  3. A beautiful sunny day for a last minute impromptu meet up at Curborough to watch the Autosolo for a couple of hours this morning. I've never watched an autosolo before, but seems a fun and cost effective way of getting into motorsport. Amazingly there were about 50 cars competing from little hatches like Micra's, Nova's, Mini's etc, loads of MX5's and even a couple of Mk1 Escorts.

  4. Hi everyone, first of our usual two track days this year. The first event is on Friday, May 27th, so will everyone read the booking process below and send me your details as requested please. Also, please read the following disclaimer: ** To save the WSCC from any liability issues I have to let you know that the Curborough track days have been booked by Warwickshire Area Organisers independently (as they have been for the last 15 years) and are not therefore organised or sanctioned by the Westfield Sports Car Club. ** As usual there are only 15 places available and I would like to offer the limited number of places to Warwickshire Area WSCC members first, followed by the wider WSCC membership. If all the places are not filled, I will post it on the Warwickshire Area Facebook page and accept non-WSCC members to make up the numbers. The cost this year will be £75 per person/car, if all 15 places are filled. This will cover all costs with a small surplus that will be donated to the appropriate WSCC charity. However, if we cannot fill all the places then I will have to ask for additional funds to cover the cost of the hire and the food we provide. These track days are often oversubscribed therefore we will keep a reserve list in case of last minute withdrawals. The process is an online booking system as we used last year. Please follow the instructions below; 1. Send me a PM with your full name and email address 2. Pay the full balance by bank transfer to the details I return to you, ASAP please 3. Read the track hire rules emailed to you 4. Click on the link provided to complete and submit the Curborough driver booking form directly to SDCC Ideally, I would like to see all monies paid and booking forms completed by the 13th May, but it must be done by the week before the event ie. 20th May. Last minute bookings will not be possible so I will not be able refund any non-attendance. Due to the requirements of managing the track entrance and the BBQ etc. I could do with at least one assistant who is prepared to attend and help with organising without driving or alternatively a few drivers to give up driving time to assist. Please message me if you wish to volunteer. This is always a great day and a safe way to explore the limits of your car and yourself with only one car on the circuit at a time. The usual BBQ food will be provided, however if you have any special dietary requirements you will need to bring your own food. You will need to bring drinks too. Intend to open the gates around 9am, with bacon butties available for breakfast. The track will open at 10am, with lunch from 1pm until 2pm and finishing at 5pm. If you need any more information on this event, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I will add names to this list as they are booked - 15 PLACES AVAILABLE: 1. Ali and Gail 2. Justin Lever 3. David Burr 4. Andy & Becky 5. Geoff Hall 6. James R 7. Steve Potter 8. Dean Bakehouse 9. Phil Dyke 10. Mark Jones 11. James Huckerby 12. Adrian Parham 13. Mike Williams 14. Tony Marley 15. 5. Change of plan. I've been in touch with a new place, the White Horse in Ledston and they are happy to have us tomorrow night. It's a little more awkward to find, but it's a country pub with a decent car park. White Horse, 30 Main Street, Ledston, WF10 2AB.

  7. Does it have to be the same place every month? why not try a few - we could have different suggestions from members of venue's local to them, that way it would be different drives out as well

  11. Only ruddy just, it went the scenic way home, in Quackers it got nicked didn't it @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary, then it miraculously appeared in my car, best bit is that it was in a box and I never checked if the cake was actually in the box, I could have taken an empty box home😮 what kind of month is that to come off SORN? half way through the year that is😄 Glen thanks everyone for their kind comments and says send more cake, it eases the pain.......I'll take that as a pass out for next weekend then😃 Oh, don't forget we will be on bikerpics A625 Froggatt https://www.bikerpics.co.uk/f271986030

  13. @Glen_I I’m with your Nan in this and have been since I was young. I’ve always said my decision was 50% selfish and 50% selfless. Selfish because I wouldn’t want the responsibility, and selfless because how could I condemn another person to the world as I saw it developing. I suspect I’m very much in a minority. Population growth would tend to support that idea.

  14. The way China invades a country is with money. They 'convince' a government to take massive loans for some huge project the country doesn't really need, use Chinese labour and industry to implement the project, then present the host nation with a huge bill that they can't afford. A recent and very dramatic demonstration of that technique is the Maldives. China persuaded the leaders to have a bridge built between the airport island and Male. Given that the vast majority of traffic to & from the airport is tourists, very few of whom go to Male itself, it's a bridge to nowhere. And we funded it all. Ironic that a communist nation has won at capitalism. The west is morally bankrupt and frankly, I'm glad I won't live all that much longer to see how it plays out. Kind of vindicates my decision many years ago not to have kids - if I had any, I couldn't look them in the eyes the way the world is now.

  15. My floor was very dusty and I tried lots of different things to paint it and seal it, none of which work long term as it just broke up again. eventually I just got a cheep roll of Lino and that’s work perfectly for the last 10 years. It’s hard wearing, waterproof and can be swept easily.

  16. Without going a political we the consumers have made china the power it is. We have chased cheaper products from around the world and China with its massive population, land mass and resource were there waiting to take advantage. We ignored the fact they had human rights abuse, that they have form for invading areas, like Tibet, just so long as we get a cheaper product. We continue to ignore their buying up Africa and countries in he Caribbean with cheap loans etc. China is just as dangerous as Russia and it is only their economy success with the rest of the world that allows them to do what they do.

  17. Sorry for the short notice, I only found out late last night, but the Fox and Grapes will be closed on Tuesday night due to staff shortages. This is the second month running, and I don't know if this is a regular thing or not. Maybe it's time to find a new venue. Hopefully we'll be able to do it next month.
