  1. Thread resurrection.....................with good news. After 5 years and against all the odds, it's back home! Got to thank pete g again for talking me into posting a lost/stolen ad on a couple of sites. One of which has sat there all this time and finally paid dividends!

  2. For the best Westfield experience, Go out to your garage in the middle of winter, peel some onions and set £20 notes on fire.

  3. retiring today, early, but the voluntary redundancy offer was too good to pass up. Feels odd having been with Nissan that long

  6. If you get yourself along to a trackday that has a few of us at.. there'll be plenty of offers of passenger laps as a first step? There's not much happening this time of year, although a few hardy souls are still at it. See the trackday section. 🙂

  7. @dombanks - thanks for that. Fortunately I’m only 25 mins or so away from the Golden Pheasant in Plumley! 😀

  8. I have one. Bought it in the early 80's, great car but the brass uj's wear out. I took it to a local model shop a few years ago to see about trading it in for a Buggy ( I've recently bought a Holiday Buggy). When I took it out of the bag, the guy looked like all his dreams had come true, he was almost speechless. Still got it, thinking about making a trailer for the Buggy.

  9. You’re right. The majority are Tamiya’s too. I sold an original 959 rally last year with an incredibly rare unpainted body and made over £700. Also got rid of an F201 at the same time for £300.

  10. The first car I used properly was a Tamiya Manta Ray (borrowed from my neighbour who also had a Grasshopper). But the first car of my own was a Kyosho Lazer Alpha which I raced for a while, along with an old orange anodised tub chassis Team Associated RC10 my Dad won in an auction but the spares were hard/expensive to get hold of. Then when I got a bit better I ended up going towards Schumacher and had a secondhand Bosscat for a bit, before upgrading to Cat 2000 4WD and also Cougar 2000 2WD. When I came back to it again later I worked for CML Distribution (who distributed Team Associated, Yokomo, Reedy, Novak, and many more major brands) so I got everything at either a heavy staff discount (the same as the sponsored drivers) or completely free for testing/reviewing/etc... As such I ended up with a Team Associated TC3 and TC4, RC10B3, RC12L3, and also a lovely all carbon Yokomo BD10 (and randomly a Robitronic touring car as my local model became their distributer for a bit and wanted some local drivers to race it at big meetings for some exposure). What a life for an RC fanatic it was! I'm taking a much more modest approach now as my racing will be around family time, so I've got myself a secondhand GRP Schumacher Atom 2 GT12 car (the current but most basic version), along with a load of secondhand electronics from members at the club to get going with cheaply. We'll see how it goes and if my son gets into it before I start spending any big bucks again. Oh and the Acoms Techniplus Alpha... my first transmitter and one of my favourites!

  11. @CherryTreeFW I am a member of Kitnet and the founder Colin is a local to me here in Bristol - he drives a lovely Yellow/Black Duratec Westy. They are quite active in this area, very open to any type of kit and don't have any hang ups as long as you are polite and don't stir stuff up - bit like us! They run a number of excellent track days with PJ's Track Days(Profits to charity) days down here at Castle Coombe or Pembray (Not last year as rules changes). There are regular monthly pub meets as well as other socials, a good help section and also offers of tools/big kit loans etc. As @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary said, just be careful of the info/answers as there are just as many opinions there as here...

  12. That was a good call, this is the road leading from Ashbourne into the Peak District, the A515, today. Looks like @BillyPee made it out on his 1 seater soft top😄 Stay safe and warm folks and hope to see you next Sunday.

  13. CANCELLED Although it is actually forecast to be dry on Sunday I just think the condition of the roads out in the countryside will not be conducive to enjoying driving a Westfield. I am thinking driving through salty, slushy, freezing sludge isn't the best way to spend a day in a Westfield, so sorry folks, if you do get out on your more local roads have fun and be careful. Next weekend we will be out on the Sunday, look out for it in 'Events' and hope to see you then, if the weather allows.
