, MOT'd. It really is a beautiful colour, I loved it so much I matched my front door (see picture!). Please note - this car was stolen from my garage 4 years ago and they crashed the car just down the road! The right front end of the chassis had a crumple in it so the insurer wrote it off. I had the car repaired by Mick at Wacky Racers, Brierley Hill, Dudley. They rebuilt the front chassis frame, reseated the engine, drive train, etc. I also had wide track front suspension and a front anti-roll bar fitted. The drivers side floor has been lowered by an inch to accommodate a taller driver. Since then the car has been maintained by him and serviced. If you're interested I'm sure he would remember and take a call. £7,995 I'm open to offers. If you've got any questions, better to call or WhatsApp me (I don't check the forum that often these days) 07790885370 (evenings best). I have all the original paperwork, etc. Thanks Karl (based in Barnt Green, just south of Birmingham)

  33. I used to do quite a lot of Voice work and this change has been coming for quite a while. A LOT of work has already gone in to this on the service provider side of things, including Openreach and BT. Voice, even with the highest quality codec (G711u) needs about 1Mb/s of speed and round trip latency of less than 300milliseconds. There are other codecs (G711a, G722, G729) that can be used to reduce that speed demand a bit so maybe (MAYBE) if there are areas where internet speeds are lower due to location then the voice part of the bandwidth demand can be reduced. And of course it only matters when the phone is in use... Daisy chaining a PC off the back of a phone is quite common in business settings but yes if the phone is only 100Mb then that can be a bit of a compromise, especially if one is transferring large files internally. Externally it usually has less of an impact unless the business internet connection is more than 100Mb/s. The only time I have had issues with call quality was when there was a problem with the analogue line that connects to the IP PBX and until BT stop utilising the old twisted pair phone lines to carry calls and/or IP this is still a possibility. The BT page (https://www.bt.com/broadband/digital-voice) says they will be offering "converters" so that we can keep our existing analogue phones. I guess for homes like mine where I have added a bunch of extensions using the pre-wired extension kits, I'm going to need a few converters... As for the rest, I'm assuming the analogue copper line from the dwelling to the street box will be in use for a good while yet because getting CAT cable or fibre to every home is a HUGE undertaking. It's just that the "old" phone line will no longer carry an analogue signal, just IP. The ads for BT and EE saying "full fibre" means fibre all the way to the house/flat. We call this FTTP or Fibre To The Premises. At the moment I think the UK has about 15% of "public" coverage. But public infrastructure (Openreach/BT) aren't the only player here. Look to Hyperoptic, Virgin, Community Fibre, Gigaclear and others out there who are laying their own fibre infrastructure to compete with BT. They all do phones that connect to their routers so they can provide voice services as well as internet. That said, any dwelling in a rural area is going to be behind the curve a bit for all the same reasons it took so long to get even average internet speed to these areas.

  36. Absolutely gutted I missed today. It looked like a fantastic run. A lack of sleep and midwife duties today meant I just couldn’t come to play. That being said the S2000 demo rebuild fund is growing quite well. Names so far are head refurb, timing chain kit, super charger and turbo. At least 2 more to come too lol.
