If any one cares, this year Rush Motorsport is taking the step from "averagely skilled, wannabe track day hero" to "distinctly below average, hopefully don't come last circuit racer". Lets be honest, its a mid life crisis. Its something I've always wanted to do and now I've got to 40 and finally have a child, I felt like I was running out of time. The stars have aligned, I'm in the fortunate position to be able to afford it and the wife is being surprisingly supportive, without which it would be impossible. So what does this year look like? A few arrive and drives in BRSCC MX5 Clubman Championship: Silverstone Grand Prix - 21st May Oulton Park - 23rd July I'm going to try to get a drive at Donington in September, before buying my own car and doing the full championship next year. Its 16 rounds over 8 days, each event it 15 min quali, then 2 x 15 min races. What is nice about the Clubman series is it all happens on one day - which is great if you are time constrained like me (Those heady days of sunny afternoons spent in the garage with @Simon Waterfall Syman84 tinkering with our oily bits are long gone). So yeah, that's that. I'm testing the car at Silverstone on 20th because i've not driven the GP track before, don't plan to test before Oulton or Donny - its gets really expensive really quickly. I'm being realistic with my expectations, the racing is close and the fast guys are A LOT faster than I am. Grids are 30+ cars, there are 35 already for Silverstone and people are still booking. A top 20 finish for me would feel like a world championship win, so my goal for the first one is, stay out of trouble and end both races in a higher position than I started. The point of the thread is that if anyone has any questions or is considering it, ask away and I'll be as honest and open as I can. The raw footage will be on my youtube channel, I might do a vlog if I can be bothered and you can watch the races live on BRSCC youtube channel.4 points

@BobMet you are not the first to ask that question and I have yet to come up with a fair way of judging the mileage of new builds, so for now I am very sorry to say that you have to wait until year 4 before you can enter the competition. I did feel for @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO when he asked me the same a few years ago and then just as it was time for his first MOT he became an AO and couldn't enter. Don't be scared in November (when the competition closes) to let us know your mileage, it will be interesting and you never know!3 points

Hmm, I reckon I'm up to about 28000 miles across two Westfields since the Honda was registered in 2015. Given the lockdowns in the middle, not too bad!2 points

and the Shimla over the road is a cracking place for a bite to eat 👍😁2 points

I have the park assist on my car, had it 3 years now and never brave enough to use it and let the car park itself 🤣2 points

Hi. Stu's correct, it 's a Davefab manifold. He sells them built up. but I bought the 'kit' one so I could place the turbo exactly where I wanted it. Too far back and it hits the chassis, to far forward and it can hit another chassis rail, but it also gets a bit tight to fit everything, too high and it's close to the bonnet, too low and the exhaust outlet gets difficult (I used the existing exhaust hole in the body) and it gets tight to work on! Make sure the flanges are bolted down to something heavy when they're welded to prevent warping. I also had mine resurfaced with a fly cutter!! Ian2 points

Julie’s Battle of the Odo’s competition is back for another year, and if you need an excuse to drive your Westfield, here is one - not that you should need an excuse, of course. The MOT certificate records an odometer reading. This competition is looking for the member who has the biggest mileage difference between their Westfield’s 2021 and 2022 MOT certificate odometer readings. In my opinion getting the ‘Westfield’ miles in makes you a winner anyway. The prize for first place is £50 worth of vouchers to spend at the Westfield Factory Parts Department and for this year only they will also receive the Chris Smith award. Second and third place will get you £10 and £5, respectively, off your membership renewal in WSCC for next year. What are you waiting for? Get driving! THE BORING BITS • The mileage must be in a Westfield. • The competition is open to WSCC members only, not the Committee or Area Organisers. • The closing date is midnight 8th November 2022. • Email your mileage to peak@wscc.co.uk with a copy of your MOT certificate attached. • The judge’s decision is final. • You must agree to your entry being published in Westfield World magazine and online in the WSCC forum. • Prizes must be redeemed within 12 months, are non-transferable and no substitute prize or cash equivalent will be offered. • If you have won first place in this competition before you cannot enter it again. • The winner this year will receive the Chris Smith Award.1 point

