One problem with masks is that as I understand it, they can be difficult for someone who suffers from sever asthma. Other than that however, the ant-mask people appear to me at least to either ignore or fail to understand the purpose of wearing a mask. When I wear a mask in an enclosed space it isn't to protect me, because it isn't very good at doing that, but it is to protect those around me because if I sneeze or cough whilst wearing a mask then most if not all of the aerosol droplets will be contained in the mask and not drift in the direction of others. So when I see someone in an enclosed space walk close to me without wearing a mask it makes me very nervous, and frankly angry, because the impression is that they are not bothered whether or not they imnfect me with a potentially dangerous virus. So can someone explain to me why an "anti-mask" person feels that they have the right to make that choice to at best frighten me and at worst threaten my good health? I just can't see the logic of it, so can someone explain. Who knows, maybe someone can re-assure me. I have a number of close relatives who are doctors or nurses or surgeons, including 3 consultants, none of whom can think of a good reason for this.3 points

In reply to 'masks are useless' my reply, aimed at an unintellectual level, is "...when one is wearing a mask it is impossible to spit in somebody's face..." They can take it out of that!2 points

Hi Charlie Welcome to the club. It’s probably the best investment you can make when owning a Westfield. There are some incredibly knowledgeable people in the club and I wouldn’t have been able to build my Westfield last year without the amazing advice on this forum. If you haven’t owned one of these cars before then like me then here’s some things I have learnt over the last year. 1. You are significantly less visible to other drivers for some reason so remember to double check each time when coming out of junctions 2. It’s a kit car and sometimes they like to be difficult. Even the best prepared cars can be grumpy some days. But solving those problems is when the forum comes in very handy. 3. Every modified Focus or Astra will want to race you. Ignore them you have to much class. 4. Every garage or stop off point there will be someone showing interest and asking questions. They will always ask “is that a Caterham”. 😂 Get used to it.2 points

I too would be interested to hear the thinking from an anti-masker about how their choices and actions impact others. Even if they deny a mask achieves anything at all, they can't deny that them not wearing one does impact others. If I was in the group of those who couldn't wear a mask, I'd go out of my way to give others a wide berth....but that's just me I suppose. Not saying I'm a wonderful human being, in fact, I think a lot of the time I'm just an A******e, but there are some things I try to be considerate about. I suppose it comes into the actions and responsibility category. Feel free to make your choices, but bear in mind they might have consequences beyond yourself and be ready to accept the responsibility for that. To paraphrase a comedian I watched recently, "If mask wearing is useless, I've suffered mild inconvenience by wearing a mask for no reason. If it does matter, then by not wearing one I might have killed someones granny" It always struck me how a lot of Asian societies have adopted mask wearing when suffering colds/flu etc - it must be a special kind of hell to wear a mask when you have a cold, but they do it for the sake of those around them. Don't hear of any anti-mask backlash from those parts of the world.1 point

Thanks for such a warm welcome everyone, great to see how much of a community feel there is on the forums. Quick rundown of the car, it's got a 2l Blacktop Zetec with OMEX ECU and throttle bodies on an MT75 gearbox, with Team Dynamics wheels. Part of the attraction to this model was that it's pretty close to what I was looking for, so while there's currently no immediate plans for changing anything on it, I'm sure that upgrade-itis isn't too far away. I took delivery of it just before heading back to see family for Christmas so currently don't have any other photos, but will make sure to head out in the new year to get some proper glamour shots of it I'll be looking to take part on some track days, but having never been on one before it's a slightly daunting prospect, are there some which are more newbie friendly, or will other members be happy to give some advice and show the ropes to a beginner? Sadly I'm not around for the January or February Thames Valley meets, but have put March in the calendar so look forward to seeing you there Steve!1 point

There may be a bit of WSCC courier help required if this comes off. If we up north travel too far we believe we will fall off the edge of the world! 🤣1 point

Yeah I get that. And if honest I was being slightly provocative in my response too. BUT. There's no need to fall into the trap of following the current trend of stereotyping. All people that don't take the vaccine are selfish idiots. People who take the vaccine are sheep. People who don't want to wear masks at work are workshy. The list goes on. We seem obsessed with labelling people at the minute. It's not on and not even remotely true. This thread has shown that there are clearly people from all sides that are well educated that have made their choices.1 point

After 10 years with the 1998 Yellow bathtub I’ve gone and bought another yellow bathtub of 2007 vintage and just 3900 miles. Has all the mechanical upgrades I was planning to do on the 1998 Westfield, which would save me a years work and a whole wad of cash. Anyone familiar with this car?as I want know what spec the Type 9 is, previous owner not mechanically minded.1 point

I have worked out how to add an image using an iPad or iPhone, so through Safari browser. See below for what to do. Select your image, then click on Show selected at the bottom of the image upload selector You should then see this box with the actual size option bottom right, click that. Then you should get some sizing options. I chose Large and it worked fine1 point
