  1. Big Andy was excited to bring his new car out to see us, a 2 litre Zetec on Omex throttle bodies, with only 3500 miles on the clock it looks brand new. Today was it's first proper drive out and he tells me that it drives a dream, here is a photo of it last week when he first picked it up. And here is a photo of it today in a proper setting, in the Peak District along with a line of other Westfield's, perfect. We were just waiting for a certain cat to arrive, Bagpuss, but his owner had been busy growing his leg hairs. Here he is, looking good in the sunshine with us all At Quackers we found the sun trap and settled down for a bit of sunbathing, just remind me, it is January right? Luke called over to see us in his tin top and updated us with his winter plans for the V8 that he built. We were missing our regulars @RobH72 and @Glynn Walters and hope to see you guys very soon. With our resident pin up boys, the 2 Billies, at the back we set off in convoy for a run over the high roads to take in the views. Destination Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Longnor We settled down for our Beef or Lamb carvery After a hearty lunch we needed a sugar hit and we were only a few miles from our favourite homemade cake shop, Hulme End. I found some good company in the car park. It was full inside, so we had takeaway and sat out to eat our brownie and scones, good job we are dressed for it. Thanks for the great company folks, it's been rather a good laugh, covering an eclectic mix of topics I must say, so keep it up and hope to see you next week xxxx

  12. I've put her to bed in a brand new 100% Cotton - 'AutoPyjama', not a drop of rain all the way home.... tho it was a challenge not to use my windscreen washers, the low horizon winter sun was a real pain.

  13. Yeah we sat in a local pub a while back.... soooo long ago, pre the chinesium covidium BS, I asked the love of my life what she'd do if I ever won the lottery, she said "I'd take half and leave, maybe start an animal sanctuary" Having just had a win I offered "here's £12.50.... feel free...... the family jewels never got over the retaliation.

  14. Sorry I missed it, looks like you had a great day👍 Unfortunately I was up to my armpits in wiring all day.... I've been having a serious headlight malfunction (they didn't work!) since I swapped from the old Venoms. Ask me to whip an engine out or change a cylinder head and I'm happy, hand me a multimeter and I'm a gibbering wreck! I'd got the indicators and DRL's to work but that was probably more luck than judgement 🤪 The builder had made some strange wiring decisions I just couldnt figure out.... fortunately my eldest son is a real whizzkid with electronics, but even he was flummoxed for hours (which made me feel slightly less inadequate!). I made a number of brews, made encouraging noises and pretended I understood at least half of what he was saying! 😂 Anyway, after 6 hours of troubleshooting it's now sorted and I have dipped and main beam again so all is good in the world 👍

  19. It helps if I was in the car though, I came out of the supermarket , trolley in hand and saw a car hit the arch, the driver was just looking foward 😂. When questioned they said, well it didn't bleep so I thought it was clear 😡

  21. So - had a blow out at 60mph on M1. Single axle trailer didn’t misbehave at all, so that’s a myth busted. Only heard excess noise and spotted the blue smoke in the nearside mirror. I decided to try and fit the spare as it was on the nearside, so quickly got out the breaker bar and jack and cracked the 5 studs. Then the “oh crap” moment… Realised the key was in the jacket pocket of the jacket I had on when loading - that was still at home. At this point I’m starting to get twitchy about the volume of very fast traffic just a few feet away and try to break the lock - but no luck So I am now getting very nervous and figure it’s best to slowly drive up the hard shoulder to the next junction ½ a mile away. Not long until I hear big clunk and realise what a complete and utter turnip I’d been because instead of taking a chuffin photo I should have tightened the wheel studs back up. Lucky to only be doing 10mph though and no damage done as the spare saved the hub from taking the weight! Funny how your brain copes with panic and fear - mine must be a very odd brain feeling the need to record proceedings while being scared to death! So now I’m properly in panic mode and find a bigger thing to lever the padlock off - meaning I could fit the spare. BUT could only find 2 out of 5 studs nearby and no way was I going to remove one from the other side as that was just far too life threatening. But this was enough to allow me to gingerly proceed to the next junction where I could at least feel safe. Coincidently, a mate who recently joined the club @Apc1x called me to say he’d just passed me going the other way! He kindly offered to try and find some spare studs via local outlets but alas no luck. It was now up to @Andy - a15cro to rescue me as he recalled having two spares with his trailer and he was not too far behind me. Sure enough he did and so I could continue on to the track day where more of my utter muppetry would unfold 🤣 Hindsight is a wonderful thing and so on reflection I really should have slowly driven on the hard shoulder to safety before attempting to fit the spare on a such a busy stretch - or maybe called the police. It’s far too easy to make mistakes under such stressful circumstances so I’m hoping that others can at least learn from my own stupidity!

  22. I think it's a good idea, get them as young as possible and let them see what a car should be like without all these modern driver aids, I do feel these are reducing skills somewhat, especially the reversing bleeper aids, folks don't use mirrors anymore they just listen to the bleeps. I have two scuffs on my rear wheel arch to confirm this....

  25. We at SKCC (southern kit car club) are very active most of the year almost every Sunday morning albeit a bit more south easterly than your suggested meeting area. if you manage to get support then give us a shout and we could combine a couple of meets now and again to bolster the numbers - we often start at Buck Barn on the A24 Mac Donald’s services for a run to a convenient cafe.. I suspect we are mainly made up of westys at the moment but have other marques join us regularly

  27. Thanks chaps, nice knowing there are a nice group behind you to help you enjoy the new toy! Cant resist a fettle with frostbite! But have to agree, losing days is negative, becoming a proper Westfield Owner is a better way of looking at it. I've sort of set up a Hampshire/Surrey/Sussex thread, so if any owners you know live south of the M25, please point them our way, should be easy to find the thread.

  28. Morning, I am a new member to the club, I got my Westfield Sei narrow body 1.6 crossflow engine last June 2021. Firs of all, apologise for my English, I am from Spain and I live here so even the distance I think is very useful joining this club as its very impressive the amount of technical information here. I am not a mechanic, I am engineer therefore I am sure I will need assistance from all of you, and I would like to try to do my self all I am able to do. This car has been in spain since 2000, I bought from a Catalonian guy , therefore the plate with B (Barcelona). I had been looking ofr a westfield during a couple of years, however all cars I found were left right driver position, and this was the only one with right drive drive within budget that I could afford. The car has a few things to improve like the brake pedals, rear brakes , in fact it failed pass the ITV (Spanish MOT), so this would be my first topic. Here you have some pictures of the car.
