  1. Photos! i can't understand why they are posting upside down! Perhaps someone could enlighten me. In terms of spec, standard green with maroon. Le Mans tail, because I quite like the look. I have ordered an upgraded engine from MCCS with about 100bhp at the wheels, 5-speed gearbox. I am planning everything new or reconditioned, but I scrapped a very rusty 1967 Midget to get a V5 and donor parts. I ticked the polished option and the bodywork looks great, plus a wiring loom and anti roll bar.

  2. I actually started, last from the pit lane. I was suited, booted and strapped into the car ready to go while it was still on stands and the engine hadn’t run. Talk about close. Ended 23 out of 33 which I’m taking as a win! Biiiiiiig smile on my face! The bad news is, no go pro footage

  3. Thanks @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman There's a garage at my parents but only really enough space for storing the car due to motorbikes and other bits and bobs. I used to rent a wee log cabin in the woods so made a makeshift garage. Was handy too as all my tools etc were there.

  4. Hi All, Having (slightly guiltily) used this forum for technical help over the years I thought it was about time I signed up! I'm almost positive I signed up many years ago but can't for the life of me remember the sign in. I'm based in South West Scotland, I don't actually own a Westfield myself but my Dad has owned an early (1994 I think) Seiw for over 15 years. It has a Vauxhall C20XE with twin Weber 45s and a Type 9 box. It has the Mk2 Escort/Cortina front hubs, M16 calipers with Mintex 1155s and solid discs. And **Sierra/Westfield open diff with Sierra XR4x4 rear brakes. **edit** after looking at some posts here, it turns out the car has the early Westfield/English (Escort) open diff. It was off the road for around 6 years and I spent some time "recommissioning" it last year. It's turning out to be an ongoing project which I look forward to if I'm honest. Some bigger plans on the horizon. I have to say this forum has been fantastic for information and technical help. Really would have been stumped without it. Pictures of the old girl below mid-refresh. Before adjusting the ride hide correctly. I'll admit the styling is not to my taste. I do prefer the cycle wings and de-chromed look but she's great fun and makes all the right noises! There really is something about a set of twin webers on song... Cosmetically she's as she came from the previous owner. The only visual changes from before being the coilovers (these were yellow Gaz with chrome springs) and the tyres. I'm a bit of a petrolhead. I've been involved in rallying at a clubman and national level for years. Building cars and servicing on events etc. so when my Dad asked if I could get the Westfield back on the road I booked some annual leave and spent some time firstly getting her ready for an mot before tackling some bigger jobs. Again I can't praise this forum enough. It looks like everyone has encountered the same issues or at least asked similar questions. And without too much trawling the answer is never far away. Which gear oil/how much? What tyre pressures? Torque settings? Suspension setup etc. The only question I've struggled to find the answer to is how to upload pictures? After some digging I used Imgur. Interested to hear what other people use? I'll stop my essay there and look forward to having a browse later!

  7. I should be quicker on a mx5 as there’s lots more room under the bonnet than a Westfield.

  9. Welcome, it's a pretty looking car. (My first thought was that it looked like it was being fixed on a rally stage, but your post explains that!) As a paid up member, from a computer, be it Apple or PC/laptop, you can copy and paste, or simply drag and drop the normal photo format files straight into your posts. You don't have to manually upload them anywhere, first. From a tablet or phone, use the choose files button at the bottom of the window you're typing your post into, then follow the instructions from there.

Being a mechanical perfectionist I regret not taking BGH advice to fit a better quickshift gearlever extension. This would have been next winter’s job. Always garaged. I love this car and I have really enjoyed rebuilding it. I am now getting too old to properly use the potential and with only 1820 miles since 2018 (12 miles in last 2 years) and most of the jobs done it is time for me to move on. £ 8500

  14. The whole point of starting a build thread is usually not to show off your build skills - it’s so others who have been there before you can help guide and advise to make the build easier and better. No one in here is going to be anything but supportive and helpful. This is where your membership fee is going to prove the smartest money you’ve spent. 😊👍

  15. That's a lovely road, I've done the A701 a few times in the tintop coming home from Edinburgh, must be fantastic in a Westfield 👌

  16. The west coast is beautiful. I really like the wee peninsula above Mull with Ardnamurchan point. Not the best driving roads with a lot of blind crests/corners and single track (great if you knew the road was closed) but a nice spot. The roads are generally in good condition there too. I was in Dornoch a few weeks back and came home via Ullapool, Dornie and Fort William. They'd be good fun in a Westfield!

