  2. Who's interested for this year - McWesties, and any other members nationwide? Tack it to the start or end of a NC500 trip or other? Some Saturday in August. Destination possibles - Peebles or Lanark. Accomodation will be dearer this year, that's just the way it is nowadays, but I'd be trying for group earlybird discount at the chosen hotel (but of course there is also other local B&B's etc you can take, but the dinner would be at the nominated hotel). Or just do it as a day-trip.

  3. Yes I’d be up for that - especially if they want a sedate experience 🤣

  4. I've just bought my second Redtop car, lucky to have the spec I wanted and only 3900 miles, You'll have to be prepared to travel long distances to find what you want, although you'll never find exactly what you want. I'm fitting a half cage, seats and windscreen to make it my own.

  5. That would buy you a nice Duratec, Zetec, C20XE engined car with a bit of tuning say 190 to 240 bhp. Take little notice of the year and mileage as many Westfield's have been up dated, rebuilt and you'll be checking the condition of the bodywork chassis and trim when viewing a car. Popular upgrades that add value are widetrack steering rack, carbon fibre body parts and dash, decent wheels and tyres, modern seats and harnesses to name a few. You'll need to decide if you want a road or track focused car as the options and upgrades are quite different. If you're a keen DIY type, it maybe beneficial to buy a basic no frills Westfield for £10k and upgrade it yourself to make it your own. Have a trawl through past classified ads and see what's going for your budget and prices do go up in springtime so be prepared for that in a couple of months. Happy hunting.

  6. Almost exactly the same spec as mine but a bit overpriced. Have a look at Toybox cars if you're prepared to pay £18k.

  8. Haha, not my favourite tyre either.... loads of people run them without a problem. I have them on my track prepped Mini (they came with some ultralites I bought) and I can get wheelspin in 4th in the wet which makes life interesting! OK in the dry though I've found

  10. What are you wanting to use the car for? You need to work backwards from that re spec.

  12. I'm sure Dave wouldn't have had tyre contact, given how well he builds and maintains his cars. However this doesn't mean you won't as no two Westfields are the same and there's too many variables involved. If you space your wheel out, temporarily with washers on the wheel studs by 26mm. You'll be able to see if you're likely to have a problem. Though please don't drive like this

  13. A little update from my racing exploits... We finished off our 6 round Winter Championship last night at the Wirral club. Round 5 and 6 each saw me manage to win the B finals and be 5th fastest on the overall round timesheet (although still failing to actually get an A final place during qualifying to claim it 🤦‍♂️). I was also very chuffed to have been awarded the prize for "most improved driver" alongside the overall winners at the championship presentations. Not bad having only started up racing again just 5 weeks before it started. My prize was another really smart looking shell donated by our resident club paint expert who did my Gulf one...

  14. Welcome Mark, that's a great budget that should cover a good range of cars. The best tip I can give is try and see as many as possible, as it will give you a great feel for what to look at. Area meets are fantastic for this, as you can have a good up-close look at the cars, ask questions etc.

  15. Hi Thanks for the advice, I would ideally like a well sorted red top, I wouldn’t mind doing bits of work to get it to my spec, be interested to see what’s out there for sale
