Nice little, late notice meet up for breakfast at the Cafe by the Marina in Barton. Great to meet Dale (recent Toybox owner) and Julian (who's car is in bits being upgraded so came in the tiptop for a chat) for the first time, hopefully we'll see you out again soon gents👍 Once drinks and breakfast were finished, we had a short blat through the lanes to Blithfield Reservoir for the obligatory photos by the water. The clutch held up, nothing fell off any of the cars and the weather was kind! 😂4 points

A nice day out in the cars, although the rain did seem to follow us around for most of the day! We stopped for breakfast at Chocks Away in Hawarden, then taking the B4391, a fabulous road, where we were held up by a Mclaren and a Porsche 911 🙄 to Lake Vyrnwy where most of us had an ice cream at Artisans. Thanks to Mark, Steve, Farmer John, Doug, Dave S and John D for coming. Nick.2 points

Sorry about that. If it's any consolation, I was hating myself as I posted it 😁2 points

SOLD SOLD SOLD The time has come to sell my Westfield SEIW kit car, I built the car in 2003 from a starter kit using donor parts for an age-related plate (G reg). I originally built is using a C20XE red top with 45’s then changed to a C20LET for more power, a mate who’s an engineer helped me with the conversion and made the necessary custom parts to fit. I took it to AutoMark in Stokesley to get a remappable chip fitted and tuned, the car has been dyno’d at 260bhp. The head was ported and flowed by CAS Engineering in Northallerton, ARP bolts were fitted when fitting the lowered Westfield alloy sump. The gearbox is standard Ford Type 9 with Westfield bellhousing to fit the Vauxhall engine. The rear diff is a Sierra Cosworth LSD 3.6. The car has been garaged all it’s life, since having kids and building a house over the last 4 years I’ve barely used it. I’ve only covered 600-700 miles since 2014 and it’s currently 6749 miles since built. I spent nearly £3K in 2016 on new Compomotive 13” CXR’s with Toyo R888r’s, full roll cage and carbon Tillett seats. I have a huge folder of receipts from day one and loads of photo’s the build and it’s life. I'm looking for £12000 Mileage is 6749 MOT’d 22/05/21 The spec is as followed: Westfield SEiW 2003 Starter Kit Vauxhall C20LET Custom 4 core Pace Charge Cooler Pre Rad and Pump Westfield Radiator for 2.0 Vauxhall Ford Type 9 Gearbox Ford Sierra Cosworth LSD Diff 3.6 Custom made by JP Exhausts Front CAT Motorsport 4 pot callipers Rear Sierra callipers Westfield Alloy Front Uprights Westfield Anti-Roll Bars Front and Rear Full Playskool Motorsport Roll Cage Tillett Carbon B6 Seats with Playskool 4 point harnesses 13” Compomotive CXR wheels 7” wide ET18 with Toyo R888r’s Detachable rear arches with fiberglass carbon rear guards Westfield OHC V8 Shocks and Springs Playskool Motorsport suspension setup and corner weighted Odyssey racing battery mounted above the Diff Removable Sparco steering wheel Westfield flat vinyl dash Lots of other stuff so ask questions if you have any.1 point

I think the reality is that most track day operators need to make everyone wear a suit. There can be no argument over home built vs factory built then. We have all seen photos of factory built exotics that have burst into flames on the public road. We have all seen the pictures of home built stuff bursting into flames too. The reality is that any car put on a track is being stressed and that always leads to incidents of mechanical failure one of which is the fuel systems. Regarding fuel lines and home built. I really think that with more people with no spanner time having a go at building we should at least make sure any advice on this forum regarding fuel systems comes from experienced people.1 point

I used some small stainless steel cabinet hinges for glass doors from a company called Hafele, I've just looked on their website and they don't seem to do them anymore. They have been there a very long time now, this is on my old car that was written off in 2008, they are now on my current car and have been on some quite long continental tours, without any issues. Front view Close up Rear view Close up Oh and err I think they might fold back once you are moving, very helpful when going over speed humps This may give you some inspiration to look outside the box for something off the shelf that can be adapted.1 point

I think most of the family thought I’d have wrapped around a tree within a few months. My dad’s friend put a throttle stop on it when I first got it to limit the performance a bit, I’d soon taken it off. It’s a great connection with my dad. My two children are very interested in the car too so the hope is they can share it when they are old enough.1 point

@powell love the story of inheritance with your car, it’s great when these cars stay in a family an are passed on.1 point
