  1. The Stoneleigh show is the 28th and 29th August. After last year’s show was cancelled, this is an opportunity to get together, meet old friends and enjoy the best kit car show in the country. Our stand will be as good as ever, with some slight changes. Our marquee supplier has gone out of business, so we will have a smaller, more affordable marquee. Tea and coffee and cake will still be provided, but no hog roast this year. Overnight camping is available as always. Westfield Sports Cars will have a stand in one of the halls, always good to have a chat with the factory and they usually bring along parts at discounted prices, just as a temptation. So the date for your diary is 28th and 29th August, see you there. John.

  7. Day 2 started with a fantastic breakfast, just the thing to soak up the celebrations of England's 4-0 win the night before. There were a few sore heads! We had an impromptu photoshoot by the great waitress who looked after us and just happened to be a professional photographer, thank you Charmagne Haxby Photography, photos will be on here as soon as possible. Straight out of the car park and up Chimney Bank, the steepest road in Britain and over the moors to Thirsk, via Helmsley and Sutton Bank where we said our goodbyes and headed for home. A great weekend, great people, great staff at the hotel and a great tribute to @BugMan. Pity he missed it, he would have loved it.

  14. This is in the 'pinned ' topic at the start of this section but it seems not many read it, but can I respectively say to all that sell parts , can you please as soon as is possible add SOLD or NO LONGER AVAILABLE or whatever is applicable to the topic title. I was quite disappointed to discover an advert placed had actually sold two days before I first saw it. If the seller can't add it, then can the confirmed buyer add a post to the same effect.

  15. My brother and I bought this car in approx 2008-10. We intended to get in motor racing but it never really happened and we just ended up getting it out once a year for a track day. For the past 3-4 years it has been sitting in a barn but I am now losing the ability to store and and so am looking to sell it. Unfortunately I have little recollection on the cars history and spec but have managed to piece the following from various emails I've found, though unfortunately I can only get back to 2011, as the GMAIL account wont let me go back further. It had previously won its championship two years on the trot, driven by Chris Davidson, ably assisted in the pits by his father Ian. I'm not sure which championship but it was racing against Caterhams and Westfields and we went to see it win at Rockingham Ian & Chris had bought the car from a Nick Flowers and he bought it from Jonathan Hawkins. It was built by Northampton Motorsport, it originally had a Dunnell engine but they ran the big ends at Rockingham while leading the championship (it was then a wet sump engine) Ian Davidson bought an ex Formula Ford engine from Chris Ward which was a dry sump which he fitted, history said it was Jenson Button’s spare engine but I’m not sure, the car in Chris’s hands won the championship and many lap records, what’s a shame is most of the circuits have changed since so no longer current. It has a Scholar formula ford spec dry sump engine with Webber 40 carbs and around 170 bhp and quaife gearbox. It comes with a trailer, two sets of wheels & tyres and bits and bobs. The car is by no means immaculate but it is completely functional from a race car perspective and fully kitted out with fire, full cage etc. There are odd small things that need fettling (eg the front headlamp arm has snapped) and it need a new battery but can be heard running. There is no paperwork with the car. it can be viewed in Northants, 10 mins from J15 of the M1. It's difficult for me to take calls in the day , so please contact me at john@wendoverhouse.com and let me have a phone number with a convenient call back time. Open to offers thanks for looking

  23. Yes, I saw the forum go off-line this morning, and there's been a major update alert banner at the top for a while. That lower badge on the left gives the old rank when you hover over it. Still looking for other changes though.

  24. Soft Bit’s have more options, that’s for sure, like the Easy-in/out zips. They’re also happy to modify the hoods for individual customers, both functionally, and cosmetically - so people have had them in different colours, or with stripes etc. Then they’ve done things like adding little windows for high level brake lights, changing strap designs and so on. FWIW, I’ve had one of the Westfield supplied half hoods since they launched them, and the quality was great, it’s still going strong, even if it no longer fits the Honda.

