After 11 years off the road and at least 3 years of restoration, my 30 year old is back on the road having passed its MOT this morning. Cosmetic bits to finish on the interior, suspension set up etc but it moves! Thanks to all the tips and guidance from this forum and members which has been invaluable.10 points

I promised an update regarding the weather, I don't think you need me to tell you all that the weather is set fair and this is definitely on. As Andrew said above meet at Fairways, Ashbourne, DE6 2GN at 10am Sunday. Can some of you put this postcode into your satnavs as our first gathering point as I can't promise to keep us all together through Ashbourne village. Linger around the entrance to the Tissington Trail car park, Mappleton Road, DE6 1FD, it's a long straight empty country road, please don't turn into the car park. Looking forward to seeing you all.4 points

Part 1 of the return home ! Thought we’d try the coast road via Lynmouth/Porlock/Minehead 🤔 the first bit was nice and the traffic was kind to us , the rest was a saunter followed by a crawl on the M5 for 1 junction. lets hope for a clear run up the M5 tomorrow afternoon as the aircon isn’t working 🤪 and it was a touch warm in the car today and I started to sit in a puddle .3 points

I'm not sure from which angle it looks like a Touring.... From most angles it looks like a posh builders Van.. I was going to lightheartedly suggest an Allegro Estate but...... I'd not want to get myself in trouble2 points

Whatever you do, don’t tell your friends! Amazing how busy you become when they realise you have time on your hands. I’m busier now helping people for free than I was working for money. Almost tempted to start working again, or maybe get rid of my friends.2 points

Selling my Westfield 11. A very special car in my opinion being one of the first cars ever to be produced at Westfield and ordered in red. 20k miles kit was purchased in 1982 and retains the 1967 age related plate that was fitted to the donar Mg. Power plant is a fully rebuilt 1600cc Lancia engine with larger cams and twin 40 Webber’s. Lots of interesting history with the car and lots of spares inc spare engine and gearbox. £22500 anymore information please contact me. located just north of Lichfield, staffs David 07836 22 55 061 point

Looking forward to meeting you on your first trip out I'm from mid Lincolnshire so cannot help out much with meeting en-route but I am sure others will 'reach out' if they are anywhere near. Otherwise we meet at the venue listed in Julies post and go from there (ie Fairways Garden Centre, Ashbourne DE6 2GN)1 point

Years ago back in NZ where the speed limit is 60 (even on the motorways), on a dead-quiet main road I sat behind a highway patrol cop on my motorbike for thirty miles and we did 75-80mph the whole way. It was a bit before 7pm, and I guessed it was the end of his shift and his dinner was waiting on the table! Another story - In NZ, every vehicle must display a current MOT sticker in the windscreen with the expiry date facing outwards. My mate gets pulled over on his bike for speeding (80+). It's starting to rain, so the cop says 'come back to my car where it's dry and I'll write you the ticket'. As my mate approaches the cop's windscreen he clocks the just-expired MOT and points it out to the cop. Cop gives him the death-stare, tells him it's his very-lucky day and lets him go! You've got to watch the speeding though - the NZ cop cars have a radar that can read when the cop car is stationary or moving, coming or going. I have felt the wrath on several occasions - and talked my way out of a couple more.1 point
