  1. The weather forecasters were correct for once, well almost loads of rain but no lightning. We all made it to knutsford start point except temper terry who was stuck on M6 further north, so we all did a top gear special and set off without him. He caught up eventually but we didn’t hear a squeak out of him, think he had his radio on channel 2 not 6 πŸ˜† Just arrived at first hotel.. soggy!

  2. Only a wee bit rain here n there on the way south to the Kames show, so decided to take some of my favourite wee roads. Got to Dalwhinnie with out the dreaded A9 then hopped onto it over Drumochter then right and out over Trinafour moor to Killin and onto Stirling. Took a wee detour up to Ben Lawers dam as well. I got a quad lock bike mount and modded it a little bit to give me a dash mount for the phone so tried a few things with video . A few limitations when it rains as it tries to focus on the rain drops on the screen. And I got the vibration damper so will see if that helps things. Anyway I hope there’s enough for you to enjoy. Oh I found a cake stop too πŸ˜ƒ

  4. Just bought a Triumph Thruxton R, 2 years old with 6miles on clock, Poor guy that bought it brand new had it delivered and had severe back issues and never got the chance to even do a quick burl round the block, Dealership bought it back, Ive always liked the look of these, A few month ago my dad (75 years old) bought a 2014 Bonneville and after a quick blast i just couldnt resist, Handling way exceeded my expectations, Was a spur of the moment buy and im well happy, Ive only done around 100miles but luv the thing, Mods started already πŸ˜€ Think this ones going to be a keeper, Anyone on here have or had one?

  6. I've always loved the look of these. Here's one I took a photo of at the Ace Cafe in London. It's a Thruxton 904 Special that I assume is very similar. It has a digital dash which somehow suites it:

  8. Notoriously one of the most difficult kits to build, but one of the strongest kits once built. The chassis is particularly robust. The car has no squeaks or rattles. Just over 600 miles covered in the car, this may continue to rise until sold. Registration Details:- IVA passed 25/03/21. Correctly registered 1st April 2021 First MOT is not due until 31/03/2024 Age related registration number so cherished registration number can be transferred onto the car. Mechanical/Running Gear Details:- Fully rebuilt Rover SD1 3.5 litre V8 engine. The engine was completely stripped, rebored and crankshaft crack tested. Upon rebuild the engine was fully balanced. Edelbrock chrome rocker covers. Rover SD1 LT77 gearbox. This has also been stripped, inspected, refreshed and rebuilt. Brand new Borg Warner clutch. FiTech fuel injection system on an Edelbrock Performer 351 intake manifold. The FiTech is fully mappable and comes complete with the handheld plug on programmer. The car starts on the button every time. Edelbrock Pro-Flow 1000 bug eye high flow air cleaner/filter. 123 Ignition mappable distributor. These distributors are produced with respect for the classic design and character of the car. Despite the classic appearance, the ignition contains the most modern electronics. This will guarantee a powerful spark with perfect timing. Jaguar XJS suspension to front and rear with all new seals and bearings. All painted with POR15 UV resistant chassis topcoat. Gaz coilover shocks/springs all round including double shocks at the rear. Jaguar Powerlock diff with a 3.54 ratio. The diff has been fully rebuilt with all new bearings and seals. It has also been derated to suit the lighter weight of the car. Jaguar XJS brake calipers all round. Rear brakes are inboard. The calipers have been fully stripped and rebuilt with new seals and zinc coated. XJS drop down handbrake lever inside drivers door giving a nice clean uncluttered tunnel top. Alloy fuel swirl/surge pot fitted close to the fuel tank. The swirl pot is fed by a low pressure pump and the engine is then fed by a Bosch 044 style high pressure pump. Fuel system hoses are SAE J30 E9 injection standard. High capacity 3 core alloy radiator. The car sits rock steady at 80c when moving. Temps will rise to just over 90c when in heavy traffic or standing at which point the high flow Spal Axial fan kicks in. Lightweight lithium battery fitted in the engine bay. Fully refurbished Halibrand replica 15” wheels complete with chromed spinners. Galaxy R1 Radial G/T 215/60 brand new tyres on the front wheels. Galaxy R1 Radial G/T 235/60 brand new tyres on the rear wheels. Twin pipe underslung stainless exhaust system which sounds lovely. Measured at 98.5 dBA during the IVA test. After it’s first 500 miles the engine oil and filter were changed. Interior:- During the build the rear of the cockpit area was modified to provide 80mm of additional legroom. I am 6’3” and fit the car well with decent legroom. Other manufacturers cars I have sat in I would not have been able to drive due to less legroom, so this car definitely suits a taller driver. Fully carpeted with rot resistant carpet. High quality leather used for dashboard covering. The seats are grp shells that have been padded and covered with the same leather. Custom built tunnel top/sides which is removable. This is also covered in the same leather. All leatherwork was done by a very reputable local trimmer ETB instruments chrome trimmed with black faces. LED dashboard working lights. Corsa C electric power steering column and stalks. 12V and USB charging outlet points. Electric heated seats to base and rear pads. Heater serving windscreen and footwell. Brasscraft windscreen complete with wind wings and sun visors. Willans harnesses. 13” wooden 3 spoke steering wheel. Cobra style cranked gear lever. Bespoke wiring loom. Exterior/Bodywork:- GRP body has taken many hours of fettling during the build to achieve a smooth finish. Body has been primed and lacquered in 2K. Colour is Subaru C1F and looks stunning. You won’t see another Cobra in this colour unless someone has already copied me! Everyone who sees the car comments on how nice the colour is. Polished stainless front wing engine bay vents. Gas struts to bonnet and boot panels. Le Mans style Aston Filler Cap. Boot fully carpeted. P700 headlights. LED front indicators. LED side repeaters. LED Spiyda designs coffin rear lights. Combined LED fog and reverse lamp. LED chrome number plate light. Polished stainless number plate holder complete with Cobra lettering. Why am I selling? I enjoy the build and engineering challenges as much as driving the car once complete. This is the 3rd car I have built and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am finding myself looking for things to do so it is time for me to take my next project on. Folder full of receipts included. Full photographic record of the build can be provided on a USB memory stick if wanted. I have approx 3 litres of paint left from the spray job which will be included. CAR NOW SOLD

