  1. That would be my thought. My personal take, is that this year, it would be nice, at Stoneleigh and at the Silverstone Classic for the Club to do something, as a tribute, to celebrate/commemorate Chris Smith, himself, and then next year, celebrate the “brands” anniversary, in the same way.

  2. @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary id wholeheartedly agree with that as otherwise the two become one and recognition of Chris’ endeavours, vision, commitment and the seeds he sowed deserves to be recognised on its own , as obviously without that WSC, the club and the cars we love may never have materialised.

  3. That was the Clubs anniversary, though, not Westfields. As for when the “fortieth” is from Westfield Sports Cars themselves, I guess we ought to take a lead from WSC Ltd themselves.

  4. ....... and WSCC released this special edition thanks mainly to @Captain Colonial the mad Volvo driver 😁, could we do something similar for this anniversary ? @John Dolan - Chairman @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary @Andy Malone - Editor

  7. I have also been looking at a number of websites looking to get a RC toy. I first got my mardave marauder had that for a number of years. Then built a electric boat, but it didn’t hit the spot like a car did, then got a HPI touring car which kept snapping the drive shafts after about 2-4 runs. After a few years I had ago with RC helicopters, enjoyed it but aways fear of it falling out of the sky like a brick.

  8. Just about to head out to this weeks racing meet. Quick update from last week though... qualified 4th in the B and then was leading it for 300 seconds before being overtaken on the penultimate corner of the race to finish 2nd. Definite improvement though and my best result by a mile. Also, my new shell has just been finished for me 😍 Picking it up tonight...

  11. Hi Guys, We asked you all a while back for some feedback on the changes and updates we had made to the shop and had some really positive feedback from what we had done. We are asking again if there is anything else we can improve on or anything that can be added or changed to make the shopping experience the best it can be for you all. Please let us know and we will set out to try and do our best to fulfil requirements Thanks as always WSC Parts Dept

  12. I bought my son a Mardave mini a few years ago , just getting into it and Covid stopped play. Just started back a the RC club in Crewe. Had a great time. Now my son has challenged me, so not to be outdone, have bought another for myself ! I should pick up the kit in a couple of weeks ! Transmitter and receiver arrived today. Andy

  13. Having seen these in the flesh, albeit off the car, but tyres fitted - I can only agree with @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary that the photos don’t do them justice. They are fantastic looking wheels. Offsets work brilliantly too. Have bought that Gtech stuff for my wheels now!

  15. @Steve (sdh2903) The front and rear new wheels, 7" & 8" x 15" with new, unused, Uniroyal Rainsport 5's in 205/50 15" all round, weigh 16 kg each, as near as my scales can manage. The Team Dynamics are where it gets complicated, there's quite a variety of tread depths across the tyres, so how much difference that would make, I don't know. I have a suspicion the Nankangs might be a wee bit variable weight wise, in their own right - the wheels with them on usually took a wee bit of balancing, and a heavy tyre. Though on the right car, they're very good. The average weight, across the four, therefore, was 16.1 kg )Team Dynamics, 7" & 8" x 15" with used Nankang NS2R's fitted, (Rears are close to needing replacing, fronts OK). Lowest weight, 15.3 kg, coincidentally most worn rear. highest, 18 kg, least worn front.

  16. @OldStager - just looked at @blueassfly post in a bit more detail. I’m looking for analogue, blackface to match my existing ETB instruments, but thanks for thinking of me. 👍😀

  17. In my humble opinion it would be next year as the anniversary of the company, prior to this it was Chris’ private endeavours which later blossomed into WSC. Just my twopenneth.

  18. It’s not at all cynical to expect the incentives to disappear, it’s simply realistic. They are about the only tool that works to steer behaviours. Not forgetting the stick that always accompanies the carrot of course.

  19. I have to say that Im enjoying my Sundays racing now, second visit last Sunday and although I had two major breakages, front plastic bulk head snapped (replaced with stronger one) and then rear ended at full speed whilst I was stationary on the start line, smashed a rear wish bone, fortunately I managed to find spares to keep me racing. I only went and won my final! Seems the odd tweak here and there made a big difference to the handling. The only downside is an early morning start on a day off. 😞

  20. Same old warcries as ever whenever EV gets discussed anywhere. “The grid can’t cope”. National Grid don’t agree with that assessment. It WILL need investment, but that is happening. Just recently rights for about 25GW of potential wind capacity was sold in Scotland to a variety of buyers. Even if only half that gets built, that’s not nothing. Anything to reduce our reliance on foreign gas is good news imo. We won’t be switching to 100% EV any time soon, if ever actually, but say we did, we’d need around a 50% increase in generation capacity to achieve that. A lot, but far from impossible. “The grid will melt when everyone plugs in at the same time”. All new chargers have to be ‘smart’ meaning they can be managed remotely. Grid capacity will get shared out if/when needed, and after the first rush of paranoia is over, it’s unlikely the average user is going to charge every time they park in the same way that most if us don’t fill our fuel tanks every time we pass a garage. That said, there are certainly issues that need resolving, not least with the many looped consumers, but the problem is always overstated. A typical home EV charger maxes out at 7.2kW, less than an electric shower. Not that we burn much these days, but a coal fired power station charging cars is still less bad for the environment than burning petrol in them. Hard to find figures, but overall efficiency of coal to car is roughly 30%, petrol car probably broadly similar but wit no allowance for the petrol production in that. Carbon capture at a power station is plausible, not so much at a tailpipe. Endless arguments for and against, but they all come down to one thing, will. If the will to clean up exists, it’ll happen. I’ve no illusion about who pays for it though nor about who will get rich from it, but that’s an entirely different topic and FWIW, I’d rather my money went to someone profiting from green tech than fossil fuels.

  21. Sorry it’s a no from us as on holiday ( yet again I know 🤣) but if anyone has a spare couple of hours feel free to go to ours and play in the garage !!! All the bits are on the bench ready to fit , radiator and hoses, brake pads and fluid, oil filter, sump gasket and oil and if you want something as a real challenge the new garage up and over door. See you all soon if we’re not on holiday ! Andy and Becky

  22. Nevertheless, EU7 emission regulations by 2026 are so strict that manufacturers will be forced to stop offering pure ICE cars. In fact, new car buyers have already made the mental switch - diesel car sales have died completely and demand for anything with a plug is hugely outstripping supply. Used cars remain viable beyond 15 years of age, so many people can continue to run around with conventional petrol and diesel engines for a long time yet - but not new ones.
