Just another quick review for A-Plan. I previously had my Westie on a multi-car polcy with Footman James - three cars (the Westie, a daily-driver Alfa and a hugely modified turbo-nutter 480bhp monster) for just £450. However, after I sold the loony turbo car and the daily driver, Footman James still wanted £370 - go figure.... One of the issues I faced was that both of my sons have been involved in accidents (both non-fault) in the last 12 months, so I was expecting the premiums to include them to be a bit hefty. Anyway - spoke to Freya at A-Plan - she was excellent - very thorough, very patient and easy to talk to. She got the Westie down to under £180 and only about £50 more with my sons on it too. While Freya was on a roll, she quoted for my new (to me) Aston, and managed to get that down to a very reasonable figure of under £250 and only £350 with the boys included - they will be chuffed! OK - I'm up to almost £580 for two cars instead of £450 for three, but seeing as this includes the Aston and allows the boys to drive both cars, I'm pretty happy.2 points

Hi Folkes (relevant for anyone in South East Wales) was browsing the community map and say there is a couple of people in the near vicinity to me. Theres a couple others too but shown as sorns 😄 Anyway wondering if any one fancied meet up and taking a little pootle anywhere? Although my car appears to be doing 89 miles to 19ltrs of fuel so something must not be behaving itself 😅 Also quite fancy a trip to Llandow at some point this summer. Paul1 point

Hi All, I am thinking of changing class next year or possibly moving into circuit racing in formula fords, so I am putting up for sale my Westfield Sprint car. It is very well known in the sprinting community as the previous owner John Loudon developed the car very well and did great in the car both with class wins and class records on the way. similarly i have had many class wins and records in my first season of sprinting with the car, so its well proven and very adaptable as it could be used in mod prod, road going(all the spares are included in the sale to put it back to road going), or move it to circuit racing Road registered (but currently SORN) and complete with MSA competition car passport Specification below:- Chassis Strengthened and uprated 1989 narrow body SE chassis by Procomp Full Caged roll cage Wide track rose jointed front suspension with aluminium hubs Quantum double zero adjustable dampers correctly valved for car 2.2 quick steering rack HiSpec 4 pot calipers and lightweight discs Aluminium rear calipers and lightweight discs Bias floor mounted pedal box pedal box Engine Dry sumped Puma 1700 engine built and maintained by Protune running on Jenvey TBs and Emerald K6 ECU producing circa 220bhp / 150 ft/lb torque and revving freely and safely to near 9000rpm Ultralight steel flywheel with 7.25" Quarter Master clutch Piper cams Flowed head Bonnet exit exhaust into Techcraft silencer Forged pistons Steel con rods Forged steel crank Pace dry sump system Lightweight Nippon Denso alternator Transmission Elite 5 speed IL200 gearbox (Fully refreshed by Elite) Tran X plated LSD in strengthened English live axle with 4.44 crown wheel and pinion SBD flatshifter General Quick release SPA steering wheel 6 point TRS harness (driver), 4 point Willans (passenger) Tillet seats 2 sets of Force Racing split rims (one with slicks, one with wets) Avon 715 Radial slicks on the car Lightweight bodywork Lightweight fuel tank Lightweight Lithium battery to MSA spec Carbon flared engine bay side panels Lightweight radiator Carbon front wings Rear diffuser Flat floor Weight approx 465kg Spares Lots of spares included including standard spare engine, drive shafts, rear arches, engine spares, brand new front and rear hawke brake pads, engine and gearbox oil, etc. I have further invested in the car over the past couple of years as follows: Refreshed the steering rack and had a brass bush installed by historic motorsport in Exeter Car fully corner weighted by Empire Racing Cars and Triple M in 2021 Elite gearbox has been fully refreshed as follows – 2 hours running time in total since Upgraded gearbox actuator New gear finger selector – new dog rings Service and inspection Upgraded drop gear bearings Data logging system installed which is linked up to the Emerald ECU (Optional extra to be potentially included in the sale) Race Technology Dash 4 Pro linked into a DL1 Club Car has run in modified specialist production this season. in my 1st season of sprints, the results have been good with lots of 1st place class victories at Goodwood, Curborough, Blyton and Castle Coombe in the HSA, Longton MC, Bristol Motor Club champs. Regularly finished in the top 10 overall at the sprints beating a few single seaters on the way Price – £16k ono which includes all of the spares (not the data logger/dash) and more than happy to provide further pictures, video, answer any questions Happy to chat through so give me a ring on 07801706641 or peteraoconnor@gmail.com1 point

@GaryD1971 I'm just a bit down the road from you, near Tydd St Giles, so not far away. Great to know there's another Westfield owner nearby! I'll make an appointment with Tiger and let you all know how I get on. Cheers for all the helpful suggestions - I really appreciate it!1 point

The base price for just me driving was £244 and that included the usual extras such as their admin fee and legal protection. My original base price with Saga insurance was only £176 (the admin fee, protected NCB and legal cover took it to £226, but they wanted almost £700 to add my sons) I can only assume that their claims experience from Aston owners is very good.1 point

from Walpole Highway! I have used a garage in Terrington St Clement for work on mine. He seems to understand the kit car ethos. As has also been mentioned, Tiger Sports cars are very helpful too. Whereabouts are you in relation to Wisbech?1 point

I revised the spare holder and used these to tidy the holes for the two spare wheel bolts: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/plug-fixing-holes-blanking-plugs-plastic-cover-finishing-inserts-hole-cap-round-/113378193072?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Hope this helps! She got the price to what for the Aston! Wow, I'm amazed, if you'd said double that, I'd have still thought you'd got a good deal! Amazing.1 point

I'd give Tiger a call and visit them for a decent chat. If you make an appointment, take a list of things you want to know. They will be armed and ready to answer your questions!! And, as Snowy says, they are friendly people. Good luck and welcome to the club!!1 point

The core plugs under the spark plug cover are worth checking too. @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary has replaced them on his and wrote it up.1 point

Hi, Tiger Racing are based in Wisbech, have a chat with them. I've been to their open days and always seem very friendly.1 point

welcome, whilst i can't help you with finding a suitable garage near you, may i suggest you have a go yourself, if you feel out of your depth there are loads of folks here who will talk you through it. a westy really is a very easy car to work on and you can take the knowledge and apply it to production cars as well. not only will you be saving a fortune in garage charges but learning as you go. good luck anyway.1 point

A great autumnal run out today around 150 ish miles . The roads were a bit damp and skittery in places but it didn’t rain of snow lol Headed out over the Cabrach and took the old military road over to Cairn o Mount then down to Rumblin’ Bridge cafe where a lovely lunch was had , chatting to them there is 2 car parks so a group is more than welcome (phone ahead if it’s a large group) Suitably fed n watered I was in a quandary as to which way to go , but a couple of bikers pulled in and said the low cloud was gone from the summit so baa as ck tracked oer the Cairn then along Glen Tanner stopping at Ballater for fuel before coming home via Glen Sheil, Corgarf, the Lecht and up the Glen1 point

I put two small red plastic reflector lenses over mine on my old westy as I could not get any of the plastic plugs to fit as the hole was right on the curved lip of the bodywork spare wheel recess1 point