  12. Great to see you didn't get flooded out. How do wind deflectors and half roof compare to full doors and 1/2 roof, always been too chicken to test that 🀣. ETA with respect to rain. Oh and I see your number plate fell off again, I hate it when that happens πŸ˜‰

  16. I'm in the "bought not built" brigade and don't regret buying a (well I'm on my second now!) built car. When I have the time and space I would love to build one to my specification. Buying a built car doesn't stop you building in the future, they hold their value well (so limited risk financially) and you will definitely know your way around one within a year or two.... for example, I've just had the engine out of mine which involved a full strip down of the entire engine bay and most of the interior πŸ‘

  17. I would love another bike, but given how I get treated in the Westy I really don't think I would last long if I did.

  20. Having just read this it is sad that you are leaving especially after it being forced upon you somewhat. The key thing is that you walked away from the accident cars and pride can be fixed or replaced. A car I finished and sold to a young guy who was the first registered owner, was written off after just 10 days, not his fault, but his confidence was gone after that in a car so vulnerable. If that is how you feel, get out in one again with a mate but if it is just that itch has gone then take time to decide what you want as knee jerk decisions always are the wrong ones. remember you do not have to own a Westfield to be a member and friends will welcome you whatever you dirve. All the best whatever you chose

  21. Here is our Spanish route.. 5 stop overs varying from 1 night to 3 nights each. Distance not that great at less than 1000 miles but plenty of places to explore in between 😎

  22. T minus 48 hours to kick off.. We have had a few WhatsApp calls to organise things, Covid requirements and restrictions have been the obvious things to keep an eye on, but all adults are double jabbed, kids are getting tested prior to departure, Spain is allowing us in so all is good.... .. apart from the first hotel TerryTemper has booked has ceased to exist and I've just twisted my knee, ouch First leg is UK, all meet at Knutsford services M6 blat down to Bath for an overnight spanner check then shoot down to Plymouth for the Sunday afternoon ferry to Santander 😎

  23. Went to the local estuary before, testing car stuff, so out with the ( rubbish) camera. Yeah I know the roof is up, but was raining the last time I took it out and couldn't be faffed for a 20 min test πŸ˜„, forgot it was school hols DOH. The photo doesn't do this view any favours at all, but nice over over to Knott End way .

  24. Im sure Luke @Plays-Kool will be around soon to explain what is going on. We can't keep speculating. Luke is been allways bang on with the comunity, so, let's wait till he comes around. None of the comments I have seen in facebook make justice to the situation... but FB is FB. Lets be patient here. Don't forget that this company has allways been deeply tied to WSCC, so they deserve at least this.
