I am delighted to hear that long time club member Ash Mason has won the Midland Hillclimb Championship this weekend at the last event of the season at Loton Park today. Ash drives a super charged Hayabusa Westfield in the modified specialist production car class and has set numerous class records this season to achieve the overall win. Well done Ash!!!4 points

I have only owned my Westfieldfor a handful of weeks and I thought it was time to share some photos of my pride and joy. It is an SE FW on a 21 plate powered by a Blacktop Zetec 2.0l engine and fuelled by an Omex 600 ECU and Omex throttlebodies. 8" wheels at the back help get the power down nad 7" ones up front keep it looking trim and nimble. I don't have the available time to have built it myself (much as I would have liked to) so I acquired it from Toybox - hats off to Andy and Dale for help, advice and service. I do plan to maintain/ service it and upgrade/ adjust/ fettle it myself although the only work I've done on it so far is replacing a couple of fuses and pop-riveting the presstud bases for the door straps! Having joined WSCC the next step is to get involved with the North Staffs and East Cheshire WSCC group as we live a few miles outside Nantwich in the fields of the Cheshire Plain. If anyone from my neck of the woods happens across this topic, please do say hello!2 points

As a trial member you're limited to functionality. It's mainly to give people a flavour of what goes on in here. Most quickly realise the benefits of our great club and pay the full membership.2 points

Everyone should pay the same* for kits unless a mistake has been made when registering. There are only two key prices, (other than six month or monthly options, and card surcharges, ) Kits are counted as PLG vehicles, with rates of: Under 1549cc £170 for twelve months Over 1549cc £280 for twelve months. And that’s it. It does get more complicated with different payment types, and for six months etc. So full table is here: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-for-cars-and-light-goods-vehicles-registered-before-1-march-20012 points

I think there’s only two tax brackets for our cars - and they have nothing to do with emissions at all (might just be a simple engine size cut off point)2 points

Ah, that takes me back! 😎 Very tidy Z! The interior and the cloth on those seats are in good shape considering the age. In hotter US climates, you had the choice of those velour ones that, when you were hot and sweaty, grabbed you like Velcro and made getting out of the car a challenge as you tried to break free; or vinyl seats that after an hour in the sun acted like a full body branding iron. 🤣2 points

Welcome from South Derbyshire. I'm a fellow Toybox owner, nice to see you bought the right colour car! 😂 You will have to come along to a Peak District meet or two, not too far from Nantwich 👍1 point

Dave, thanks for the reply. My boysare at Sandbach School so although we live the other side of the Weaver (nearChurch Minshull) we know Sandbach a little. I'll try to get across next Thursday evening; it will be good to meet more members and get involved. 😀1 point

Ian thanks - I haven'tbeen in the Golden Pheasant in Plumley for years! When do you meet there, or is it a bit more informal? I like how you've included your "work tool" on your profile. I think I'll have to declare my Disco Sport in the same bracket!1 point

Welcome! I and a few others from the Cheshire & N. Staffs area are probably not to far away from you, we're over in and around the Sandbach area. Our next meet is a week on Thursday, as Ian said, at the Golden Pheasant, Plumley, at which you'd be most welcome to join us! (7.30pm, first Thursday of the month). Lovely looking Westfield, and sounds a great spec.1 point

Thanks gents. Might be a bit of life left in the old dog. At least its good for the marque a westy has class records at Shelsley, Loton and Prescott. At some point they will fall but the club have repeatedly got these cars in the record books.1 point

Catching up on the last couple of weeks work. the extra stainless steel arrived so I was able to make the last of the fuel tank straps. I've also got most of the pedal box in and the brake lines plumbed in but I’m just waiting for a bias valve to fit the the rear circuit. the two missing gauges have now also been fitted to the new dash.1 point

ABC and ourselves arrived at a drizzly looking Hulme End Tea Junction cafe Martin and Nigel soon arrived Just in case there might be a sugar shortage in the future Glen and I decided to panic buy the cakes. The others ate a more normal breakfast sandwich but we are now used to eating cake for breakfast. We took our route along the b roads, found plenty of cow poo and went past the pretty Magpie Mine, which I can confirm is a lead mine, you wouldn't think an old lead mine would look nice would you? We briefly called in at Quackers to check the phone, on into Bakewell, huff it was busy which is why we don't go through there, but there was petrol at the pumps. I briefly lost Martin, who had a wire come loose on his fan, it was a good job Andrew spotted him. Next we drove through the Chatsworth Estate with views over the house and fountain, then up the Curbar Gap where we were glad to see that they have put double yellow lines along the road making it much safer to drive. Next we drove past the traffic queue from hell, there must have been a road closed somewhere as this is normally an empty country road and it had a queue a mile long. Thankfully we were going in the opposite direction and beautifully landed at the Bistro at Dunston Hall Garden Centre for lunch on time. Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of us in the Bistro. Andrew had a minor problem with his steering wheel and conveniently has to remove his bonnet to access the tool roll, a great V8 photo opportunity for me. They managed to tie wrap the wheel back on😱 In the meantime Nigel had us in stitches with with his stories of wet bums in Westfield seats, get that drill out! Thanks for a great day out guys, we have had easier days, less panicky days, but nobody ran out of fuel and the weather came good in the end, see you next time. P.S I have found out that the road was closed at the Golden Gates roundabout to the Robin Hood pub due to an accident. That is the main A road into the Peak District, so all that traffic was shoved onto the b road, so glad we were coming out of the Peak District.1 point
