  3. Hi all, I have been lurking a while with one or two posts and have decided finally, to join the club. I will๐Ÿคž be taking ownership of my first westfield (or kitcar for that matter) on Sunday!! Very exciting and also a little apprehensive as these cars have been a distant dream for much of my early years. Anyhow I will be asking lots of daft questions, but I promise I will search first (for the do a searchers), this is not my first car club forum lol. I don't want to jinx Sunday, but maybe there are others in the cambs area who have a social meet up maybe drive out now things are opening??

  5. Welcome from South Derbyshire! You've joined the best club out there! Great bunch of people, really knowledgeable and amazingly helpful. Be careful, there's a terrible Westfield related disease called upgraditus going around these parts ๐Ÿ˜‚ Look forward to seeing photos, hope you enjoy the car ๐Ÿ‘

  9. Welcome! What a great car to begin the adventure with! Yes, Paul was very, very well known in the Club for many, many years, indeed at one time he had a business doing build and prep work on Westfields etc. Built or had a hand in, many members cars in the Speed Series, back in the day. Paul did the pre SVA checks and set up the gel on my first Westfield seventeen years ago!

  12. I have a selection of items that I'm selling. I'll list them here below, but will post an ad for each item to aid clarity. Please DO NOT respond to this post, if you're interested in an item please respond on the appropriate item post or by PM. I will update this list, and the individual item post titles, if an item is sold / no longer available. Although I'm intending to price these items to sell, I wont be offended by an offer, so long as you're not offended if I say no. I'm also not listing any postage or courier costs, please factor this in if you're interested in an item as I'm gonna let you sort out the logistics of postage/courier/WSCC Courier etc. To be clear, I'm happy to (carefully pack and) post things but that will be at your expense. I wont list an item as sold until the cash is in my bank but I am willing to hold onto things until you work out how you're going to get them. 15. Yes it would. I have had the same though. I brought the car with carpet mats but changed for rubber as it can get a little damp there. I suppose I could just remove the rubber completely. ๐Ÿฅ‚ cheers.

  22. I have done a couple of edpm roof jobs, so easy, and not expensive, biggest issue is getting to a good surface the membrane will adhere to... I tend to remove the old felt, overlay with osb with smooth joints. Look online at the 'how to' videos, also get a price online..

  23. I used Coroline on my new shed when I put it in, mostly because the old shed, and the sectional garage next to it, that have been there for decades had/have Coroline and itโ€™s still pretty good. Itโ€™s almost mess-free to install (if you have to cut it, the saw blade gets a but grubby) and it really seems to last. Main downside is it will sag if unsupported, particularly on a hot sunny day.

  24. But that song never changes irrespective of the colour of the government. There is NOTHING to be lost by the NHS managers repeating this dogma ad infinitum because the vast majority of the public will readily sympathise with this position. Secondly, it has been repeated so often that it is now normal for the public at large to assume that the NHS is underfunded whether that is actually true or not. And I doubt any of us have access to the actual figures. Politically, NHS funding is a no-win for politicians and an easy bit of rhetoric to trot out for the NHS. I suspect the truth about funding is somehwere in between.

  28. Not sure on NHS management and the politics of it but when I come to power to show appreciation for all public service personnel like nurses, police constables, firefighters, paramedics, army privates, navy able seamen/yeoman and air force leading aircraftmen (basically the lowest rank/pay grade in all disciplines) who retire with a full pension would be exempt from income tax for the rest of their days irrespective of their level of income or if they take up a new job. And they'd get free TV licenses and road tax too. No idea how I'd pay for it but for people who give so much for so little recognition, I'd find a way.

  32. https://www.pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinical-areas/immunology-and-vaccines/gps-and-data-indicate-continued-rise-in-double-vaccinated-covid-cases/ "A weekly update from the ZOE study at Kingโ€™s College London, said there were currently 15,537 new daily symptomatic cases in partly or fully vaccinated people, an increase of 40% from 11,084 new cases last week. By contrast in unvaccinated people in the UK there are currently an average of 17,581 new daily PCR-confirmed symptomatic cases of Covid, according to the ZOE figures, a drop of 22% from the week before. It suggests the number of new cases in the vaccinated population is set to overtake the unvaccinated in the coming days, the team noted." Of course, if 100% of people are vaccinated and there is 1 case then that means vaccinated people make up 100% of those with the disease, and gradually more people are having the vaccine - but with unvaccinated cases dropping and vaccinated cases increasing so quickly (faster than the speed of vaccine rollout), it seems to indicate that naturally acquired immunity is doing a better job than the vaccine. We are also seeing reduced deaths as a proportion of cases in this wave, but we are gaining natural immunity over time, its summer, and a proportion of those most susceptible to Covid have now passed on. Yet they will claim to have done a brilliant job introducing the vaccine and its been amazingly successful, blah blah. In related news: https://blogs.bmj.com/bmj/2021/01/04/peter-doshi-pfizer-and-modernas-95-effective-vaccines-we-need-more-details-and-the-raw-data/ Main takeaway from the above article: vaccine effectiveness estimated by unbiased 3rd party at 19-29%. Strong opinion alert: Prediction: Over the next year, our freedoms will be reduced and requirement for vaccine passports increased. Then Covid jabs will become a paid service with booster jabs required every few months to maintain valid vaccine passport status. We'll effectively have a nation of drug addicts. This will help to bolster the NHS balance sheet ready for final sale (anyone remember "Save The NHS" and those working in hospitals commenting on how quiet it was?), and those with shares / fingers in pharmaceutical pies will make huge wedges of cash. (Edit to add: I know I have been skeptical throughout this thread, but I am not anti vax in any way. However, when I am being told to do something (2 letters and 7 text messages now, and counting) by someone / something it makes me wonder why. So I start to research things for myself, and form what I hope to be an unbiased and rounded opinion, no matter which side of the fence that falls, and always be open to changing that with further information and research).
