Hedley and the guys have been working immensely hard to get us to this point, we've still got lots to do, including deciding and sorting out how we integrate with the forum in a natural way, that makes watching the channel as easy as reading a build thread. In the mean time though, the actual YouTube end is up and running, and can already be accessed via the forum's menus. How to upload and contact us to follow on soon. Huge thanks to @HB46443 @Richard (OldStager) and @Quinten Uijldert - Webmaster for getting us this far. Now, we need your content, please!9 points

Hi All, Having (slightly guiltily) used this forum for technical help over the years I thought it was about time I signed up! I'm almost positive I signed up many years ago but can't for the life of me remember the sign in. I'm based in South West Scotland, I don't actually own a Westfield myself but my Dad has owned an early (1994 I think) Seiw for over 15 years. It has a Vauxhall C20XE with twin Weber 45s and a Type 9 box. It has the Mk2 Escort/Cortina front hubs, M16 calipers with Mintex 1155s and solid discs. And **Sierra/Westfield open diff with Sierra XR4x4 rear brakes. **edit** after looking at some posts here, it turns out the car has the early Westfield/English (Escort) open diff. It was off the road for around 6 years and I spent some time "recommissioning" it last year. It's turning out to be an ongoing project which I look forward to if I'm honest. Some bigger plans on the horizon. I have to say this forum has been fantastic for information and technical help. Really would have been stumped without it. Pictures of the old girl below mid-refresh. Before adjusting the ride hide correctly. I'll admit the styling is not to my taste. I do prefer the cycle wings and de-chromed look but she's great fun and makes all the right noises! There really is something about a set of twin webers on song... Cosmetically she's as she came from the previous owner. The only visual changes from before being the coilovers (these were yellow Gaz with chrome springs) and the tyres. I'm a bit of a petrolhead. I've been involved in rallying at a clubman and national level for years. Building cars and servicing on events etc. so when my Dad asked if I could get the Westfield back on the road I booked some annual leave and spent some time firstly getting her ready for an mot before tackling some bigger jobs. Again I can't praise this forum enough. It looks like everyone has encountered the same issues or at least asked similar questions. And without too much trawling the answer is never far away. Which gear oil/how much? What tyre pressures? Torque settings? Suspension setup etc. The only question I've struggled to find the answer to is how to upload pictures? After some digging I used Imgur. Interested to hear what other people use? I'll stop my essay there and look forward to having a browse later!2 points

I also saw this last year. @Terry Everall - WSCC Competition Secretarywe should make it clear in the final regs for the sprint event that unless a car is taking part in the trackday then as with many other events you wait at the gate untill that part of the day is done, @Rhett Turner - Black Country AOit has happened to me at large venues on trackdays so I know it is difficult. I will be there and will try and police this.2 points

I'm not sure if it been re-visited but last year the track day (only) attendees were made to feel a bit second class having to park along the edge of the paddock entry road. I heard a fair bit of grumbling about this and I'm not sure if that's put people off. I think the standard parking lots should be available as they have been in years past. With perhaps one concession, being those doing the sprint weekend who are planning and committed to be on site early afternoon having their allocated pitches reserved for them as long it's not too many. Or perhaps sprinters could pay to reserve their spot on the Friday other wise it should be view if you've paid to play on the Friday then the paddock is yours to make use of if you've not paid for Friday then you can wait when you arrive on Friday for the event you've paid for on the Saturday.2 points

Right this event is now getting closer and as of today is open to the outside world of people attending that are not club members. Unfortunatly with the current numbers we have to now open up entry as we only have about 15 confirmed westfields this doesnt even cover half of the track rental for the day. The club want to support more club track days and I have been asked by the Chair to look into other events at eaither end of the year at other venues with this being the main club event. So all the regular trackday gang who no longer have westfields come and support your club with MX5's and other kit makes. If we dont get the numbers to make it even cost nuetral this may well be the last one, we want to do more as a club for each area of the club be that cake eater or trackday goer, but if you dont support events when they are arranged then how can we do more. rant over get booking2 points

The post-pandemic edition! May the 24th is the official National Drive Your Westfield to Work Day, which contrary to the title is actually a week where we encourage you to leave the normal daily driver at home and experience driving the Westfield to your place of work, raising smiles on both your face, and those who join you in the daily drudge. Of course, some of you may no longer frequently travel to a place of work (I'm not) so like last year, I would like everyone to get creative and get a picture of themselves with their Westfield! A selfie, a picture taken by a member of your family... as long as it is a fresh picture, everything is submittable! You have the week from the 23rd to the 29th to participate 👍 Have a look at previous years: 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017.1 point

yes, i, like you stood on the sidelines just watching the forum for over a decade before joining not so long ago. to be honest any membership fees will more than be covered from selling / buying parts to insurance costs not to mention the help and general batter on the forum, it's one of very few online purchases that i don't regret.1 point

As Simon said, I'm very, very keen to improve what we do with track days as a Club, BUT, if we don't draw the members to even existing days like Blyton, it's not going to go well when I put the plans to the rest of the committee!1 point

I bought my Westfield in January from someone a couple of hundred miles away from me. I drove up there to see it and test drive and then used Shipley to get it bought home. For appx £200 it's well worth every penny. When you're spending that kind of money, it's not a big additional cost and makes life easy and widens your choice of cars.1 point

Now confirmed for Sunday, it took a week for the request to be accepted1 point

Another great day at Brands. There looked to be a load of cars entered, and there was an "experience" outfit operating some fast cars.. Mclarren, Porsche and Beemers etc.. (fast cars with slow drivers ) .. so I thought the track would be a bit busy, .. but it was surprisingly OK. The experience cars were slow, but generally got out of he way fast, and the general track etiquette was excellent. The car ran OK, but right from the start we had bad vibes! The front right wheel was shaking like crazy.. mostly under light braking, and turning into right handers. I put it down to the recently fitted tyres being poorly balanced, so step one was to swap that wheel to the rear. This improved things but it didn't completely go away, and mid afternnon the inevitable happened.. a wing stay snapped. A couple of allen keys, a dozen tie wraps and some insulating tape got us back on track. I'll put up a pic, but it's not pretty.. it may offend! 😚 We made a point of trying to save some fuel for the last hour, as the track usually quietens down as people pack up. The plan worked perfectly.. on one of my last runs I got maybe two full laps without seeing another car. The weather all day was sunny and warm.. very warm, 26deg. There were a few red flags but not too many, as I said a really good day. Brands GP circuit is a cracker of a track, well worth the money. (I may have said that before too) The journey home was superb. We set off after five, got straight out and across the Darford crossing with no hold ups, and the traffic just thinned out as we progressed North. There was some torrential rain to contend with, but I was home before 10pm.1 point
