Hello and greetings from Norway! Im planing to do a build in around 2 years time when i saved up the capital to justify it. Been wanting to do a build now for close to 15 years but a disorder that holds me from steady job and income makes it challenging. The Westfield FW has been on my mind since i saw it first time and now is the time to start mapping out the build. Westfield now offers a complete kit with a zetec engine, the zetec isn't appealing to me much tho. I aether want a newer engine design or source an engine thats more common in norway or sweeden. The duratec Volvo T5 comes to mind alongside some Saab and Opel engines. Im pretty thorn between going the safe route or taking the chance on something that could be to challenging. Its probably best to read trough the build logs to get both inspiration and a feeling of what's realistically possible. Im happy for any advice and guidance i can get! Best regards Snurt4 points

My first track experience was a success. I had no car issues and even more surprisingly...... No driver issues either. Big Thanks to@Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO for organising the event and letting a newbie like me attend. Also thanks to @NigelO for the pictures (the first lineup picture is my dodgy work)4 points

I am delighted to hear that long time club member Ash Mason has won the Midland Hillclimb Championship this weekend at the last event of the season at Loton Park today. Ash drives a super charged Hayabusa Westfield in the modified specialist production car class and has set numerous class records this season to achieve the overall win. Well done Ash!!!3 points

Don’t do it.... Sealing the loft can in itself create other condensation problems unless the void between the existing felt and the foam is well insulated. I don’t know the BASF system specifically but some insurers and mortgage lenders won’t cover certain spray foam insulation’s and for good reasons. I’ve overseen the removal of two roofs because the owners couldn’t get a mortgage with it fitted. because of the difficulties of stripping it out it necessitated removing the entire roof, not just the tiles and felt but replacing the rafters as well. if you do decide to go for it, get some proper independent advice, do plenty of research and don’t be rushed or sucked in to the marketing. IMO if the loft is already well insulated with a minimum of 270mm mineral wool and the loft hatch is insulated then I’d look elsewhere. start with windows and doors, ensuring they seal well. Modern double glazing is twice as efficient as that which was being fitted 15years ago. Things like the reveals are often missed as well and a surprising amount of heat is lost around the edge of the frames. floors are another area and if suspended timber then easy to insulate between the joists with 100mm PIR insulation. finally think about the age of the boiler and your hot water storage, 25-30years ago these were only 65% efficient but a modern replacement boiler with an invented cylinder would be close to 95%.2 points

It's looking good, and about as safe in a side impact as an XI! For the wiring, do you need any lights at all? Would it be worth allowing for a rain light or something like it?1 point

Catching up on the last couple of weeks work. the extra stainless steel arrived so I was able to make the last of the fuel tank straps. I've also got most of the pedal box in and the brake lines plumbed in but I’m just waiting for a bias valve to fit the the rear circuit. the two missing gauges have now also been fitted to the new dash.1 point

Those mini lites are perfect for brg and dark colour Westfields. Love the gold. I fitted them to my first Westfield but all silver and no polished rims. Much prefer your dads setup. Andy1 point

Just as clarification to those who were not there…. The technical hitch with the Westfield IVA steering wheel was that the bit you hold to control the car is held onto the rest of the wheel with three Ali pop rivets. When they break you are left holding a useless round thing whilst the car goes wherever it wants. Tie wraps sufficed for the short trip to Glen and Julie’s useful garage where Glen installed stainless steel nuts and bolts. Check yours to save steering embarrassment and thanks to the Peak District engineering department for the proper fix.1 point

Had a little run in the V8 today and it’s like Jekyll and Hyde, can drive it’s smoothly and sensibly but when you plant the throttle it definitely tries to bite you😂😂1 point

A few still photos from today's Curborough meeting. I think I've got everyone, but let me know if you're missing and I'll see if I have any images. Rather than post phots and use up my image allowance, here's a link to my Westfields Flickr album. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmWAdNNj Feel free to download for safekeeping Also managed to put together a brief video from the drone footage1 point
