  9. Had llandow on Saturday. I dressed for the heavy rain forecast but left Bristol dry. Got to Cardif and I have never ever got so wet in the car. I was sat in about an inch of water when I got to the track. Opened my visor to help visibility for a second as a van went through a puddle. Went in my eyes 😁 you have to laugh or you'll cry. Anyways cleared up by 11 and it was great. A good day!

  11. Yesterday, I spent most of the day attempting to talk with an elderly relative with the condition, and I was stunned that in just two weeks how much this has advanced. I had to ring him many times as he kept pressing buttons and hanging up on me. He was once a surveyor at BR back in the day, and went on to have his own estate agency, talking yesterday with him was like talking to a 5 year old. A dreadful, cruel and awful thing for someone to endure. During what was a 34 min phone call , I got about 40 secs of what I considered intelligent conversation, the rest of the time being asked who has 'moved' all the buttons on his phone ( they hadn't moved he had forgotten what the icons mean on each key). A further call to his daughters revealed that this is standard behaviour these days. I watched a fair few YT vids last night, one was quite helpful on how to talk to someone with the condition , so I will try some of those suggestions. Don't know why I posted this really , other than to say I feel for both the sufferer and the families dealing with it.

  13. Appreciate that John, helping lessen the load is why I got involved to start with, my cousins are his only children, and they are now grown, married have their own families and work as well, so anything I could do - even for just moral support , was worth it as far I saw it. As it happens my Uncle still is able to identify voices over the phone, it's just the interpretation of the words he hears he struggles with.

  14. Richard, This is a situation that many find themselves, towards later years. I will not advise, but just speak from experience. Family is foremost, helping each other to cope, lightening the load. I had a conversation with my mother in law, afterwards she asked her husband, who was that? Distressing and frightening. best wishes, John.

  17. You need to get specialist advice on this now. Look at the various charities as they will know what he is entitled to, particularly the various mental health ones. As he is in care, the cost falls on the family at the moment, if he is medically assessed then it is met by the state and trust me the costs of care especially if it is in a secure home, is going to drain what ever funds he has quite quickly. We found age concern were good. Also if he is ex forces they have excellent support networks for such occasions. I feel your pain as it is a difficult situation to be in, but remember it is for his own good but do not neglect your mental well being and health. Know when to walk away for a bit as it is draining, heart breaking and guilt ridden. For me wishing the end still hurts to think about now and my Dad's situation was nothing like what you have with your uncle.

  18. Only plus side of the TV episode and being classed as violent was his care was free after that point. Maybe something to look into what classes as free care. This was 10 years ago so maybe things have changed.

  20. Just trying to work out the level of fallout if I have Saturday at Stoneleigh AND Sunday in the peaks. I foresee a bank holiday monday of household chores. However, I've missed so many Peak District runs this year that I think the price is probably worth paying - put me down as a strong possibility

  34. Not with Westfield's and Caterhams now, opentrack are only concerned about dubious home built kits, so we're alright on that score.
