Mad Dog Pete went for a knap when we got home. At 10.10pm he has now woken up for his evening meal. Tough life. ππ5 points

Life was so easy once, you trotted down to Maplins, picked your Velleman kit went home and got the soldering iron out, you then trotted back to pick a suitable housing for it π But I will certainly have to look into the printer, as then you can design one bespoke rather than getting whatever size happened to be at Maplins. Is there a printer for newbies or is there one that will be easy for me to operate, some makes and models would be handy at this stage. It only needs to be a smallish one, just for project boxes and the odd small parts on the car. Geez, this time last year I was stuck in the late 90's tech wise, feels like I fell asleep and woke up in 2022 π€£2 points

Don't forget to order the 3D printer to go along with the Arduino....you'll be needing lots of custom cases and parts soon, may as well succumb to the inevitable.....2 points

Thanks boys and girls for another great day out in the Peak District, itβs the best way to spend a sunny Sunday. We met at Matlock, there were lots of us and then Rob came with a load more, oh my and wow, what a great turn out. Thank you to everyone that came out in the lovely sunshine with their lovely cars. McDonalds car park We set off in a 12 car convoy looking amazing, through Chatsworth, Baslow, Barlow, up to Owler Bar and to Bradwell, waving at a load of classic cars with rally plates coming in the opposite direction. We had a good run with no issues and arrived at the Travellers Rest just in time for a hearty lunch. Travellers Rest car park Hearty lunch's In the Travellers Rest Most people scooted off in all different directions leaving 3 Andy's (and Becky, Mad Dog Pete and Debbie) to come with us to Adam's Happy Hen's in search of cakes. Luke, Gemma and the girls were just walking down the driveway as we arrived so we all enjoyed a tea party together. Adam's Happy Hen's car park Creme egg smashed onto a cookie, yum yum. Tea party Thank you to everyone for coming today, I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have, look out for the Easter run out next weekend.2 points

I know it's on your doorstep, but have you been to the tank museum - on certain Saturdays they drive some out into the arena.1 point

RIAT sounds great - Never been to Goodwood, neither FoS nor the Revival, just worry that both may be too packed. RIAT has the advantage of being reasonably close to us... Thank you1 point

Two of my personal favourites are RIAT at Fairford (normally the years biggest military airshow in the world) and the Goodwood Festival of Speed1 point

It was inevitable really. Even in a fast car the foot down and hope for the best is a bit 'squeeky bum' at times. Glad it wasn't any of our group though.1 point

All, As per above please email stoneleigh@wscc.co.uk to volunteer and register for camping Thanks Stoneleigh Organising Team1 point

Thanks Chris, I will do some research, as as you say its inevitable that one will be needed at some stage, other long time mate told me to get one years ago as he has done loads of bespoke widgets since. Kind of getting a bit of a tech overload, but I will learn the new stuff I am sure. I will let you know what I go with π1 point

There was a long discussion on entry level printers over in the 3D printing section. Probably the first decision to make is budget. Basically, Β£200 gets you something that is capable of excellent results but may require some nursing from time to time. 4 to 5 times that gets you something that doesn't print 4 to 5 times better, but will be more reliable and less hands-on. I went with the Β£200 option myself and don't regret it. Since I bought mine, things have moved on a lot, and many of the upgrades & improvements I put on mine are now standard and come with even the cheapest machines very often. I'd happily recommend a Creality Ender 3 V2 as an example of a Β£200 class machine that's worth considering. https://www.creality3dofficial.com/products/ender-3-v2-3d-printer Personally, I think the best upgrade I added was the BLTouch bed level sensor as it makes general use so much easier. Not essential, but very worthwhile imo. Silent stepper drivers are I think pretty much universal now, so probably not a concern. Many others out there, lots & lots of YT reviews too.1 point

Just to button the temp gauge project up, removed devices and soldered to vero, will order a nano and suitable box for this and another nano for the indicator flasher project. I will post any further aurdunio projects in my garage thread. Thank you for all the comments and hopefully I will learn how to code myself one day. Anyway successful 1st project, even if I did copy and paste the coding and least I now am getting familiar with it.1 point

I don't have a problem with plastic, but wouldn't personally be comfortable with a printed part as a spacer with any significant thickness for 2 reasons - compressive strength and temperature resistance, depending on material and density. Eg a PLA part with a low infill density would be structurally weak. For longer bolts, my preference is for 12.9 class Unbrako brand: https://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/BO_ScrewBolt_Unbrako_SHCsk_M5.html1 point

Finally it has happened, there was an accident today at the entrance to Quackers. It is a fact that you can only have so many near misses before you have a hit. I have copied and pasted the facebook post from Thornbridge Hall below @NigelO **UPDATE** THE A6020 HAS REOPENED, NORMAL ACCESS IS RESUMED Access via our main entrance is currently blocked due to an accident. They hope to have it open again soon. We have staff out helping to divert visitors in and out. For now please use our entrance on Longstone Lane. For anyone that is not familiar with Quackers cafe, you absolutely cannot turn right out of the entrance and turning left is a foot down and go for it job. It is on a blind bend speed limit 50 mph. I have asked for them to put a mirror on the wall opposite and they say that they can't because then they would be liableπ While I am here, what fantastic photo's everyone has posted, aren't we a colourful bunch? thank you x0 points
