Daft as a box of frogs ? Left just after 1 pm in lovely sun and home just after 8pm in the pitch dark!! 220 miles for fish n chips at ullapool and stopped to help a lotus Elise who’d broken down, I left when the breakdown arrived, hope he got home okay Not to much traffic north of Inverness and on the way home. Cleared my mind and put a smile on my face5 points

Hi all, I recently purchased this Westfield 7 that I now find is a PreLit one and apparently very rare. It was raced at Brands Hatch then later shipped to Japan and raced at Suzuka. In 2006 it was shipped to Australia. I really don't know much else about it. Just wondering if anyone might know about it. https://www.flickr.com/photos/195250711@N04/51948039902/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/195250711@N04/51948040057/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/195250711@N04/51954352119/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/195250711@N04/51949333389/in/dateposted-public/1 point

I'm staying local tomorrow due to Mother's Day duties.... I was hoping to bring mom along tomorrow but she struggled to get in and out of the car when we tried today (shes very disappointed but needs a bit more time for her shoulder to heal from her operation last year).... on the upside, she is meeting me for breakfast at a local car meet in the morning instead. The joys of a petrolhead mother 😂1 point

Part of the problem is, we've "all" kind of got obsessed with Action Cameras that were designed originally for the opposite of how we use them, and what we want. To the extent, that enough petrol/gear heads use them now on cars and bikes etc, that the makers have tried to throw us a bone by including some software features that work well for us, image wise, and clamps and mounts suitable for vehicles. BUT, we still have the issue that the actual cameras are designed to be miniature, all in one devices, easily worn on the body or head, for shooting action sports footage. So they're not designed to have permanent power supplies, or constant running. There are cameras designed for vehicle use, which have much better focal length lenses for car to car filming, permanent power supplies, proper remote stop start buttons etc. BUT, because they're for such a small market, the prices are huge, fitting is more complicated, and frankly the technology lags behind the action cameras quite a bit. You're probably almost as well, for what requirements and price you list, just looking at the really cheap knock-off clones of Go Pro's etc, and regarding them as almost disposable. - And lots of batteries/memory cards. Or, go for a second hand decent camera system, from maybe a generation or two back, when someone upgrades to something newer.1 point

Many action cams don't like to be recording continuously and hence overheat due to the processing power used for smoothing/stabilizing etc. I fell out with my GoPro hero 7 as I get fed up with it not stopping and starting when I wanted via the phone app. I'm now using a Insta 360X2(Not in budget, sorry) which so far appears to be great. I'd add the ability to use an external mic to your list as wind noise ruins most external mounted cameras. I use a cheap lapel mic in the footwell. As the X2 will only record for 30 mins max. I generally keep an eye on the recording length and stop and restart, to ensure certain parts of a drive are recorded.1 point

For me it was a discussion a few years ago at Stoneleigh with the then WSCC Chairman wanting a few more folks on board with various roles, I volunteered to help the club more (as its a great club ) in any way without wanting to be an AO or Committee member as thought that was out of my depth. Being a Moderator is an interesting role and as advised by others on this thread maybe a couple more now could be useful, sometimes your mod role is not required for months then we get bombarded 😬 WSCC has a comprehensive guide for mods (a bit like WSCC constitution) to follow which I have found very useful in the role also as a mod you sometimes need a kill switch to turn off your personal opinion when moderating 😅1 point
