  1. Normally there is no booze left on the second day though as Cap’n drinks it all on day one 😂

  4. Good points, love my tonneau - I drive with a half door and tonneau (I never have a passenger) and find it so much more pleasant. When I tow the car with the tonneau on, really no rain comes in at all

  5. As @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary correctly states, compression limiters should be used to maintain clamp loading provided by bolts. All plastic in varying degrees will ‘creep’ with temperature, humidity and vibration. Creep essentially reduces clamp loading initially offered by the mechanical fixing. Ie the bolt comes loose in time. So having no compression limiters for a safety critical item is not advised! Andy

  7. Unfortunately due to illness, I’m having to part with my pride and joy. It’s a 2006 registered wide body which has done 10,000 easy miles. All build docs available including receipts and set up papers. Always garaged (as you will be able to see from the attached photos) and raised off the floor when stored in a heated garage. only had dry miles, however Softbits for Sevens half hood with easy entry zips both sides and heavy duty lockable hood roll included worth over £500.00 ( you’ll know the benefit if you’ve ever tried to get into a Westie with full weather gear hood) LED headlamps featuring indicators. Cigarette lighter under dash. 1.8 Zetec engine really smooth with no noise. Started first turn of the key after 6 month storage, probably due to being set up by Northampton Motorsport. quick release boss with 280mm Momo steering wheel in as new condition. Heater box , Westfield genuine side doors. Quick connect Cetek charger socket on dash, and charger included in price. This is a toasty car if you’re caught coming home when the sun has gone down and the weather changes. Drives extremely well. Lots of TLC during lockdown as evidenced in photos. based Glasgow. This will be a great touring car for someone, or an unadulterated car for making your own without worrying about botched repairs previously done. This is one of the tidiest standard Westies available. It’s due an oil and filter change and I can do this before selling, or new owner can carry this out themself, oil (Mobil 1) and filter already purchased. This car is a lot of fun and warm and dry if you want to tour, or just for some back road hoonery and will have you grinning from ear to ear. spare wheel and carrier included in sale (not fitted) Car is based in Glasgow, Scotland £10,000

  11. I'll be there again (two in a row .. I know it's a shock 🤣). Depending on how he's feeling I might bring my son Josh so will only be there for the McD's part of the run. If I do bring him I'd be really grateful if he could sit in a couple of the Westfields ... it would make his holiday.

  12. I think the ability to park without worry about 'casual fiddling' or unexpected showers would mean less circular drives and more trips to interesting destinations. That might help win over my wife in terms of the 'funny noisy car' I bought. 🤣

  13. Happy birthday guys, great day today @aeg even if we were in the wrong cars, we must be getting old when a bit of morning rain alters your ride.

  14. I forgot the towing bit! Yes, trailered mine through quite heavy rain with the tonneau on, kept it nice and dry inside all the way to NMS!!

  15. I've had them on pretty much all my Westfields; they're really handy. When parked, you'd be surprised how much light to moderately poor weather they'll keep out. I can't promise it will be bone dry inside, but your seats and floors don't usually look like swimming pools! Security is a funny thing, it does amaze me how much casual fiddling, looking with hands and feet, as kids climb in, and so on, specially at shows that it stops. Even on the street, most people do seem to hold back when the Tonneau's closed! On the move, one up in the car, with the passenger side, left covered, it helps enormously with keeping the swirling air in the cockpit under control. And of course, if you do get caught in any light rain, it stops the passenger seat headrest acting like a scoop to gather water in the seats base. Likewise, if travelling with luggage in the passenger side, on tour etc, it really does stop it blowing around etc.

  16. Whilst I feel a bit silly for doing this in the first instance, I really appreciate the explanations why it wasn’t a good idea as I can learn from this for the future. Interesting to learn how something that felt quite innocuous can turn into a critical point of failure with potentially serious consequences. 😳

  17. Aye, depending on the brand of tonneau, it's style, and the body shape of the car, (FW, ZK, ZK with rigid boot lid), you may share some, or none at all of the roof fixings. You will always have to add the front scuttle (across the top) and under/around the doors/side screens, as they aren't part of the normal roof attachment points. Yes, the first time drilling into bodywork is ALWAYS nerve wracking! Plenty of masking tape, where the holes need to be drilled into grp, and, daft though it sounds, either a fairly blunt drill bit, or use the drill in reverse; to start the hole and drill through the gel coat layer a blunt bit, or reverse uses the drill bit to sort of grind through the gel coat rather than cut, and pull, which can cause chipping. Mark them out, and take your time. If you've not drilled grp before, you might even consider drilling a test hole somewhere out of sight, first!

  18. Yep, all the studs have to be drilled. Don't worry, it's much easier than you'd think. Excluding the comfort strip over the dash, it's only three new holes per side 👍

  19. All of the studs for the tonneau were newly installed just for it. None of the hood suds were remotely in the same place. If you have dark bodywork, you might want to specify black studs. I picked up a cheap leather punch from Lidl. It was so much better than the item that softbits supplied. Let me know if you get one and I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made along the way