  25. What a great picture! Your son looks so cute in the car, and wonderful to see the next generation involved! Welcome, as the others have said! We look forward to seeing and hearing more about your adventure with the Westfield. As others have said, please ask all the questions you want to, there’s no limit! Keep in mind that there’s often not really a “standard specification”, although some combinations of parts are more common that others. Photos of the car showing any parts related to questions you’re asking about will help massively, as members can then help you confirm just what you have.

  26. Wow out for 11 hours today with John and Kermit. What a brilliant day, the forecast said dry with a possible rain showers but off we went heading to applecross on the west coast. Fuelled up and stopping for a bacon roll we headed north and then westwards, on brilliant open sweeping roads through the glens, a wee bit of iffy road surface just before strathcarron where it was refuel and a nature break, before heading over applecross pass where to our surprise we got a clear blast up to the car parks, brilliant. From here it was on to applecross and then upto shieldig apart from a bike holding us up a wee bit there was again very little traffic to impede our progress. On towards kinlochewe and some very courteous drivers allowed us to have some fun along the way…. Then disaster…… the cake shop is no more 😪 so we had soup and coffee before turning east and heading homewards. We did stop off in Forres where we had a chippy and ice cream to make up for no cake lol All in all a brilliant day out with a great mix of driving, scenery and excellent company, happy days

  27. While the chassis is still U.K. the road waiting for the welder to return there’s not many jobs I can be getting on with but whilst tidy the garage today I tripped over one of the coolant pipes so thought I’d give it a quick clean up. like the rest of the car it has plenty of surface corrosion, the majority of which cleaned off quite well with the wire wheel, the a light sand with some wet and dry followed by a final polish. I’m not a fan of straight straight ends on coolant pipes because of the fear of them popping off but unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of a beading tool to add a swaged bead. A few years back on recommendation from locostbuilders I bought a plumbers olive setting tool in the sale from B&Q for a couple of pounds which enables a series of raised dots to be formed. that should help to keep the hoses and clips in place.

  28. Made it to the hotel. The weather forecast was horrible, but we didn't meet much rain. Well done to @marcusb @shutty1971 @Rickyboy100 and Gary in the Cobra for braving it. I didn't.

  29. We’ve made it to the hotel, managed to dodge most of the rain, bumped into @Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) At the cafe who joined us for some of the run, so far we’ve had one broken throttle return spring, one flat battery and four nearly flat tyres probably last checked pre lockdown 😁

  33. Shigeo, welcome to the Forum. I hope we can all help with your work to get your car on the road. It's over forty years since I was last in Japan. I used to visit frequently to see our licensees Kanamatsu Gosho and their sub-licensses Daifuku Machinery and Kanagafuchi Chemicals. We licensed the manufacture of products using a patented moulding process to incorporate steel reinforcement into injection mouldings. I visited plants in many places in Japan and got to love the place. The Hakone National Park and the coach run to the fifth station (I think it was fifth) were wonderful. Once the licensees experience was as good as ours I didn't need to visit any more unfortunately. One day I will take my wife and we'll see all the sights together. A 'Green Pallet' (trade name) and a typical steel armature.

  34. @Shigeo Welcome! Don’t worry, we’ll help get you back on the road. You’ve started in the right forum area to say hello, now you can start asking technical questions in Tech Talk. We only have two rules - there are no stupid questions so please ask away, and we like photos so attach them to your questions when you can. I hope that when you get it running again that you show us videos or pictures of you driving around Japan too!

  42. Going on Trackdays is a very popular opportunity for members to enjoy their Westfield’s. Previously as Competition Secretary I have tried to help out, but it’s not really my area of expertise these days. So together with the rest of the committee we have decided to get a WSCC Trackday Advisor to help out with recommending suitable Trackday ‘s to members and to organise the list of nominated days, where members can expect others to be there. So who is this person you all ask, none other than Trackday Instructor Steve Hewson, who has for many year’s now run a Westfield and has always been there to help out with instruction, advice and friendly banter . He will be along soon to introduce himself a bit more and make some suggestions for Trackdays this year.
