@CraigHew I am very sorry to hear of your accident and very glad to hear that you are ok. You clearly enjoyed your car and regularly used it, plus it was a joy to see all the lovely photo's that you shared with us. You will leave quite a hole on this forum that perhaps you never realised as someone clicking a 'like' doesn't get that message across. I wish you well in scratching your itch (in private of course) but I am sure the thrill of driving a Westfield will bring you back and if not, how can you leave the kind of banter behind that precedes my message, it's classic!😄 I must leave now as I need to devise a competition that gives the prize of free membership to anyone that has written their Westfield off recently. All the best, Lots of love from Glen and Julie xxxxxxxxxx2 points

Having left a sunny Chesterfield we arrived at The Bull in drizzle. Billy was offering a warm, dry seat to the highest bidder! So it was inside for breakfast First stop was Longstone Edge for a photo shoot. We lost the drizzle by the time we neared Bakewell, I took the correct right turn this time and avoided the town centre! It was dry for the rest of the day, yippee. The views as you travel along up there are wide and wonderful with all the hills in their summer coat and a mixture of shade and sun highlighting them beautifully. Next we took the back roads into Castleton. Then we did a run up the Winnats Pass, of which is never going to be clear on a Sunday in August. Still, the views are stunning and more so when you drop down Mam Nick. Mam Nick looking backwards, but forwards you get views over Kinder Scout. We arrived at the Rambler Inn just in time for a pie and a pint Poor Andrew, Glen shifted Andrew's coke and put his pint there just in time for the click of the camera, naughty Parked at the Rambler Inn Sat on the heated decking area, oh the luxury. We seem to be short of cake on this outing, so that problem was soon fixed by a trip to Massarella's in Rowsley. Parked in Rowsley Now we can't have a meet without a bonnet coming off can we. This is Glynn's Mazda engine without a supercharger😉 To finish off the kind and lovely Becky leaves us with a gingerbread biscuit (we have recently been to Grasmere in the Lake District which is famous for it's gingerbread) and they are dressed in their swimsuits, which is a hot topic at the moment. Now swimsuits are like sports cars, one is not enough, so a girl is allowed to buy two. When another box of swimwear arrived last week at the pool Glen offered the lifeguard £20 to hide it from me, he said it is cheaper that way 😄 It's been a fun day, even though Andrew deprived me of black pudding, I will forgive him eventually, thanks for coming everyone. The driving and the roads have been great, hope to see you all again next time xxx2 points

You could use the flag/UK badge on the number plate, or have a temporary UK sticker on the back and retain the GB badge.1 point

I am glad you posted that particular track, as that's one of the ones that comes through my walls for free, nice to hear the full range of frequencies for a change and not just the bass. I quite like it too 😁1 point

The last time I was on it was 2018 and it was better than it was then. I think parts have been resurfaced and others patched up.1 point

Will need to be replaced with a UK badge from next month. Also be aware of the new ULEZ (or equivalents) that are taking over Europe, you should be ok if you're just heading to Le Mans but if you want to visit some cities on the way you might find the Westy isn't welcome.1 point

My last one a coule of years ago took about 3 weeks. Do the forms and photos and then take them to the Post Office. They'll check them and send them to the Passport Office. It seems to smooth the whole process and makes life easier.1 point

Sorry I missed it, although with no weather gear I think it would have been unpleasant at first The clay shoot was damp but very enjoyable, although it lacked cake. See you next time if I'm not in Wales. Luke.1 point

I second the Channel Tunnel, its great for our cars. The tunnel team keep an eye out for them and put low cars on the bottom deck. Never had any grounding issues, but I did on the only time I took the previous Westie (Mazda SDV) on a ferry (Portsmouth-Caen). It grounded badly on the ramp up to the ferry. If you want to travel French motorways I recommend a Sanef Enovis tag to get you through the tolls just by waving the tag on approach. Saves a lot of hassle trying to pay at the tolls in RHD cars like ours, and even with passengers if the hood is up and/or they are wearing non-inertia belts.1 point

Just had a chat with a chap who has an aero race westy, he will be joining us at the show. Now this westy is for partially sighted motorsport !! Fitted with dual everything so that a fully sighted “passenger” can coach / guide the partially sighted driver and take control in an emergency . something a little different so come along have a look and chat with Alex.1 point

I've heard that consuming large amounts of beer helps to neutralise the nano bots. I haven't seen a great deal of research in to this becasue the illuminati wouldn't want to create the "solution" to their deep-state funded population experiment, but as self medication goes, I've done worse...1 point

Just a quick post to say goodbye to fellow WSCC members... My pride and joy was written off a couple of weeks ago by a momentary lack in concentration resulting in my first accident is 43 years of driving. Markerstudy were superb in handling my claim and I was extremely happy (well: as happy as I could be within the circumstances) with the result. I've decided to step back from ownership for a few months to see how I feel. The temptation was to dive straight back in and buy another car - there were a couple worthy of a look - but there are a few other itches I'd like to scratch while I can. It's quite sobering to admit that the road ahead is much shorter than the one behind, but that's life for all of us, I'm certainly not complaining. So, I'm going to let my membership lapse in a few days time. Thanks for a wonderful seven years, the community here and camaraderie within the wider club will leave a big hole. I've enjoyed the banter on the forums and appreciated the technical help & support in times of need. I'll leave with the first and last photo's I took of my car, with >20,000 glorious miles, smiles and memories in between them. Drive safe, Craig.0 points
