  1. A sad read, I notice yesterdays death of Meatloaf is blamed on Covid, I am unable to find out if this was the 'only' reason he died or there were other factors at play. The family have not released the cause of death . The only issue I have on the reporting of Covid deaths is when someone has had it within 28 days of their death and yet it was plainly nothing to do with the actual 'virus'. I lost an eldely relative just before Christmas who caught Covid in hospital, he died from Dementia , yet Covid was put on his death cert, which then goes on to add to the overall death rate in some reports. For me this needs to stop as it is giving false and overly inflated death rates, the YT Doc I watch suggests this could be 8 or 9 times the 'actual' Covid deaths. I assume these anti-vaxxers are also flat earthers and moon landing deniers, believe what you want but don't spout your ideas to others.

  3. Now my new wheels have arrived, (with more classic looking offsets, to suit my new tub and arches), I've had a chance to remove and clean up the Team Dynamics, that were on there. These are the typical staggered Proraces, in 15x7" ET40 as fronts, and 15x8" rears, ET24; I used the rears with a 10mm spacer on my car with the ZK arches. (I'm re-using the spacers with the new wheels, too). The tyres are Nankang NS2R's in 205/50 15", the two fronts average around 5mm tread. The rears aren't quite on the wear bars across the width of the tyres, but getting there! (Average around 3mm across most of the tyre, but the outer edges show that exuberant cornering in the Alps and the Peaks! and are on the bars, just about). The wheels have done around 25k miles, so are not absolutely perfect, one (front) has a very small stone chip, through the powder coat, and one rear has a few small scuff marks that do not go through the powder coat, courtesy of a funny shaped French curb, that I barely kissed at very slow speed, while leaving the hotel car park. The inside surfaces show a few more signs of use, as you'd expect, but are ok for the age/miles. Will take £400, call it £375 collected, as I could do with the space, from a WSCC member. Stone chip: (easily touched in). Scuff in the powder coat: Front tyre no1. Front no2. Rear no1. Rear no2. Collection from Sandbach, 10 mins from M6 Jn17, only. Thanks

  4. I may bump into you at Crewe at some point in the future @Greenstreak-Andy D. Considering taking my GT12 there for a race night to get some experience away from Wirral as I'm considering going to a national in March and don't want to have only experienced one type of carpet.

  5. Cheers Andy, only had to take them on and off twice so far😂 I’d got the remap booked for Monday but hit a couple of snags yesterday so had to cancel to be on safe side! Sod’s law though it’s now sorted🤦🏻‍♂️ At least it gives me a bit more time to tidy things up!

  6. @OldStager and @Blueass fly - thanks, I don’t have anything to swap for it at the moment and I’m planning on getting a clock and oil temp gauge as well, hopefully all the same or to match my EBTs. Thanks for the effort in identifying it for me! 😀

  9. It’s funny, but the “shock news, our leaders are a********s” doesn’t really bother me that much, it’s not even all that disappointing any more. They are all a********s, always have been, always will be, regardless of party, country or ideology. Never give power to someone that wants it.

  12. I forgot about test equipment, one we had was called a mega, sounds like Jeffs plug tester to be honest, but it was for 'flashing out' Pyro, an industrial cable that was fire proof, the Mega would produce huge voltages in order to ensure the cable end you had completed was clear of faults, so we used to connect to to the other end of the cable which could be up to 100 metres away whilst some poor soul was preparing the Pyro end and hit the 'test' button, you would hear cries of pain in some part of the building and it took a while for some appretices to catch on 😮

  14. I know the past was not perfect but there was more fun in the workplace then. As a young mechanic we were subjected to all sorts of "fun". Sent for a long stand, to the shop for a packet of family way toffees etc. I had a pair of steel toe capped boots, which I polished to mirror finish, for some reason this wound a couple up so their answer was to weld them to the workbench, only problem my feet were still in them. I learnt how to make size 9 size 4 quickly. Got my own back on one. We had a champion spark plug cleaner and tester. If you ran a wire from the test lead to the brass door handle, you could push the button just as they got hold of it and by some twist of luck the current kept their hand there in place for a good length of time before they could let go. Yanking the wire off and running away meant they never caught me. So many done to me but I never did it to my apprentices but was happy to pay back those who did things to me.

  19. I’ve said it before, the “within 28 days” figure is a very blunt tool IMO. A person could have a +ve test then get run over by a bus and it would still make that stat. The only figure that makes sense to me is the excess deaths one. https://ourworldindata.org/excess-mortality-covid I can’t recall the exact figures now, but I think the excess deaths for the UK was around the 120k mark since covid arrived. Deaths attributed purely to covid are around 17k, but I think that’s a tool just as blunt given just how many folk aren’t in 100% perfect health.

  20. Seems he had a few issues, as well as being over weight. 'Meat Loaf, who was severely asthmatic and battled a range of other health issues before the pandemic'

  21. Those figures do not stack up. 3 deaths caused by covid in under 19s with no other co morbidity. This is also don't forget across other variants which were widely accepted as more deadly. Vs Deaths involving the COVID-19 vaccination for 12 to 15 and 16 to 17 year olds You can find the number of deaths attributed to adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccination in table 12 of our Monthly Mortality Analysis dataset. There are currently 9 deaths registered in England and Wales with the aligning ICD codes for this. https://www.ons.gov.uk/aboutus/transparencyandgovernance/freedomofinformationfoi/deathsinvolvingthecovid19vaccinationfor12to15and16to17yearolds I'm sorry but unless my child has an underlying issue they'd be going nowhere near a jab, especially not for omicron. The fact that some countries are jabbing down to age 5 is unbelievable.

  26. I haven't dismantled an engine down to removing valves since I did my BMC 'A' Series in my 1970 MG Midget. The Standard Ten from 1954 had discs with a keyhole in it that you simply slipped under the recess rathe than fiddling with split collets. Nowadays I try to adopt the 'let some other bu99er do it' stance.

Now my son has challenged me, so not to be outdone, have bought another for myself ! I should pick up the kit in a couple of weeks ! Transmitter and receiver arrived today. Andy

  32. That would be my thought. My personal take, is that this year, it would be nice, at Stoneleigh and at the Silverstone Classic for the Club to do something, as a tribute, to celebrate/commemorate Chris Smith, himself, and then next year, celebrate the “brands” anniversary, in the same way.

  33. I have to say that Im enjoying my Sundays racing now, second visit last Sunday and although I had two major breakages, front plastic bulk head snapped (replaced with stronger one) and then rear ended at full speed whilst I was stationary on the start line, smashed a rear wish bone, fortunately I managed to find spares to keep me racing. I only went and won my final! Seems the odd tweak here and there made a big difference to the handling. The only downside is an early morning start on a day off. 😞
