I must say a massive thank you to @DamperMan for his assistance yet again. After he heard about our “Curborough kiss” he asked us to get all the dampers and springs sent to him so he could check them, something I didn’t think of. One damper was beyond repair and another had a bend in the shaft we had not noticed. We need two new ones which he discounted again for us. We chose to collect from Bicester as we where also collecting a nose cone from him. Tony also gave us a guided tour round the factory from start to finish, engineering at its best. Thank you12 points

Probably it was last trackday this season on last sunday... Two seasons and every one trackday finished with no isssues...exept one - snapped wishbone bracket, always somewhere on podium . Only disappointment is that I cant take this car on the roads , drive with sons etc. just for a trip.. but working on that Edit : and almost forgot - the "sequence of snapshots" If someone is considering a straight cut gearbox for road better hear this9 points

Further to above current thinking is get a sorted, tidy, used Westy. Need/Want/Do not want lists will be pretty long based on past experience so it will no doubt be tricky. Next steps are clearing a space in my garage in case something comes up.3 points

It's a maybe from me. My stepson is in the Army Cadets, and being it's Remembrance Sunday, I may be required part of the day as "dad taxi"! He's just had his new uniform after weeks of waiting, so I'm currently having to teach him what creases go where, how to shape his beret, fix his cap badge, polish his boots etc etc.... I'm already having flashbacks of the CSM screaming in my ear 😂2 points

Meet at Tagg Lane Dairy, Bakewell, DE45 1JP, 10am. We have been today to find the toilets are back open and you can even sit inside. On the menu is cake, ice cream, cake and ice cream, panninis, toasted tea cakes, did I mention cake and ice cream? oh, cake and ice cream are on the menu. Afterwards we can go for a run on a carefully chosen route and find some normal food for lunch. Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you breakfast Peak District style. Ice cream made on the premises by Jack. He is looking forward to receiving the robots this week that will milk the Jersey cows. Weather forecast currently is good but I will update the post nearer the weekend to finalise the details. UPDATE. YES THIS IS ON. WEATHER IS STILL FORECAST GOOD. Mine is the Bakewell cake with Raspberry Ripple ice cream, what will you have?1 point

The time has come to sell my high spec road-legal, track focused, 2 Litre Duratec powered Westfield. I have owned the car for the last 4 years. Although predominantly a track car it is fully road-legal and I regularly attend the local WSCC meets. The car originally started off life with a Zetec engine. However in 2015 the previous owner took the car to Northampton Motorsport where a fully rebuilt Duratec engine was supplied and installed. Northampton motorsport also refreshed the car with a new fuel system, new cooling system, rewire with new dashboard, and a full suspension setup. They also ran in the new engine, followed by a rolling road tune where it produced 254bhp and 187lb-ft (254Nm) of torque. A large number of receipts are available for this work totalling over £13500. The car has covered just over 3000 trouble free miles with the new engine. Weighing just 545kg and running 254bhp the car is extremely quick on track. Having been setup by Troy at NMS the car is a joy to drive.. The handling is very predictable which inspires great confidence. Having owned a number of track cars this is by far the quickest and most enjoyable car I have driven on track. There is nothing quite like it. I have regularly serviced the car using only Millers Nanodrive NT+ oil every few hundred miles. The car comes with 12 months MOT unit November 2022 - No advisories on last MOT. Current engine mileage is 3050 with approximately 8600 miles on the chassis. There have been 4 previous owners. I’ve listed the specs below. As you can see no expense has been spared. Included with the car is a huge folder of receipts and history. Just PM'ed you, Terry. We had our booster jab last Sunday, so feeling relaxed about engaging in close company. Just avoiding tongues at this stage, sticking to pecks on the cheek!😀1 point

Unless it was a SEiGHT, which if I recall correctly, were only available that way, the panelled chassis with wiring and lines fitted was, and remains, a (paid) factory option for those that don't want to do the initial build phase themselves.1 point

IIRC it took me 268 hours. My kit came with ali panels fitted + front bulkhead to rear bulkhead brake pipes, fuel pipes and wiring fitted though. Not sure they do any of that now.1 point

Similar to Stuart for me, started at the end of November and ready for IVA late April. As for build hours, for me based upon my build blog it was in the region of 290 hours. I'd never done anything like build the Westi before, the build manual at the time was far from complete, it's much better now. As for ownership, use, tinkering etc. A Westi is never complete, there is always something that could be done but generally I've only had to tinker when I wanted to change things in that way once done it takes as much of your time as you want it to.1 point

With the full modular kit from Westfield (so all new parts) it took me 4.5 months. Solo and just evenings and weekends.1 point

I got my kit on October 7th last year and am currently waiting for the V5 to drop through the letter box. I work week on week off so have had lots of spare time and we had lock down etc too. I did have a couple months off in the middle also when it was freezing in the garage. Cost wise, I think it’s much better value than the caterham and certainly a better kit than the other seven kits (in my opinion). Caterham build is different to Westfield, I believe they are almost put together and you add the finishing touches. The Westfield is a box of bits. Hope it gives you a rough idea. Would I do it again, certainly… could I have done it without the help of the guys on this forum, no.. 0B9D7D91-C628-4986-AE0F-87729C2D59CC.jpeg1 point

🤣🤣🤣🤣 It has a 2litre zetec with twin 40 webers, 4 speed quaife straight cut box. The carbs needed stripping cleaning and rebuilding as it hadn't been started for a few years, but thats done now. I've replaced the windscreen as it was cracked, I debated putting an aero screen on but the stone that cracked the screen was perfect passenger face shot, so that was the perfect selling point for me! 🤣 The guy I purchased it from inherited it from his uncle but had no interest in it. It was built / completed in 1997. It was registered and motd the same year and was never used on the road again. It was built to race in some events and hill climbs but it certainly hasn't had a hard life, or was extremely well looked after. Well, this is what I was told from the owner and the paperwork I received seems to back it up. Yes I certainly plan on doing some track days in it as well as putting back on the road 👍 I'm from kettering, northamptonshire👍1 point

Actually it's "for the love of money is the root of all evil...". The point being that money itself is not evil, but the relentless and thoughtless pursuit of money is likely to be damaging to the soul. It comes from 1 Timothy chapter 6 verse 9 which begins: "Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction." The verse ends with "... for the love of money..." etc Not that I'm a God botherer but I do like to know the history and correct context of often used sayings and it is surprising how often they are misquoted, a crime for which I have in the past been just as guilty. But I digress...1 point

We had our monthly local-area meeting last night; 7pm in a local pub.... nothing unusual, I thought. Except that I was the only one to turn up in a Westfield, which led me to suggest that we should re-name our branch the 'Comfortable Saloon Car Club' in recognition of the 80% of local members who prefer a roof and stereo. However, when I got home at 10.30pm, freezing cold and driving this mud-smuggler, I thought that they might have a point:1 point
