  2. Update as promised in my original post. My car IS working, so that is good news. It's not perfect and nothing is straight forward is it. We have fitted a new gasket on the inlet manifold today and that makes it idle better, it was suspected to have an air leak. Also the throttle bodies have had new O rings. The fuel pipe to the pressure relief valve is not happy but is ok, so tomorrow we are off to Euro Car Parts and will fit a new piece of pipe, hopefully that will fix it. The clamp doesn't seem to want to clamp. The garage smells lovely😃 My intended route on the Cat and Fiddle road has been resurfaced, so I will come up with a different route, did I say nothing is straight forward. See you all on Sunday, monumentus pieces of cake will be consumed, no onions will be harmed.

  4. The good news is the chassis is back again after close to 25 hours of welding we’re fairly confident that every last hole and crack has been filled and welded. there were a few surprises along the way. This small tube was one of the worst by far for rust and in the end the only one that was cut out and replaced. But what surprised us most was what we found inside it once removed. Yes someone has tried to hide all the holes with body filler ! I need to phone the powdercoaters to see how busy they are but I’m hoping to get it into paint sometime in the next couple of weeks.

  7. Just me and my nephew today for the parade lap, but we did it properly and stopped in pole position to spin our wheels and lay a teeny bit of rubber on the track. The Silverstone Classic is a great day out, there’s loads to see and do, and watching the wheel to wheel racing of such special historic cars is fabulous. As usual the mini racing was epic. We walked around the paddock and garages, listening to the racket of thunderous engines and smelling the half burnt fuel. bl**** marvelous! A good friend of mine is very fortunate to have an e-type racing tomorrow, no 221 in the e-type challenge. Has qualified on 3rd position on the grid so I plan on watching online and cheering it on. His car came first - some superb driving by Ben Mitchell in a very wet race!

  8. Located on the Wirral at Clatterbridge, the show is always popular and well attended. There will be a Club stand, no pass required, just be there before 10.30, Sunday 8th August. Let me know if you can attend.

  9. I do not have a working car at the moment but I expect that to change tomorrow and will update this accordingly, just so you know. The weather is currently forecast as ok, so shall we start planning? Meet at The Bull I Thorn Cafe, Buxton, SK17 9QQ, 10am, we will eat and tyre kick before taking to the twisty tarmac in search of cake. A full range of breakfast food is on the menu as well as cakes at the Bull I Thorn. Anyone joining us?

  15. Welcome @Boftus . Just drive it for the rest of the warm weather then upgrade it in the winter, that’s what most of us do.

  20. I’ve decided not to buy the megabusa in the end. There were many reasons for my decision but I am keeping the Duratec as it’s a lovely example and I really like it.

  22. With not much else happening in the garage right now while I wait for the welding on the chassis to be completed I’ve made a start on a few engine jobs getting it loosely built up.

  23. This is the drive I did today. pretty much every road is amazing. Lots of views of Snowdon. https://goo.gl/maps/G4u7teahc6hvcUqRA There are some great sights and stops on this route mostly the mach loop for driving a wooden toll bridge and a lake. https://goo.gl/maps/j4sNo2rDCMrgb9iu9 If you want to venture a bit further south Elan Valley is fantastic for driving and also I'm sure there is lots to do there. https://goo.gl/maps/RBrmLKN7EinBnYTk6 Some pics from all the locations for motivation

  24. Yesterday I put 2 pieces of salmon under the grill . 1 piece for tea the other for next day . took the one piece out and served it up with salad , happily tucked into my meal sat in the dining room and thought I could smell something burning like someone was having a barby outside and the fumes were drifting into the house . When I went back into the kitchen with the empty dish discovered the other peice of salmon on fire and happily burning away . everywhere covered in black soot and kitchen full of smoke , took about 2 hours to clean the mess up before HID came home .

  25. I won't be joining you tomorrow I'm afraid. I've done the clutch change (and found the problem!) and have the engine back in but I've run out of time to get her all back together. Have fun, look forward to seeing the photos!!!!