😥Due to lack of use and the addition of a Cockerpoo to the family, sadly my Westfeild is up for sale. It was built by me 2016 to 2017 and was registered on an age related plate in July 2017. Details are as follows; Westfield SEIW Mazda SDV based on a Mazda MX5 NB 1.8iS Torsen limited slip diff 5 speed gearbox Westfield orange with black detachable rear arches and front cycle wings MSA rollbar Willans 4 point harnesses Flat dash with ETB gauges Heated front screen Heater Heated seats Remote start button Remote fan switch Wunoff silencer with inernal cat Toyo T1R tyres Momo steering wheel Westfield side screens/doors Softbits half hood January 2021 I turbo charged adding the following; Subaru Impreza TD04 turbo Radtec alloy rad and intercooler ME221 ECU Bosch wideband lambda sensor with AEM AFR gauge RX8 injectors Approx 2200 miles and currently running at 1 bar boost which gives about 240 bhp There's a few spares with the car too including all the pre-turbo parts. £145001 point

Try a DAF LF55 lorry with a DPF. The exhaust has to reach a high temp for the DPF to burn off particulates, which it doesn’t do if it works exclusively in built-up areas like London. If you ignore the warning light on the dash that implores you to pull over for an hour and cycle the filter, it clogs solid and cannot be saved. New one? That will be £9k please. 😬 Easily. Very, very easily. (Not you Blatters - must try harder.)1 point

Might increase the mileage limit on my policy. 😊 Mot on 08.05.2022. 218 miles since the last mot in 2018. On second thoughts 3,000 might be enough. 🤔 Is there an award for the least miles?1 point

Glynn yes DaveFab manifold, I had them make the first one up for me, they measured everything then made a plastic printed template to see if it fits then made the manifold, they nicely then started selling them with no reference or payments to me as I payed for the development etc, when I found out that they were selling them I contacted them and they said as I didn't sign a licence tuff s#it, I wasn't asked or told about a licence. So i'm a little miffed with them. The manifold is okay I've had to reinforced mine as they are prone to cracking.1 point

Hi Marcus Apologies for response to old post - do you have any of those westfield badges knocking around still? Thanks Lee1 point

If the engine code is 1900cc. BXE, AVOID. Plenty of rods have broke on these and that goes for Seat, Skoda and Audi versions as well. Check the build sticker in under the boot carpet or in the first page in the service book.1 point

Thought I’d just add that I had a test drive in this earlier in the week. It’s a fantastic vehicle and someone will have a lot of fun in it. Engine was great, performance even better and it stopped on a dime when required. Lots of accessories included and Tom is very welcoming. The only reason I didn’t make an offer was that I’m now hoping to stack a Westfield on top of my Cobra in the garage … and after measuring I don’t have the ceiling height to accommodate the cage.1 point

Had to slope off early but really good turnout today, good to put some more faces to names. Great selection of westies, tiger, caterham, lotus and we even collected a stunning Morgan on the way round. Thanks to John for organising and the guys at the immaculate Milton garage for hosting us, hope you enjoyed the post lunch run.1 point

Can I just gently remind folks that the abitly to post "For Sale" threads is a privilege of being a paid up club member, only. While the club welcomes all new prospective members to sign up to the Boardroom for a one month trial, so that you experience some of the clubs on-line life, certain parts of the Boardroom and the right to do certain things are restricted to full club members, or those taking out a month by month subscription. The club respectfully, would ask those signing up to the free trial membership, not to try and bypass those restrictions by posting sales adverts in other sections of the Boardroom. We will delete any we find. If you have an item to sell, but don't wish to become a full member, you may take out a paid extended trial membership instead, this will allow you to post as many adverts as you like in the extended trial membership period, so is excellent value compared to simply buying advertising space on other sites!1 point
