When you have your daughter as passenger and know the wrath of her mother I had to pull every last bit of skill out the bag to avoid a 'difficult conversation', had it gone a bit wrong....😂2 points

out of gooseneck down to Mansfield, Andy was at the front of the train as well, so everyone did very well to get out the power, held very well by Andy and he carried on2 points

if it’s the usual Westfield supplied one, as used on cars from at least the early 2000’s on. You can get lots of spares direct from the makers, Newtons (I’ve had spare keys etc from them before now.) They’re not a budget manufacturer it’s true, but they’ve always been really helpful when I’ve dealt with them.2 points

I think I would do the same as @Trevturtle suggests. However I do have this one which is the nearside bracket, it is slightly bent due to a mudflap incident last year, I did straighten it and looks ok on the car but by that time I had already decided to go for swept wings, so this is surplus. Free + postage let me know as I have a package already needing posting to a member today. Richard2 points

The Stoneleigh show is the 28th and 29th August. After last year’s show was cancelled, this is an opportunity to get together, meet old friends and enjoy the best kit car show in the country. Our stand will be as good as ever, with some slight changes. Our marquee supplier has gone out of business, so we will have a smaller, more affordable marquee. Tea and coffee and cake will still be provided, but no hog roast this year. Overnight camping is available as always. Westfield Sports Cars will have a stand in one of the halls, always good to have a chat with the factory and they usually bring along parts at discounted prices, just as a temptation. So the date for your diary is 28th and 29th August, see you there. John.1 point

I do not have a working car at the moment but I expect that to change tomorrow and will update this accordingly, just so you know. The weather is currently forecast as ok, so shall we start planning? Meet at The Bull I Thorn Cafe, Buxton, SK17 9QQ, 10am, we will eat and tyre kick before taking to the twisty tarmac in search of cake. A full range of breakfast food is on the menu as well as cakes at the Bull I Thorn. Anyone joining us?1 point

@Andy - a15cro if you try and get the track overlay I’ll bet it won’t be accurate when using the Hero 9 Media Mod. I’ll post some pics tomorrow to illustrate it, but without the Media Mod I got proper telemetry data. But with it, the telemetry was all over the shop. I’m going to bin it and either buy a mic adapter or use one of those foam covers - or maybe stick a “dead cat” over each of the mics.1 point

Update as promised in my original post. My car IS working, so that is good news. It's not perfect and nothing is straight forward is it. We have fitted a new gasket on the inlet manifold today and that makes it idle better, it was suspected to have an air leak. Also the throttle bodies have had new O rings. The fuel pipe to the pressure relief valve is not happy but is ok, so tomorrow we are off to Euro Car Parts and will fit a new piece of pipe, hopefully that will fix it. The clamp doesn't seem to want to clamp. The garage smells lovely😃 My intended route on the Cat and Fiddle road has been resurfaced, so I will come up with a different route, did I say nothing is straight forward. See you all on Sunday, monumentus pieces of cake will be consumed, no onions will be harmed.1 point

I think Chris has well and truly chucked his sundial in the skip as he has definitely moved up a gear or two and made it redundant.1 point

And believe it or not if local trip then sometimes you can get a deal going into the starting station and actually talking to a human being being the desk! Just like the old days..1 point

Was just doing that when it ventured out, its perched on the edge of the brick surround now, the dogs water bowl is a foot away from it, its eyeing the doorway which is good. I think its just stunned itself, as its quite timid really.1 point

LOL, never been good with birds, this is the second bird to have done that in as many years, need something on the stack to stop that now. I have opened the back door and windows, and closed off its exit to anywhere else, if it's still there in a hour I willl get something to cover it with as you say. Thanks.1 point

Aero 300 does seem to ring a bell. I can’t measure mine just yet, but will have a look later this evening when I get home, if it helps.1 point

Trainline have an email alert system that lets you know when the cheap tickets become available. Then book with someone who doesn't charge a booking fee and/or postage. All train operators sell tickets for all train operators and I use First Great Western (haven't booked any for a while though)1 point

@LukeWI'm camping at Kingsbury water park Sunday to Wednesday. If you can find a local welder... drop it off and I'll weld it when I get back home and post it back.1 point

Depends upon the journey, if a straight forward, single provider I tend to go direct, but I'll also look on Trainline. One of the benefits of the direct booking is that you may be able to choose your seats rather just accepting what's allocated. I do visit London frequently so can choose a seat closer to the exit at the destination station.1 point

Weld a short piece of solid bar inside the tube at the fracture point.. otherwise it'll probably break again (I know from experience)1 point

Just had a chat with a chap who has an aero race westy, he will be joining us at the show. Now this westy is for partially sighted motorsport !! Fitted with dual everything so that a fully sighted “passenger” can coach / guide the partially sighted driver and take control in an emergency . something a little different so come along have a look and chat with Alex.1 point

I’ve decided not to buy the megabusa in the end. There were many reasons for my decision but I am keeping the Duratec as it’s a lovely example and I really like it.1 point

Morning was a bit of a joke, the organiser said there were 15!!!! yes 15 red flags in the morning and I reckon we had 4 or 5 in the afternoon. As Simon said we had some good Westfield trains going in the afternoon and it was thoroughly enjoyable if not a little tiring I was try so hard to keep up with XTR Andy.1 point

I don’t really want to enter into an argument but I feel that the members should simply accept with dignity what is offered by the club volunteers and not complain. Just be thankful that we have volunteers and an event to go to and enjoy.1 point

I know everyone had a great time at this event but just to let everyone know that we also raised £100 for the WSCC charities! Mostly from all the participants but additionally a substantial donation from two of our long standing Warks members, Dave and Val Preston. I've donated £50 to each, Make a Wish and the Air Ambulance, through the WSCC just giving pages. Thanks to all, Martyn1 point