  18. We are lucky in this area. Bit of a tourist hotspot but there's loops of fantastic roads from the town. The road to Edinburgh with the Devils beeftub is good fun. Dalveen Pass and also the road to Selkirk too. Only an hour north of Carlisle. The view back down the beeftub to Moffat.

  20. **** Sold **** Hello all, I am reluctantly selling my 64 plate westfield megablade. (Honda fireblade 919 engine) ***UPDATE car passed its MOT at lunts heath tyre & exhaust centre 25.05.22*** I bought it 2-3 years ago with the intention to turn it into a more track focused car but sadly it has sat in my parents garage ever since buying it. since having my daughter 18 months ago my time has well and truly evaporated. We now need more space and are trying to extend our house and so any assets I have, have to go . I bought the car roughly three years ago for £9,750 I have no idea what the market value of these things is now so I'm waiting to see what offers I get. Car is booked in for an MOT on Tues (24th May) so will update the Ad when I have the certificate or any feedback to anything that comes up. Everything is in good working order, car starts and drives absolutely great. Since I've owned it other than putting maybe 1-2 hundred miles on it I was able to resolve the couple of niggles that needed doing. I externally mounted the oil pressure sender away from the engine block as the high reving nature of the engine rattles them to death quickly if they are mounted directly to the block as previously had been done. Also I relocated the reg/rectifier to a spot with better airflow and mounted it to a heat sink to aid cooling. Previous location was sub optimal to say the least. Also changed the clutch to heavy duty plates whilst I was doing these jobs as well as oil and filter. Only negative really from my ownership is somehow a small rip to the vinyl on the passenger seat has appeared. can be seen on the photos. The Car also comes with the weather gear unfitted (full hood and doors). However my intention was to make it a track focused car so I never even looked at fitting it myself. The new owner can decide what direction he/she wants to take the car as to whether to fit it or not. The Car also has the westfield reverse box fitted The Car has done almost no milleage 423 miles showing on the clock. I was unable to track down the actual builder of the car but the previous owner like me intended to strip it back and make it a track car and never did anything with it so the milage seems genuine. Unfortunately as I have been unable to track down the original builder I do not know the original milage of the fireblade engine but there are no signs of chronic use or anything like that, the engine runs well and sounds sweet. Any further questions I'll do my best to answer them as quickly as possible. thanks for reading, Alex 07921066051 Widnes (near Liverpool)

  21. Hi, Just to say the Falcon Inn Meet was excellent, seen more cars than I expected..probably due to the good weather! This was my first time going and I managed to sneek my Seat tdi further away from the action only to find owner's cars taking over most of one side of the car park!! Thanks for the help from Tony, Alan, Ian and not to forget Martin and others...hopefully okay in this order! I might forget a few names but the info and advice was so helpful, thanks all looking forward to the next meet..would of loved to come up to Curborough but maybe next time when I'm closer to finding the idea car? All the best everyone, Ian

  26. Hedley and the guys have been working immensely hard to get us to this point, we've still got lots to do, including deciding and sorting out how we integrate with the forum in a natural way, that makes watching the channel as easy as reading a build thread. In the mean time though, the actual YouTube end is up and running, and can already be accessed via the forum's menus. How to upload and contact us to follow on soon. Huge thanks to @HB46443 @Richard (OldStager) and @Quinten Uijldert - Webmaster for getting us this far. Now, we need your content, please!

  28. yes, i, like you stood on the sidelines just watching the forum for over a decade before joining not so long ago. to be honest any membership fees will more than be covered from selling / buying parts to insurance costs not to mention the help and general batter on the forum, it's one of very few online purchases that i don't regret.

  29. welcome @Bowsh, thats a lovely car and in the style i prefer but then i am rather oldschool with most things 😉, regarding photo uploads - as a trial member you will be severly limited in what can upload, i can't recall what the limit is now, but if you choose to be become a full member there are no limits - within reason - to photo uploads.
