130 mile blatt south today taking the scenic route, Wayne and Gwen went solo setting off early to go visit relatives in route , the rest of us set off with grey skies and damp on roads but by the time we arrived in Ponferrada it was sunny and the outside temp was 39 degrees C 🥵 the cars coped but we struggled (except the Pandas in the airconed BM. Going faster in the westy didn’t help cool me down as the wind coming around the side of the wind deflectors was like a hot hair dryer burning my eyes, anyway the ice cold Heineken at the hotel was worth it 😄2 points

Exactly, but said trackday operator ain't going to cut his nose off to spite his face by enforcing the same rule on a bigger chunk of his customers. Which makes a farce of the whole 'its for safety' argument. Especially seeing the state of some of the 'track prepared' cars out there. I believe its also no coincidence that I believe the particular TDO hires out a (factory built) caterham that the hirers do not require a suit.2 points

Yes we are quite lucky - from here it’s an easy hop to Teesdale, the Lakes and the Borders with lots of nice roads in between.2 points

SOLD SOLD SOLD The time has come to sell my Westfield SEIW kit car, I built the car in 2003 from a starter kit using donor parts for an age-related plate (G reg). I originally built is using a C20XE red top with 45’s then changed to a C20LET for more power, a mate who’s an engineer helped me with the conversion and made the necessary custom parts to fit. I took it to AutoMark in Stokesley to get a remappable chip fitted and tuned, the car has been dyno’d at 260bhp. The head was ported and flowed by CAS Engineering in Northallerton, ARP bolts were fitted when fitting the lowered Westfield alloy sump. The gearbox is standard Ford Type 9 with Westfield bellhousing to fit the Vauxhall engine. The rear diff is a Sierra Cosworth LSD 3.6. The car has been garaged all it’s life, since having kids and building a house over the last 4 years I’ve barely used it. I’ve only covered 600-700 miles since 2014 and it’s currently 6749 miles since built. I spent nearly £3K in 2016 on new Compomotive 13” CXR’s with Toyo R888r’s, full roll cage and carbon Tillett seats. I have a huge folder of receipts from day one and loads of photo’s the build and it’s life. I'm looking for £12000 Mileage is 6749 MOT’d 22/05/21 The spec is as followed: Westfield SEiW 2003 Starter Kit Vauxhall C20LET Custom 4 core Pace Charge Cooler Pre Rad and Pump Westfield Radiator for 2.0 Vauxhall Ford Type 9 Gearbox Ford Sierra Cosworth LSD Diff 3.6 Custom made by JP Exhausts Front CAT Motorsport 4 pot callipers Rear Sierra callipers Westfield Alloy Front Uprights Westfield Anti-Roll Bars Front and Rear Full Playskool Motorsport Roll Cage Tillett Carbon B6 Seats with Playskool 4 point harnesses 13” Compomotive CXR wheels 7” wide ET18 with Toyo R888r’s Detachable rear arches with fiberglass carbon rear guards Westfield OHC V8 Shocks and Springs Playskool Motorsport suspension setup and corner weighted Odyssey racing battery mounted above the Diff Removable Sparco steering wheel Westfield flat vinyl dash Lots of other stuff so ask questions if you have any.1 point

Absolutely. And I've seen what I'd call dangerously bodged cars that have somehow made it through IVA.1 point

Like the Cocteau Twins one, I had thought 50 may have been Paul Simon 😄. Ignore the 12,1 point

Yes it’s an extra expense but a set of flame retardant overalls can be bought for £30 and you can wear them in the garage too.1 point

I currently have an two track cars - an MX5 and a tuned Westfield. The MX5 is 90% of the fun at 10% of the cost. If it were me, I’d get an MX5 now and wait until you have a garage for the Westfield.1 point

Well some of us got there, just 6 days late! In our defence, it was raining last week 😂 We had a good turnout for a last minute meet (3 Westies, a MEV and an MNR) with a couple of the normal mishaps.... Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of Ben's MNR as he was upside down in the footwell fixing a smoking electrical problem! Luckily as things often fall off my car, I had the trusty WSCC tool wrap (thanks Glen and @Julie Hall - Joint Peak District AO).1 point
